I know this is kind of odd, but I’ve wondered about it for a while. I’d like to know if either blood or platlet donations are going to derail strength training or recovery in any significant manner.
Giving blood every 8 weeks is infrequent enough that I don’t really worry about that. I can give in the afternoon, and work out the following morning and I feel fine; no blowouts or subsequent bleeding.
But what about platelets? They can puncture you every few days to no ill effects on normal people. Platelets wouldn’t seem to have any appreciable effect, given their role. Rather than do platelets every eight weeks, I’d like to give weekly or bi-weekly. Does anyone have medical or anecdotal evidence that this would cause ill-effects?
ive donated platelets before, and have not had any problems with lifting the next day. never tried right after donating. B/c you are not actually losing any blood when donating platelets you feel fine afterwards. It just takes about 1hr 1/2- 2hrs. Also, i could be wrong, but im pretty sure you cant donate platelets 2x a week. Not sure about that though.
