I finally watched this guy fight this weekend against Vicente Escobedo, a fighter who I really like, and watching Broner fight at this weight is like watching Floyd Mayweather when he was there.
This guy is fast as fuck, accurate, and powerful. If he keeps that, along with his defensive style and his chin, this guy could be the Next Big Thing.
Hahaha! I saw the fight and I felt so bad for Escobedo. Broner smashed him pretty bad.
And LMAO @ the fake marriage proposal. Poor girl. I would have kicked the bastard in the balls.
Broner is a very good boxer and could become a great one in the future. He’s doing everything he can to promote himself as the cocky flashy guy…but not only does he box almost exactly like Floyd Mayweather he also tries to be like him outside the ring. Copycat, may I say?
Talented yes. Similar to Floyd yes. But I think get’s popped too much compared to Floyd. What he does have over floyd is brutal power. If he tunes that up even more and matches it with Floyds timing and accuracy as well as fine tunes his defence he will be damn near unbeatable
But I have to agree with humble, I wouldn’t call him the next Mayweather. He doesn’t seem to have that same tactical ability and ring generalship of mayweather. I think what always stood out to me about Mayweather was his ability to adapt on the fly and box in different modes - very, very few fighters can adapt or change their style on the fly if the situation dictates it.
The power stands out though, combined with accuracy makes him a dangerous proposition.
Did anyone catch Roy Jones struggling to find an answer when he was asked what the weaknesses of the shell were? Ha ha. I’ve fought out of the shell for the past two years or so, and I think it’s the best defensive posture in boxing - provided you have the requisite athleticism to use it. Then again styles make fights and I would never recommend the style to anyone but counter punchers.
