Ribs always take a while even not considering age. By the looks of that last session they aren’t doing too much to you…
Thanks Dog… slowly but surely.
Even my hair hurt from the last lower session… but here is my assistance session;

NOVEMBER 24TH- ASSISTANCE

BARBELL PUSHPRESS
135x2x7
185x2x3
205x3x3

DUMBELL SEATED PRESS

CLOSE GRIP CABLE PULLDOWNS

240x5
270x5
300x2x4

CLOSE GRIP CABLE ROWS

270x5
300x2x4

DUMBELL SIDE RAISE

FACEPULLS
60-80-90-100 to failure each set then 50 to failure no rest

Was gonna do bi’s, abs, calves and grip, but just burnt out from work and the previous lower session.

Got a hockey game tonight, if we lose we are out, if we win we go to game 3… so, here we go!

Tomorrow is bench day… can’t wait.

Good luck on the game and the bench session bun.

Thanks willy… we lost the game, piss me off. We outplayed them, but they had a hot goalie tonight. Oh well, now, full concentration on the task at hand… the competition in August. Time to get serious. I wonder now with hockey out of the equation if I should incorporate some cardio work… do powerlifters do that?

Yes. I’d guess that the amount of cardio you got through hockey actually lets you do the kind of workload you do.

I’ll bet that if you cut cardio in half and scale back the number of movements you do and put everything into the ones left, you are going to blow everybody away in August.

Cardio at the right times (interval sprints), along with squats drives natural testosterone levels up.

I’ll bet you are headed toward a great August.

Thanks guys… kinda refreshing knowing I have a specific goal. I may try to find a competition in the spring, something to get my feet wet and to “pop my cherry” in powerlifting.

Got a hell of chest cold on the go right now, but went in and did an “upper” session, as follows;

UPPER

FLAT BENCH DUMBELL PRESS
45x20 (warmup)
70x10 (warmup)
120x3
120x2
120x2-- then 110x3

WEIGHED DIPS
bodyweight x10 (warmup)
45lbs x4x3 (paused at bottom)

INCLINE BARBELL PRESS
first rep each set paused
215x8x3

DUMBELL TATES
30x10
40x3x8

TRICEP CABLE PUSHDOWNS
60x10
80x10
100x8
120x4

CLOSE GRIP PUSHUPS
3 sets to failure

No abs/ calves or grip training today… no energy and felt like my lungs were on fire with this damn cold.

At least I accomplished something by getting in the gym…

Just getting there is half the battle and what you did still looks like one hell of a session.

nice training!

Going to be re-vamping the training regime, to be tailored more specific to my upcoming “Push-Pull” meet.

Not entirely sure what or how, but in the meantime… squats are going to be an RE movement.

REGULAR SQUAT

Day 4- off
Day 5- RE/DE Squat and accessory work

Killer back work. Can’t wait to see how your numbers progress. Will any direct shoulder and arm work be done on the accessory day?
hel320 wrote:

I asked the same thing, but apparently with the bench program you are not supposed to do any shoulder work (pressing) or triceps (6 week program).

However, the way I have broken it down is I will do squats (RE and DE) on accessory days… and throw in some biceps, some dumbell side laterals and some facepulls/ rear delt raises. My first accessory day on this program is tomorrow (Saturday) so I will let you know how it goes.

I must say… a tad on the sore side today… but a good sore.

6 plates x20
10 plates x10
14 plates x10
16 plates x6

CIRCUIT- 60 seconds rest between exercises/ 90 seconds between circuits

  1. D.B. SIDE DELT RAISE
    40x8x3

  2. D.B. CURLS
    45X3X8

  3. D.B. REAR DELT RAISE
    35x8x3

STANDING CALF RAISES- shitload for a shitload

Lower back and hams still sore/ tight from DL day- just trying to get loosened up and get the lactic acid moving.

Looking stronger than ever Bunny. I know you have things all mapped out already but I found heavy partial benching like board press and floor press to help my bench over the past month or so. I haven’t got around to using chains yet. Hope they work well for you.

Thanks Eco… the bench program I am on right now for the next 6 weeks does not incorporate partials, boards, chains or bands.
I will be throwing them (chains/ boards/ partials) in again after I am finished with this program (4 weeks left).

CABLE CROSS OVERS (15-20 reps)

This was certainly a humbling experience… been a while since I did reps this high- talk about hitting “the wall”… and what a pump… I felt hooooge!

bunny just curious as to why the high rep stuff? it looked like u were doing the low rep stuff before.
wasBr0k3n wrote:

Yep… I am still doing low rep stuff, the bench program I am on (Henriques Plateau) switches back and forth from week to week. Next week will be heavy… 3-5 reps max fo 5 sets.

The link to this program is here on T-Nation, just type in “Tim Henriques” in the search bar. My coach and mentor is a friend of Mr. Henriques and reccomended the program. My bench sucks, so any help is appreciated.
