Bone Size and Various Substances

So,hello to all members! My problem is,I think verry common amongst bbers and plifters.I have an average frame, although I see it small and weird(7 inch wrists, pretty wide palms and long forearm bones that make them look even smaller, wide hips and normal clavicles, which MAY still grow, pretty thick 10.5 inch ankles and generally thick legs,45 EU shoe size,so I’m not really proportional at 200 lbs and 6’1’').

My problem is,that I would like to do powerlifting/strongman,BUT I don’t think that my bones, joints and ligaments can handle it,yet.I’m 19,and I have no clue if I will grow anymore,or will I simply “fill out” or “thicken”.

I made a lot of research, and I found that HGH CAN actually thicken bones and ligaments, but the problem is that I don’t know what doses you need to accomplish that,I don’t know to what extent the bones thicken,is it significant or infirm, and what bones may thicken exactly.Besides HGH,Vitamin D,Calcitonin and teriparatide also contribute to bone formation,in some way.

Now,some of you will tell me that small bones/joints are a plus in bodybuilding, but that’s not my sport and will never be.I am really desperate to find a solution to this problem. If any of you had any experience with HGH or any other substance in this matter, please help me out.

I already read the experiences of Bushi with HGH and it is really heartening, but unfortunately he might be the only one who reported changes in this area from that substance.I am willing to take ANY risk just to thicken my bones/joints a little,so please if any of you can help in this matter,I await for your counsel.

Or should I train hard and eat big and sleep big,and wait until I am in my mid 20’s,because my body may grow a little bit?Or by putting on some serious weight(+100lbs),my body will be “fuller” and my joints and bones adapt and grow a little?
Thanks for the answers in advance!

I think your looking for a excuse to fail. Strongmen dont let the size of their wrists dictate how good they are. They just fucking do it.

x2. If matt kroc could do it, with his distance runner genetics, so can you.

Just Fucking lift dude, stop trying to come up with bullshit limitations on yourself

Just like strength training makes your muscles stronger, it’ll make your joints stronger too. You might not see the difference but you’ll feel it.

What do you mean “+100lbs” ?

20lbs of lean mass are enough to make a dramatic difference in strength and shape.
Have you started lifting ?

Besides if you run HGH you’ll probably end up with acromegalia, and you can fuck your hormonal system up way beyond recognition. The implications are far worse than simply requiring TRT if your balls quit working.

Even if you have a small frame, you still can have serious strength.

Thanks for the honest answer Reed.A little harsh, but still an honest one.The problem is,that this isn’t a mental, but a physical limitation.Larger frame and thicker joints help to lift bigger weoghts, unfortunately for me this is a fact. When your WRISTS fail durin benching, not your pecs, delts or arms, you think 2x if this is just a mental limitation or a physical one

Thanks for reading my question and taking the time to respond! What do you mean by distance runner genetics?A little bit more info on this, please. As far as I know,Matt Kroczaleski is one fucking huge dude, and I wouldn’t say he has a tiny frame by far.

Unfortunately this is more a physical than a mental limitation.I never payed attention to it,until all my bodyparts started to grow, and I observed the weak link:my thin bones,at least in my arms.No matter how motivated you are, with long arms and thin bones you won’t beat Eric Spoto’s records.

I hope that my joints will become stronger with powerlifting, but if my bones would thicken out a little bit won’t hurt.I’m not limiting myself physically,I still lift and I still see myself at the WSM despite anybody telling me to forget it.I never listened to demotivational words, but now I am realising that they were right, smaller bones and joints can really f**k up someone’s plans.
By +100 lbs I mean that I want to be heavier with at least 100 lbs(not just muscle of course),and I read somewhere that obese people’s bones are thicker because they need to support a much bigger weight, but I also read the opposite, that with weight increase bones won’t thicken.
Well I know that this have risks,I understand them perfectly. There was a saying, those who dare win.Maybe in my case this will be true, maybe not.
And yes I lift, and I love it and I will be doing it till’ I can breath. So I’m not limiting myself,I’m not searching for an excuse,I’m searching for a solution(even if it’s risky) to accomplish my dreams.

Man your letting your mind (mental) let you believe your going to fail because you are small framed guy. You are mentally putting a physical limitation on your self.

I am not a great strongman by any means, but with wrists about the same as yours at 210ish pounds body weight and only 5’6" I have pressed a 300lbs 12" Log, Push Pressed 315, Yoke Walked 750+, and Loaded 365 Atlas Stone. Are these WSM Weights fuck no but I’m willing to bet they are above what you do now (THIS IS NOT A INSULT) ,and I did them at about the same age, and frame as you with out HGH (Test, Deca, and Dbol but that’s neither here nor there). I am willing to bet had I not dropped Strongman about 6 months ago in favor of Powerlifting I would be ahead of those number by a little bit. Then add some lean body mass and push them even more. Maybe not to WSM numbers or even Nats but, to my fucking upper and outer limits because, I refuse to believe just because I am a short fat fuck that I cant be a short fat strong as fuck fuck. I don’t know what kind of man you are but, my mind is stronger than HGH. At the end of the day if your a weak minded pussy all the HGH in the world is not going to fix that.

HGH is only going to get you so far if any where at all. If you honestly believe your going to take HGH and go from 7in wrists to say 9-10in your pretty well mistaken. Also the shit is ungodly expensive and your 19 so unless mommy and daddy are just spoiling you rotten then I don’t know if you would financially realistically be able to keep up with the drug. At least at the doses you need to run to have a serious increase in bone mass.

If your wrists and other joints are what’s holding you back then learn to strengthen them specifically and when going for ME work WRAP THE FUCK UP. If your going for a all out OHP and your wrists are honestly whats holding you back, and your sure its not a technique issue or your vagina then wrap the piss out of them. That’s one of the beauties of Strongman. Unlike RAW Powerlifting Wrist Wraps, Elbow Sleeves ( even double ply ones ), Knee Sleeves ( even double ply ones ), Ankle Braces, Back Braces, 13mm Belts every thing you need to battle weak unstable joints is 100% allowed. I don’t recommend you training in them constantly but 2-3 weeks out of a meet start bring them in and by god use them for the meet. If it helps put weight up and keep you safe and healthy and you don’t use it your a moron and only fooling your self. No one cares in Strongman about what safety gear you wear unless specifically specified. I have seen guys wear Wrist Wraps, Elbow Sleeves, Compression Shirts, Compression Shorts, Knee Wraps and Oly Shoes to Log Press in hit 400+ and not a person questioned him.

Make up your mind and then do your best. Leave your all on the platform and maybe you will make it maybe you wont but, no one will think less of you if its honestly all you had.

Lastly I usually don’t mean to much offense but, most will agree here I may not be the most experienced and do a lot of stuff my own way and throw the book out the window but, I am for sure one of the most harsh, tell it like is, if you don’t like me then fuck you attitude having guy on these boards.

You didn’t offended me,I appreciate the fact that you are frank with me.You’re right,I can’t lift those weights, yet.
I’m not searching for an excuse, but for a partial soluiton.Don’t tell me that you never wanted to expand your frame, both in length and in width.I will try by any means to do what I can to maximize my potential and defeat my barriers, both physical ones and mental one.
And by the way, maybe involuntarily, but you motivated me with those numbers.

you think everyone but you comes out of the womb genetically perfect? No. Just keep lifting, everything will get stronger in time, even your mind.

You are 19 right? 200lb and 6ft 1" what BF percentage roughly? You sound pretty genetically gifted in that department I certainly weren’t 200lb at 19. I’m not even 200lb now at 27 haha.

Your growth plates haven’t closed of yet so don’t do any hgh or steorids or nothing if you lift heavy between now and 25 your bones will thicken by loads and if its a real priority for you then wrap up and just keep lifting as the guys have said but buy supplements that are for bones and joints and run them permanently.

Yes I’m 19.I just measured myself and I’m 93 kg,that’s roughly 205 pounds, and I’m not quite 6’1’',I’m 184 so that would be 6 feet 7â??16 inch(damn these metric systems),and I’m not lean by any means,I think I’m near 20 percent BF,but even if I would be at 10 that would be so little for my height.
Well I hope that my bones will thicken, and I will take calcium,Vitamin D,magnesium, collagen,MSM,glucosamine and even flurbiprofen(I found that on the forum,so thanks T-Nation!).
Sam,what are your stats and records, out of curiosity?
Thanks for dropping by and taking the time to respond!

What your lifting stats right now

Well then, you should research photos of him when he was in the army. Fucking small. Also, phiole heath just came to my mind. Look at his basketball era photos. Sure, nice round muscle bellies, buy beyond that, a really small frame. You are looking for your excuses. Your wrists give out? Why not use some wrist wraps, like the rest of us?

Hey Dustin, the problem is that I never was consistent with training, because of health problems, surgery, exams and a job in a foreign country,so I resumed training last week,so I will post my records after a few months of training. My greatest accomplishment so far is closing COC #2 three times, even if that’s not a plifting record.By the way, you’ve come a long way, good job with your training!

So you have only been training for a few weeks and are considering drugs? You need to eat, lift, sleep and then repeat this for atleast a year or two before thinking about any kind of drugs. You don’t know what your physical limitations are because no offense you haven’t trained long enough or hard enough to even almost know what your physically capable of.

Thanks man I am doing my best.

I started training 3 years ago,but with some interruptions, and I resumed training last week, after a 5 month break. You’re right,I’ve never before trained for long enough to see significant changes, and we all know that consistency will give the best results.
