British Movies - Suggestions?

The Day of the Jackal, Get Carter.

Dirty Pretty Things - not an action flick, but a good drama with solid acting. Most of the film is depressing, but it has a great ending.

I second Layer Cake- really good, with some nice twists and turns. Nice to see Daniel Craig b4 he became 007.

Sidney Poitier - To Sir With Love

In contrast, Layer Cake was a great movie. Loved Snatch.

(I like Statham’s movies but I hate when he tries it with American accent. Jet Lee’s “One” - terrible accent. Sorry Mr Statham).

The Long Good Friday is one of the best british movies ever

Croupier is good. Clive Owen pretty much kick ass in everything he does.

you’re a funny guy!

Seems like you’re focusing on just a certain brand of British films. What about comedy? Monty Python? Holy Grail and Life of Brian are both hilarious. Or cult classics like Withnail & I?
good call. Was just thinking of films that the OP might like based on the ones he mentioned.

How about The Commitments, The Italian Job, The Great Escape…

GDollars37, AdamC,

I just wanted to delve a little into British culture. I loved comedies like Snach and Lock/Stock. And i watched Hot Fuzz yesterday - i love this kind of stuff  I also loved movies about youth, like Green Street Hooligans (not sure if it is filmed by a British guy, but is all about Britain  ), Football Factory… Well, Human Traffic also fit here… Trainspotting is cool as well.

The Commitments, The Italian Job, The Great Escape - These must be classic comedies? I must give them a try!

Anyways, i have compiled a list of movies to watch based on your recommendations. But keep them coming guys!

I like Mr. Bean.

Who can forget the great British Carry On series!

“Threads”

I really enjoyed Bravo Two Zero…

Indeed, although Carry On Up The Khyber is about the best one. Some of the others are abysmal. The one with Phil Silvers in it wasn’t too bad.

in addition to those mentioned:

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Mean Machine
A Clockwork Orange
Children of Men

28 Days Later

That was the best horror/zombie movie to come out in a long time. Definitely gonna be a classic.
Fuck 28 Days Later. It’s an overrated rip-off of Romero’s Day of the Dead.

It rips-off whole entire scenes, as well as the overall theme.

Haha 28 days later is hella better than land of the dead/dawn of the dead.

Watch:
‘till death us do part’
Brazil
60’s James Bond
Nil by mouth
Monty Python and the holy grail
Shallow Grave
Trainspotting too of course.
