…For centuries, Afghan men have taken boys, roughly 9 to 15 years old, as lovers. Some research suggests that half the Pashtun tribal members in Kandahar and other southern towns are bacha baz, the term for an older man with a boy lover. Literally it means “boy player.” The men like to boast about it.
in fact, they feminize these boys (they have to be beardless, long haired, and they make them dance like women), and then they argue they aren’t male anymore.
for the record, the afghan law offically forbid these practices.

Interesting that the only references to this practice link back to this article and some of the phrases in the article don’t ring true. The Woman are for Breeding, Boys are for Pleasure is not (at least originally) an Afghan saying for instance.
The author of the piece is a Pulitzer Prize winner but something about this doesn’t strike quite right. I am not saying it doesn’t happen, but this reads exactly like a propaganda piece.

Yes it does. The timing couldn’t be better either, coming up on another troop surge.
It is a tradition of the American war machine to dehumanize the enemy before we blow them to bits. That way, we aren’t blowing up farmers or tradesmen, we are blowing up wife beating pedophiles.
I mean, really, Who wouldn’t want to blast a bunch of people that have created a culture that supports and encourages adulterous wife beating kidfuckers?
This happens all the time in certain regions all over the world.
The enlighened westerner in me finds this repugnant, but to a degree this was entrenched in our cultural heritage, too.
Numerous references are made in the works of ancient greek philosophical texts.
Pre 20th Century Travelogues often described the arabs as collectively bisexual who’s lust extends to both men and boys.
Japanese warriors often had loverboys and during certain periods didn’t really had hide it.
…
The point is, what do people expect from Afghanistan? Democracy? -Lol, not with all these weapons, ideologies and ambitious warlords around, only an utter fool would think so.
It’s a bit like being outraged because of the puppies being thrown down the cliff (or this brand new puppy killing video, where this gal hurls them into a river).
Police in the middle east and south asia are largely a bunch of armed thugs, especially in the rural regions.
And their cultural background makes them rape pretty little boys.

Nope:
you’re fighting alongside these guys, you are giving them weapons, training and snappy manuals like “how to be a good democratic soldier”.
Too bad he wipes his hairy ass with the books prior to fetching himself some boy ass from the streets.
But, at least in exchange he’ll let you purchase some of his drugs.

Yep. We need to develop orbitting ordnance and simply bomb these place from space via satellite. Quit risking our finest to bring civilisation where such is not possible.
I told my kid at Navy to not go to that fcking place after training at Quantico and he agreed. Its a goatfck.
I know this: in a democratic country, we think we can solve complex problems with complex solutions - alas we cannot.
Some minority opinions want to “solve” it with simple solutions, like the board’s most lovable fascist just mentioned. But these solutions are just excuses for genocides and will at best, yield much, much greater problems, even for the country that “wins”.
The smartest solution, practically the only onw I see here, is to show forbearance.

How long you wanna bomb them?
Till they’ve “learned”?
Till they’re gone?

Nah, just bomb 'em at the first sign of trouble. We are, whether we like it or not, the world’s policeman. But we should only intervene at the first hint of trouble, just like a cop.
We should develop technology that doesn’t put our guys at risk. Maybe even something peaceful, like lobotomizing the entire population there with painless technology.

FWIW, I took this from a friend’s Facebook page who is currently deployed in A-Stan in this area of the country.
Some other Army dudes that responded to my friends FB page had said that when they deployed to this area they were warned about it.

But that is nothing new, dehumanising the people there when you are about to deploy. Rumours going around. Hitler has only got one ball etc.
In some shitholes of the world, street urchins are everywhere. In large parts of India, Pakistan, Afghanistan etc you can pretty much do whatever you want with them. And if you’re police, military, or have an otherwise respected position, nobody would dare to interfere.

God created the United States with a divine mission – to civilise the planet. As a strong Christian Nation (and getting stronger with the influx of Catholics from Mexico) it is our Manifest Destiny to remake Man into a moral being.
The barbarous practices you mention will be one of the first things to be eliminated.
