If it weren’t for the rhetorical bullshit and caustic (but often funny to a 3rd party) exchanges, this forum would be better titled as “Coffee With A Hipster” where everybody marches out their shiny new ideology and pats each other on the back about how smart we are, regardless of the fact that some things are time tested and proven to be stupid bullshit. Like your attempt at wrangling this forum into what you would like it to be, instead of what everyone else makes it.

I’m having a discussion about how to bring good posters and debate back to this forum. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask that lifty’s conspiracies or other posters banter go to other threads. There are plenty of “libertarian” and joke threads on this forum. I’m trying to have a discussion about the “serious” threads.

lift has good points but a bit too single track minded. I still think back to that tax=slavery discussion. I agree with many/most of the dudes sentiments but reality never seems to intrude into his thought processes.

Well, I started this thread because I had read other posters echoing some of the thoughts I was having. So I wanted to see what others thought. In terms of derogatory language, it’s pretty clear that while there are some that agree with me, many (most?) like the bitching back and forth. They think it’s fun and entertaining. I’m just asking for people to not do so on THIS thread.

One of the (interesting) issues that was brought up on this thread was how some “one trick ponies” seem to post in almost every thread about their pet “-ism” and derail threads because of it. The only part I would disagree with in your response pertains to the length that this topic has gone on as evidence that this is an interesting topic.
While a large majority of people may suffer from the attention span of a gnat, that is not the case with the dwellers of PWI. By and large they will work over a piece of poop down to the molecular level, extract all of the data they can from the analysis of said poop, then argue over the conclusions of what it originally was, and who ate it in the first place.
