Not doing too bad across the pond either -

"The extent to which desis have made an impact in the US was reeled off in the Rajya Sabha ???¢?? as many as 12% scientists and 38% doctors in the US are Indians, and in NASA, 36% or almost 4 out of 10 scientists are Indians.

If that’s not proof enough of Indian scientific and corporate prowess, digest this: 34%

employees at Microsoft, 28% at IBM, 17% at Intel and 13% at Xerox are Indians."

The reason that the percentages of those companies employees (Not NASA) are so high in relation to india is that they all have huge corporate offices in India (population 1 billion+). Well done, yes you have a massive output of scientific and technical graduates, but the real reason you have huge numbers working for these companies in India is simple. You are cheap labour. When the huge boom in India slows down, because you all want higher wages, then those same companies will move on somewhere else.

Oh yeah, and thats the same reason there are so many Indian doctors over here. They know they can make a fortune in the UK, so that they can go back to india and live like a king after a few years.

Unfortunately, for the majority of your countrymen and women, they will also live in crushing poverty forever up to the average indian life expectancy of 66, while us obese, ugly, binge drinking brits live till 77. To put that in perspective the only countries you have a higher average life expectancy than are AIDS ridden sub-saharan african countries.

Frankly, I get sick of listening to people whine about how shit the UK is. If you don’t like, go home. But you won’t, will you?? You’ll probably end up marrying your cousin who was born here, so that you can stay when your student visa runs out.

That is so fucking true and totally devastating argumentation, oooouch !

Why would we want to?? I get to go on holiday abroad 3 times a year. I drive a goood luxury brand car. I own a house that is’nt a shack, and I don’t have to break my back to do it. Oh, and I love my worthless junk that I surround myself with. Because, frankly. I don’t live with medieval religous notions of how I will be rewarded in heaven for my short, brutal, poverty stricken life.

That’s a bit harsh.

I mean, I could see trapping her in a well, feeding her scraps and periodically forcing her to apply lotion to her skin (under fear of being doused with a hose), but THAT…man…

i think you are pathetic for making assumptions about an entire culture based on what little you have seen. the fact that you are at university where drinks are practically given to students because they are so poor has an affect on what you are going to see. yeh not everyone is perfect in this country and we have a binge drinking culture but every country in the world has its problems and you cant expect everyone to have the same values as you.

im actually quite offended by your comments as im 20 and although im not at university i have high expectations for what i want to acheive in life. i drink but i dont get so off my face i cant walk i just do it to let off some steem at the weekend and i see nothing wrong with that as im a sensible drinker.
instead of sitting around complaining about our culture why dont you travel around a bit as you will see much better and also worse parts of our culture depending on where you go and then maybe travel the world a bit and you will realise that in the real world there are both good and bad aspects.

i reely hope you are only making comments like this because you have lived a very sheltered lifestyle in your country because if not you must just be extremely stupid and ignorant.

no offence but if you hate our culture so much go educate yourself some where else.

and spend more time learnin about packin on some muscle thats what this websites for incase you hadn’t noticed

Well considering that india has more billionaires than any other, the number of millionaires are increasing and even middle class families live like kings, I think a lot of that can apply to many indians too. Only difference is that westerners live beyond their means, indians spend their money wisely.

Oh, and wrong religion by the way.

I am from India and moved to the uk almost 1 year a go to study. And one thing I have noticed is that the people here have no morals. Particularly the girls.

Where I am from girls have dignity, self-respect and remain chaste until marriage.

But here all I see from student lifestyle is drinking and promiscuity. People drink and cause trouble, physical violence etc and wake up with a hang over regretting it. Or they sleep around, have sex with multiple partners and then wonder why std’s and teenage pregnancies in this country are increasing, it’s disgraceful. Maybe if they’d keep their legs together for 5 minutes, we wouldn’t have such a problem.

Neither drinking or sex are worth it, unless you are married or at least in a meaningful, long term relationship.

If I knew that mainstream English culture and lifestyle was so pitiful and obnoxious then I certainly wouldn’t have moved here to study. I want to aim high in life, and as such this definitely isn’t the right environment for me.
Half of Indian women marry before the legal age of 18 anyways, so your comparison of Indian girls to girls in Britain makes no sense. Indian culture is preferential towards males over females anyways, (e.g. Female literacy rate at 47.8%, 73.4% male literacy rate)and India has a messed up sex ratio due to the abortion of female fetuses (which is like murder in this case since its done for a retarded reason) at 1.12 males per female at birth. Your tone is pretty sexist anyways, lol since it takes both sexes to be immoral anyways, so why would you say “Particularly the girls.” Any culture that doesn’t even have equality in it is retarded.

Why do you care so much about what others do anyways, mind your own business, its not like you can do anything about what you perceive as bad aspects of British culture anyways. A lot of Indians would kill to be in Britain to study anyways, so you should stop whining about the environment not being right for you.

As always it depends on your mindset. Do you want to see only the negativ sides?

There are no real positives for hard working, law abiding, tax payers.

Only the dole scrounging bums and real dregs of society who take wellfare for granted and live at the tax payers expense.
Maybe Britain should follow India’s lead and have a good majority of its people living in slums with sewage running in the streets. If you don’t like it in Britain why don’t you go home then.

My point: We should not start judging each others cultures because we all have our own problems.

Firstly - the burnings happened in small village communities hundreds of years ago
Secondly - The caste system was abolished decades ago
Thirdly - You’re from germany. That country and it’s past culture needs no introduction.
Lastly - I am talking here about a present problem which I have personally seen, not some (likely exaggerated) practices from the medieval period.

And it was aimed at brits - do you think Britains increasing binge culture is harming the country in the long term? Its values, ideals etc?

I’ll make a recommendation to you that I made years ago to an English girl that moved to Canada and continually complained about our culture. You are a guest in the country. Like any guest anywhere, have the courtesy not to insult your host. If you can’t maintain that modicum of decorum and the culture offends your sensibilities so greatly go home. You are getting an education in England that you presumably can’t get in India, don’t be such a snotty child and look down your nose.

WTF is with the OPs avatar and that come-hither look he’s giving his bromantic partner?

Most 3rd world countries have a large number of rich people and even more poor people. If you have no money then I’m sure you would spend it wisely. Like it has been said before India has money because it operates as a US Corporate sweat shop like most of Asia.

If India is so well educated why is the adult literacy rate only 66%. The following link is pretty interesting

What did the British girl have to complain about here in Canada? Too much hockey and not enough football? Too much open space? Too many good teeth? Not enough people saying “krikey”?

Because only 66% of their families earn enough to send their kids to school, while the other 44% are sent to work in a sweat shop. What a great place! I’ll take the binge drinking any day of the week thanks!

Yolked Up part 2

I just re-read your original post, and there was nothing really there. You kinda just stated your opinion which is an invitation for people to flame you and argue with you regardless of whether or not you’re right. If you came to try and show us your findings, you’ve come to the wrong place because almost every single person here is a westerner and will fight you tooth and nail. If you came to try to get attention, sadly you’ve come to the right place.

What you called an ‘attack on your country and culture’ has actually been recognised by your own officials as a very real and serious issue, regardless of you political views -

So stop acting so butt hurt.
You’re just pissed off cause i’m not British, well even your fellow brits (the smart ones) think the same as me; that the booze culture is out of control.

And I don’t care what anyone says. Just because i’m living here, doesn’t mean I have to like every bit of it. There are some aspects of british culture which I do like, but this definately isn’t one of them.
