i never thought about all my pulling from the floor and rowing being deadlift-like. you are right, though. that will explain why i gotta be careful of deads. hmm…

i only just recently started with dips. PB of 4. found that 1 wasn’t too hard to get with the ability to do about 8 push-ups. bit of a knack to it (much easier for me leaning forwards with legs crossed back squeezing the hell out of my glutes). you might be surprised that you can do 'em.

decided to bench today
120x6,x5,x5, 125x4, 130x2x2 sets, 135 2 nice singles :slight_smile:
stretched, some abs, some ghetto ghr’s and reverse hypers.

So today you did 130 for 2x2, and singled 135 twice. Two weeks ago you singled 130 three times, and failed on 135. Your sets leading up to the top end were also heavier today. Tell your lower body to watch out; there’s a beast forming above the belt. grin

Though, of course, deads are still bestest. :slight_smile:

Yay for t-rex arms…but t-rex arms suck for deadlifting.

Ghetto GHRs are where you hook your feet under the knee pad for a lat pulldown, facing away from the weight stack, and GHR down to a bench or box or something. They will cramp you up right quick.

should be why i had some seriously crazy waking dreams a few hours ago. it was kinda frightening!

that or the large amount of oranges i ate that gave me fruit sugar rush 2011…but these were some seriously screwy dreams where you feel like you just woke up and misc bad shit stuff happens, or you can’t do things like escape an invading psycho because you’re trapped in a sleepin body. WORD!! better put the Dew down and get some water.

Dude, i hate those dreams! When you’re like, “why am i in my kitchen? wait i’m not in my kitchen gets out of bed and runs into the kitchen wtf is going on?!?!?!” Its scary. And its true, they come in multiples. If we were living in the 18th century they’d be calling for an exorcism or witch hunt. lol!

Interestingly, the last time I had that was after I went nuts at a restaurant and had pork belly, pork ribs…pork, pork, pork…i think it was the sodium. So maybe it was the oranges!

Nice benching, Brute! I’ve got monkey arms too, so I know how it is. Deadlifting is a WIN. Benching is…well, difficult. But you’ve come such a long way with benching.

LMAO about the shiatsu butt massage! Sometimes you just gotta do what ya gotta do.

My schedule isn’t as weird as yours, but I know what you mean. If I don’t have anything to do I go to the gym too.

yeah. mind you i LOVE having nothing to do so i can play in the gym without needing to be conscious of the time / of leaving something in reserve for whatever i gotta do after.

Good work in here, Brute. And I have to throw the bullshit flag on the arms comment you made. And thanks to you, I’m warming up to OH squats more and more.

Bre-some of the more experienced PLers here can probably be more specific, but I generally follow the cues of:

-bar on or close to shins
-butt down and back (like the bottom of a squat)
-straight/arched back
-proud chest
-arms straight, just outside knees
-head up

When I lift, I drive thru my heels and stand up with it; meaning everything remains tight, and my butt isn’t the first thing to go up. And I’ll emphasize everything tight. This includes your core. As I said, some of these folks can probably tell you better than I can.
