You’re my hero too!! :D!! i think i honestly just get lucky–A LOT. i’m a spoiled brat and totally lean towards things i feel i’m better at and ignore many others. through bazzarro methods stuff just kinda happens–i do things wrong, but look the other way because it makes me feel better at the time… I have LOTS of problems with form and crap that i need to address.such as today’s squats :{ buahh!..but i do this to make me feel happy, so i admit tuff stuff makes me stop and loose it.

bar x5, 135, 85, 225–wtf? couldn’t get it off the rack i had set it on to load the 2 45’s. screw you!

de loaded and reloaded it with 35, put it on the floor. then loaded it up again with 225 on the floor. got it.???

225x2, 245, 265, 280, 290, 300. THANK GOD. I had it in my mind i was going to get at least 300 for fuck’s sake. fail at 305. but that’s ok, i got what i wanted for the day. next week next week

inbetween all this i was doing wide stance squats of 135x4. i got excited seeing vikki’s vid on fb.

push presses 95x21, 115x8, 125x5
squats- 185, 225x2, 245x2, 265, 280–bit high. wasn’t feeling it so i tried some reps 224x10–been a thousand years since i repped back squats. i got them low enough but my god i have the prototypical Brute Strange Squat going on. A lot of lower back, crumple style. It so hard to change…so hard to change…bluh

I’ve attempting to fix this but indirectly. fronties’ and over heads, trying to get upright, Brute Bazzaroo Squat its embedded in my bones. MY bones!!!

overheads 95x19
hanging leg raises toe to bar x5, x6, x7
ghetto reverse hypers, stretching etc.

Second, it didn’t ruin my day but it did make my pizza less enjoyable. I powered through that sucker though, hoping maybe just the first taste was off. Alas, 'twas not. sigh

Now. You may gravitate towards the lifts you like and are naturally better at, but most people do. What you also do that most people don’t is accept that you need to work things you don’t care for so much (benching and rowing, for instance) and hit them pretty darned hard- indeed with typical Brute intensity. Squatting and pulling 300 don’t ‘just happen’, you put in serious work and time and sweat to get there.

Big ups on that deadlift by the way. :slight_smile: I can almost see your face when the bar intimated to you that it would rather stay on the rack thank you very much. grin

I’ll leave any form critique to those with more experience, but after the pulling, wide stance squatting, and push pressing (impressive numbers on that too, p.s.) I wouldn’t expect I’d be able to squat at all, let alone work up towards my max (close to what I’ve ‘seen’ you squat at the top end that is) and THEN for reps. You go crazy deep on those squats to boot, which adds some challenge to say the least.

I hope all that didn’t come out preachy or anything. You’re a fucking badass and I don’t want you to be letting yourself think otherwise, is all. :slight_smile:

As, far as the Brute Bizzaro Squats: I am no form expert. But biomechanics and their implications are my biz. When you kick your ass out while ascending, especially as you fatigue, it appears that you might be putting some strain on your lumbar discs. Just an observation. Maybe some work on your hip drive would help? Explosive stuff like KB swings or something?

I’d never squat after a deads pr. and 224x10 is no small feat.

regarding squats: main issue I see is the folding. keep elbows forward and work on abs and lower back strength.

I’ll be tuning in to see what others suggest.

Going back to the monstrous lifting you did that day, I went in today and maxed on deadlift. Afterwards I talked to a couple guys for a few minutes, did some ab rollouts, ate, and more or less vegged out for a few hours. There is NO way I could have squatted at like 90% and then done a set for reps.

You are ridiculous, and I mean that in the most positive way you can take it. grin
