*BRUTAL SIMPLICITY*

Y’know - amongst you three - you,eco and meat, we should be seeing one or all of you hitting circa 2k raw totals sometime in the not-too-far-flung future.

bunny,

check out my comments i made to eco on the program when you get a chance.

Took a look… are you referring to changing the push press to a more strict dumbell/ barbell press, or the deficit pulls…?

Eco… I think that circuit will work great for the accessory stuff.

Oh, by the way, I have revamped my goals… bench 751/ deadlift 1001/ and squat 1101… lol!

Here is what I accomplished today, with some thoughts and quandries…

APRIL 9TH

M.E. BENCH WEEK 3

M.E. FLAT BENCH WITH BANDS (@ 85% 5x5=295 not including bands)
bar x warmup
135x10
225x5
225x3
(belt and bands affixed)
295x2
295 x 3 sets of 1 rep
305x1
315x0

I think the bands are providing a little too much resistance for me at this weight, plus I train alone and did not have a spotter. So, after 3 sets of 1 rep I said piss on it and did some heavier singles to ensure I was getting some good work in, gotta figure something out here cuz next week is at 90%…

D.E. FLAT BENCH WITH BANDS (@ 60% 8x3= 205 not including bands)
205 x 8 sets of 3 reps

CLOSE GRIP BENCH PRESS
225x9
225x7
225x5

DUMBELL TATES
50 x 3 sets of 10

CABLE ROPE PUSHDOWNS
70 x 3 sets of 10

PUSH UPS ON ELEVATED HANDLE THING-MA-BOBS
2 sets to failure then partials
[/quote]

your percentages should be based off of that particular movement. whatever you can get for a 1 rm on bench WITH BANDS. then figure the percentage off of that.

i was talking about adding in one set of full ROM bench after the first ME variation at around 80%. each week try to add a rep or so to it.

Thank you Skid for even placing me close to a 2000 lb total. I hope to get around a 1600lb total by the end of this 12 week routine: 600 lb dead, 600 lb squat and 425 bench (I hope). Also, I need to get off my ass and figure out how to post a video.

Being a hockey guy I thought you would find this interesting. Last night my son was chucking a puck down the ice and it went out of play. At the same time one of our coaches was helping another player on the bench not watching the game. The puck hit him under the right eye. He went down in a bloody mess. 17 stiches later he e-mails us saying he was OK.

Ahhh… there in lies my error. Based off my percentages, my 1 rep max is around 340-345, so I based my percentages off this. It will obviously be different with bands affixed. Sorry for being such a mumbly… I will make the necessary adjustments.

So… with the full ROM @ 80%, is this done in addition to the other stuff??

dudes, i didnt like sign up for the math lesson…

This is over on Meats thread:

i would drop the full ROM bench and go right to Board press.

so it would look like this-

board press 75%-5x5
1 bench set full ROM at 80%
close grip bench 3x10
elbows out 3x10

Ouch! That happens more often than people realize. I remember at one of my games, guy lifted his visor to take a drink of water, just as he was putting the bottle up to his mouth he got a puck in the yap, taking out about 4-5 teeth.

One other time (about 10 years ago) I was playing in a tournament, when a spectator on the top row of the first pier of seats got up and was standing at the top of the stairs preparing to walk down to the concession booth. He got smoked in the back of the head with a puck… sending him down about 12-15 concrete stairs to the concrete floor below. He was hurt pretty good.

I’m not a betting man… but, my money (if I had any) is on Meat for sure. Eco will be close behind, and I may get my bodyweight up to that total if nothing else, lol!

Thanks Skid!

Indeed-- hockey is a dangerous spectator sport. We usually sit below top-of-glass level or waaaay up. Kinda hard at the smaller rinks/arenas around the area. Ya gotta pay attention all the time for sure, eh?

Now don’t be selling yourself short.

Thanks for the vote of confidence of Stream… 2000 would be sweet, especially RAW!

APRIL 12

M.E. DEADLIFT SESSION

ELEVATED (8?- mid shin) RACKPULL (85% @ 5x5)
Bar x warmup
135x10
225x5
315x3
405x3
(Belt/ straps)
495x1
(working sets)
605x10 sets of 1 (set up after each rep- approx. 60 secs between reps)

The working set weight was based off of a previous PR rackpull weight of 675lbs (at knees). I think I may have bit off more than I can chew, seeing as my current PR for deadlift is 585 lbs. I was a little impatient trying for gains, but? God and Meat hate cowards.

ROMANIAN DEADLIFTS
365x10

D.E. DEFICIT DEADLIFTS (4? inch deficit)
365 x 8 sets of 3 (60-90 secs between sets)

BENTOVER BARBELL ROWS
225x10
225x8
225x7

UNDERHAND PULLDOWNS
250x10
250x8
250x7

POWER SHRUGS
405x10
405x7
405x7

Things seem to be coming along nicely.

thats really good lifitng Bunny. I love following your work!

to put this all into perspective…

a 2000lb raw total would place you as the #3 highest total right now out of all competitive powerlifters in the country in the 275lb class and 165lbs over the highest total in the 242lb class.

i will be very happy with anything over 1800 at the Worlds this year. before i die, my biggest goal is to total 1940. that would give me an Elite EQUIPPED total but i want to do it raw.

I’ll never see 2000. Maybe 1750 some day. I was completely joking on my thread about bench 750,dead 1000,squat 1100 as goals.

I’ll say things are coming along nicely! Great rack pulls. Bunny, I guessed low with all my maxes. Easier (for me) to adjust up instead of down. Are you as sore as I am today?

Wow… Meat really put that in perspective.

My goals for the immediate future (next 3 months) are a 600+ deadlift and a 385 bench… something like that. I would like a 1000 lb total at the push/ pull competition… I think that would be competitive.

My long term (1 year) are a 400-420 bench and a 700 deadlift… squat?? I dunno… I will say around 600.

On another note, I am not a happy camper right now. I tore my nail right off the big toe on my right foot tonight, doing that %$$#@ kabaddi.

We still have some snow up here, so we were practicing indoors on the wrestling mats which were taped together. I hammer this guy, taking him to the ground, my toe gets caught in the seam of the mat… and “POP”, tore the nail right off, including some of the skin where the nail goes underneath.

Blood everywhere. Went to the clinic, they put the nail back on, taped and gauze. I guess I gewt a few days off now, can’t get a boot (socks even hurt) over the damn foot.

Still doin’ bench tomorrow though, fuck it.

That’ll keep you on your heels…ouch!

Bro- between my dislocated fingers and your toe, we might be able to put a full body session together…

Another ouchie in a sport completely apart from lifting, who’s next?
