once you get your blocking technique down can be the first to practice with you? i’m itching to test out my new steel toe boots.
kick them in the balls first.
what kind of fighting stance are you in? there’s one sure-fire way to avoid getting kicked in the balls - get into a Tae Kwon Do fighting stance. Don’t square up against an opponent, but stand with your side to them, with a cross gaurd. When in a cross guard, keep your bottom hand in front of your groin.
What’s good about this is that now, it will require a roundhouse kick (circular) instead of a front kick (linear) to hit your groin, which gives you a LOT more time to block that kick (ie by pushing out your hip). Even if the kick does land, you’ll have your hand in front of your groin. That kick will still hurt your balls, but it will take a significant amount of pain away from the kick had the hand not been there.
I’ve been kicked square in the balls a few times. Funny thing is the only two times it put me down was when a female did it. The other times it just really pissed me off. Anyone ever have blood in their urine?
I have blood in my urine, but it’s not from a bag-tag. Why does it have to hurt so much when I pee? I mean, come on.
Yeah I’ve had blood in my urine before - pissed a litre out after getting a knee to the kidney playing ball. Didn’t realize anything was wrong till I went to piss at half time. Talk about a surprise, it was fucking clumpy and wouldn’t stop coming out.
OOOO!! Josher, you just made me cringe, dude! Ouch! Kidney shots suck!
Yeah it’ll get you on your tip-toes.
only had blood come out when I was on effexor 150mg., dbol, winny tabs and was drinking a 12 pack per night.
Anyone see a problem with this?
I like a technique I borrow from Savate (french kickboxing). It’s called the “Coup de avant bas” or something. The idea being to place the sole of your front foot on the instep or shin of your opponent’s kicking leg. It’s a nifty defense since you can often smell a power kick coming, and it places your opponent off-balance.
For street fighting, use a booted foot to the top of the patella of the kicking leg. That’s pretty debilitating.
You can also step across and into the kick, absorbing the force on your sturdy t-man hamstrings (which you got from dead-lifting) and counter with a back fist or rising elbow.
Okay musclehead, here is what I have found to be the best way to block a kick in the groin. The first thing you have to do is to look at your stance. Hopefully, if someone is going to attempt to kick you in the nuts you aren’t going to be standing there with your legs wide open! Most likely it would occur in some sort of fighting situation. So, hopefully you are in a proper fighting stance with at least one foot slightly forward with the other one back and slightly to the side. The key is to have your shoulders and hips squared to your opponent. Now, to blocking the groin kick. In Krav Maga, they teach a method where you use the lead leg to aggressively glide accross your body during the groin kick attempt. If it is done properly, the kick will be knocked off kilter just enough that you should be able to jack your opponent with a cross to the head. The opponent’s momentum should propel them to your opposite lead leg side. This technique ensures safety for your lower leg and groin.
The key is to not stand motionless in front of someone who may try to kick you in the groin. If you can kick and punch then you should be kicking and punching him. If you’re more apt to grapple then close the gap and take him down so he cannot kick you. I’d stay away from the Tae Kwon Do stance in a real fight, too little offense and you can get taken down easily. In a real fight you need to stand more or less square to your opponent, point sparring is different.
A little off topic but alot what of has been said so far about ‘stances’ has got me thinking.
Often in a street fight you’re normally standing square on to the guy because you’re exchanging ‘pleasantries’. Then it may escalate to the point where it kicks off. You will give up the element of suprise if you adopt a ‘fighting stance’ but it is a disadvantage to be totally square cause you are very easily pushed over and open to strikes.
So what you do is adopt a more subtle stance by sliding your ‘rear’ leg back into a smaller fighting stance, use verbal or gestures to disguise this movement though and you won’t have lost the element of a suprise necessary for a pre-emptive strike or rapid defense. Voila!
Just like any kind of training, the ability to absorb a kick to the balls can be learned through progressive overload. This is best done with a partner. Drop trou and lie on the ground. Have your partner start by holding a penny at arm’s length and dropping it on your boys. Work your way up to quarters. Once you are here, you will need to make the jump to larger objects. Finding objects that will increase the training stimulus keeps training interesting. Studies have shown that the force dealt to your cajones from a bowling ball (16lbs) dropped from 1.5 meters above is greater than 99.4% of all kicks to the groin that you will receive. So there is not much need to progress too far past a bowling ball.
After this dynamic work, consider throwing in some assitance work via isometric training. This is best done with a vice. Just place your jewels in the vice and start squeezing. This will slowly increase your berries’ elasticity, which will increase the amount of force that they can absorb.
Good luck!
There ya go TommyGun, that’s darn good advice. It’s just like everything else. You start small, and work your way up. I’m on quarters from 1 yard up right now, but I think it’s just newbie gains because I just started yesterday. What’s everybody else’s 1RM?
What Mr. Braswell said.
I didn’t read any replies so if this is redundant oh fucking well.
Turn your hips to the side and take the blow to the hip or upper thigh. Your weight should be on the balls of your feet for fast action if you’re in any situation where a strike of any sort may come your way. Both of your feet will still be on the ground but one of his won’t, so move on him then.
