Book Club

Since it seems that everyone has a book club, why not us?
One of my favourite books is by Roger J. Williams, published by Fitzhenry & Whiteside Ltd., ISBN#0879838930 and the book’s tittle is “Biochemical Individuality”.
Pretty much sums up the content.

I just read…Fields of Honor…The Pat Tillman story…I’ve never been so inspired in my entire life…laughed, cried, seriously great book. As a college kid on summer break i rarely read, but this caught my attentiona nd i loved it so much i’m gonna try and start reading a book a week. This week its Junction Boys, and next week i’ve got lance armstrong’s book lined up.

I really enjoy Neal Stephenson. I’m about to start volume 2 in the Baroque Cycle.

Volume 1 Quicksilver
Volume 2 The Confusion

For some light summertime reading, try Vince Flynn. I really like his novels. http://www.amazon.com /exec/obidos/search-

For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway

A couple of books I continually read
Tiger Woods: How I Play Golf
Zen Golf
Science and Practice of Strength Training

I am in the middle of the Lance Armstrong book right now. Good read. I am going to love this thread. I used to not read much, but now i am addicted. I love knowledge.

I have read both Lance Armstrongs books, both very good, both very inspiring!
Also liked Black Hawk Down and NoMean Feet, about a New Zealand climber that lost both legs then climbed our biggest mountaiain.

My faves…
‘Blackhawk Down’ by Mark Bowden. Gripping action story, and a lesson in how American good intentions can be totally rejected by the local people.
‘Spring Snow’ by Yukio Mishima. A tragic love story bound with Japanese ideas of class and honor.
‘The Lord of the Rings’- what hasn’t been said about this book?
Anything by Hunter S. Thompson.

I just started re-reading Endymion by Dan Simmons. If you have not experienced him you are in for a treat. He writes and wins awards in several genres: horror, science fiction (start with Hyperion) and hard boiled detective fiction.

The book I’m reading is entitled “After Jihad” by Noah Feldman.
It talk about Islamic democracy and how/if it can be achieved.
What interested me in this book was the Islamic culture in general. I wanted to understand it from an objective point of view.

Blackhawk Down was a really good book, well-written and fast paced, I couldn’t put it down. The Da Vinci Code was interesting and a good read as well, I’m currently reading Guns, Germs, and Steel as well as Angels and Demons-the prequel to Da Vinci Code.

Psycho Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz is an outstanding self help book. The book I read (2 times in a row) was the one written in 1960. I’ve read hundreds of books over the years, many self help, novels, instructional etc. This is hands down the best I’ve read. The author teachs how to improve your self esteem, to be happier, less self consicience, more motivated. I can’t do it justice here but if you ever doubt yourself, think about what negative can happen then get this book. Hell even if your one of the rare few who has their shit totally together this would help. For $7 at barnes and noble it’s a life changer.
