Bruising

Hi. Recently I’ve been bruising VERY easily and they aren’t healing too quickly. I don’t think I’ve changed anything drastically in my diet. Does anyone have ideas on what could help reduce bruising?

Thanks!

Vitamin C. It’s a cofactor in collagen synthesis along with copper, among other things. In general copper is inversely related to vitamin C levels. Women generally tend to be overloaded in copper since it mirrors estrogen levels. The higher copper causes a deficiency in vitamin C resulting in reduced collagen and thus bruising. This is also a reason why women tend to bruise much easier than men.

Get some blood work done. It may be a warning of a larger problem with your health. If it is you will be happy you found out early as possible. unless you just got some done this year. Try some vitamin K, helps clotting. thinner blood creates bruises easier, it permiates the blood vessel walls easier.

have you by any chance lost a lot of fat or gained a lot of size (fat or muscle) recently? If you lost a bunch you probably just have less “padding” between your skin and blood vessels making it easier to bruise. If you’ve grown, you might just not be used to the size yet and you’re bumping into shit more often. If it’s the former, I’m not sure what to tell you, if it’s the latter, be more careful you big clumsy oaf;)

Hello!

I am so glad you posted!
I have noticed the same thing two, these past two weeks.

I have been bruising a lot, especially on my legs. I am typically very clumsy, but i used to not bruise.

I have, tho, lost heaps of weight recently. So maybe thats it?

Have you?

And also,
I recently started sleeping less (started school). Sleep deprivation has always cause havoc with my body.

Please, let me know if you find a solution!

What supplements are you currently taking?

Thanks for all the input. I’ve only been taking fish oil, CLA, and glucosamine, plus a daily vitamin. I use Surge and whey protein supps as well. Some of them seem to be healing now, so that is good. I still get them pretty easily though.

Your supplement intake looks OK.

I would advise that you see your doctor for a physical to make sure everything is in order.

I’ve read that fish oil has a blood thinning effect. I noticed that I was brusing more easily when I increased my fish oil. After doing some research I started taking grape seed extract which has really helped.
