and a happy frenchie is what we want! (I thought is was l’Main)

That gym is awesome! So jealous.

Sorry about the thumb. I’ve def dislocated my thumb (both actually) on multiple occaissons, usually falling down on the pitch.

Nice training as usual. I watched your vids, totally forgot what a jacked little hottie you are - yum!

kimba - yea I try to convert everyone to hip extensions, they’re a kick ass movement

nlmain - thanks and okay we’ll go with frenchie

Masch - I would’ve pulled deads if I had dislocated my thumb but it’s actually a carpal bone in my hand, womp womp

Here’s a video we took of the guys pulling deads without me :frowning: I’m in the background yelling at Adam on one of them.

Again, everyone else got to lift heavy while I did stupid light weights. Next week I’ll be on! Messed around with different feet position in the bench set up. Still haven’t found a favorite. Don’t know if anyone reads this but I’d be interested to hear about different set ups and why you like yours. Whole workout - http://bobbiskai.blogspot.com/2010/11/powerlifting-westside-me-bench.html

Bench setup is something I’m playing with now for the first time, so I’ll be interested to see how you go. Where are your hands on the bar? Pinkies on rings? Wider or closer?

When I’m going heavy it’s ring or middle finger on rings. Sometimes I put my whole hand just inside the rings. Last night I was way inside, just a thumbs length from the smooth middle of the bar. Speed bench earlier this week was the same way. I haven’t found a favorite grip so I want to hear what other people like and why.

little finger touching the rings
toes on the floor - not flat feet
arched back

edit: I was mindful of my grip position this week and my hands are an inch inside from the rings. Narrower grip than I initially thought.

I must have flat feet, otherwise there is no hope for leg drive. Right now I’m playing with pinkies near but not touching the rings. Wider seems to mess things up, but that is probably because I’ve always trained with a close grip – thumbs length from the smooth middle.

Speed lower day. Still wore a soft hand brace but felt strong. And a VIDEO (since I know ya’ll love em so much) of “Lexen” deadlifts. http://bobbiskai.blogspot.com/2010/11/powerlifting-westside-de-squat-and.html

How’s the hand doing? Hurt much?

those lexen deads look brutal. don’t know if I could do them heavy without a belt.

Hand is pretty good. OT said it could be some weird deformation of bones from lack of blood supply from trauma to the wrist (broke both twice). Banking on it isn’t that. Just wrapping it up. Don’t feel too much if any pain. We’ll see when we have speed bench tomorrow/max bench on Thursday this week. Thanks for asking Cal.

I’m sure you could handle it just fine. My deal is if I can break it I can pull it so these are a cake walk.

my bench setup is pinkies about 1/2" inside ring, wider I go, less tuck I have and start flaring too early and has potential to hurt my old shoulders…I have strong triceps. My arch is getting better, I am short waisted (ok, short everything ) I’m also flat footed, when I try up on my balls or toes and drive, my drive goes right thru my toes and my legs start shaking like crazy…

Lexen pulls, 2 step DL, what is it suppose to help with?

My grip is fairly narrow too. Pinkies about an inch inside the rings. Balls of feet always otherwise I can’t keep my arch as tight. Bar touches my body at the very top of my abs, which is the highest part of my body given my arch and belly full of air.

My grip used to be very wide, pointer finger on the rings, lol…
which is probably why I have a hurty shoulder now.

Nowadays when I bench I take a very close grip…pointer fingers in between the curling and rings.very super small arch, shoulder blades together and down.

Good notes. They’re for breaking a sticking point below the knee, which isn’t my sticking point, I just thought I’d be a team sport for the day and do them too.

Do you have any pics/vids of your arch?

I’ve benched quite a bit with pointer finger on rings as well. It’s especially nice when I’m doing those 25-50 rep sets. Do you have a small arch because of flexibility or you just like benching pretty flat?
