it’s probably gonna sound stupid, but when training is regular and normalike, (read, not this past two weeks coming back from my time off) after a certain #, shit just feels heavy, and either moves or it doesnt.
145 feels the same to me as 175 and 195 (<-- last one ive done to a 2board), its just there. which is weird to keep adding weight and keep doin it sometimes, but the others tell me that’s kinda how it goes. I’ll get asked how a lift felt, and I’m still not aware of things enough to say something like, “I think my left tricep started tapdancing after the press command” or whatever the fuck they say.
My answers vary between “feels like shit. I wanna do more.” and “feels like shit. cutting that off there.” feels like shit when im doin it, feels way better to look at it after i get up and go “HA! i MOVED you! take THAT!”

yes! that is how squats feel to me. i think ‘damn that felt hard, i couldn’t add more weight, i was lucky to get that up’. then i add a bit more and it feels just the same…
i read somewhere that the muscle fibers either fire or they don’t fire. that they are lazy and they won’t fire if they can help it. if you can wobble up x amount of weight using, say, 80% of them then your body will do just that. and so you think ‘damn, that was wobbly hard no way i could lift more weight!’ and you couldn’t only using that same number of muscle fibers (80%). but then when you put some more weight on the bar your body goes ‘uh oh, fuck, better get a few more of those fibers firing along to help’ and so the weight moves.
takes time to really get to know your body to push those fibers to fire without blowing something out.
if that isn’t happening with your upper body stuff… then maybe that means you got a whole heap more in you yet, brute? or maybe squats / deads are a bit different because of the larger muscle mass involved in those movements…
Somehow it’s been forever since I’ve been over here. Glad the poochie’s dental surgery went alright. Stressful. And your DLs are just phenomenal. 225x30! Good grief! And that 350 is going to be your’s I’m sure. The 50 pushup goal is a good one for upper body. I’ll bet you will see your bench move, too. I keep hoping that my pullups are going to positively effect my bench. They have to, right?
alexus!–oh man…I think you have something with the muscle fiber firing too. I’m sure it has a definite mental link where you mind thinks your body can’t all the while you have it in you already. I hope this means i just have more in me for bench! that or i just shall live will lil dinky lift for a while
well hey puff!!! pullups will definitely help your bench!..i say this while i am lame don’t do them :{ ah ha!
thanks alexus and Maschy and MiM I appreciate that!! so very grateful i can move and my back has forgiven me…I am very lucky !!!
today was another misc day. i was all over the place, but i needed to do something this morning while waitng for the sun to be up to walk.
overheads 95x25 then misc fronties 155x7 needed to figure out what the plan was going to be- again i forgot about dl’s yesterday so my back said nuh uh to fronties or regular squats. i was going to try to max out but nope, need to wait.
pushpresses 95x15, 105x10, 115x6, 125x3
pushups -23. i filmed these and noticed i need to pull my butt down, its not awful but its not military straight. so noted then i did some misc set off the bench, i might just do these when i go to the gym, seem sit helps force me to pull my ass down.
then overheads 95x20,115x10, 125x10
OH MY GOD YES PMPM! He has GOT to loose those balls. As soon as i can he’s getting neutered and pexied…just have to wait on the surgeon i want to be free!!
Nikki, if you think that’s cute watch him give that chair the business. grin
Brute; you’re the coolest. Cute outfits, cute hair, fun ink, and beast mode strong. I do, however, have two questions. What’s going on with the little foot bump a little over halfway through the pull? It creeps in after the first few reps, is present until 27 (which is perfectly flat footed and devoid of any bumping action), then reappears for the rest of the set. I don’t know if you feel it happening, or if trying to not do it would help or hurt you, just wondering if there’s a reason behind it.
Then, and far more perplexing, what in god’s name is the gentleman to the right side of the screen doing in the early seconds of the video? As silly as it sounds I was trying not to gawk at you, like I would try not to do in the gym, and he caught me eye. Once you get to work it’s a different story of course.
laugh I hope that chair decided to give up Nigel’s ball at some point, it looked like things could end rough otherwise!
MiM! …still shy one.6 pounds of my all time best dl :{ GRRRRR. filming the push ups helped! i think filming helps me push it too, i want to get a nice vid:)
Hey Kristof! Thanks!! As for the foot thing, I dunno why i do that :{ i’ve had it pointed out to me before, and i guess i don’t realize it at the time…now i shall have to see if i notice it …
who KNOWS what homeboy was doing…there are a bunch of crazy’s there!! I should film them too…makes me feel happy:)
Oh and Nikki-- that chair is toast. He decided to rip the cushion apart so its dumpster furniture now :{ I have to remind him not to disembowel his friends! So far its been $80 worth of library book/dvd damage, a pair of glasses, and that hand me down chair buddy that have been demolished. …all well worth the trade off
