Box Squats for Raw Lifters?

Using ‘squatting onto a box’ (squatting onto the box in my normal stance and driving up, as oppose to sitting waaaay back and pulling with your heels ala westside) did increase my raw squat, but only as a supplemental exercise, and for reps.

Never neglect your raw squat if you’re a raw lifter, but I do believe everything has its place. Even raw lifters can benefit from box squats, floor/board presses, bands and chains. (all in moderation).

It seems that Raw Competing Powerlifters don’t use box squats as much, it just seems like yesterday when everyone was doing or at least promoting box squats…it has cooled down.
