Bleach: Not Just a Household Cleaner!

That’s right, I think Bleach needs it’s own thread.

Bleach fags report in!

This weeks topic of discussion: Most bad ass character.

I will start the proceedings by voting for Byakuya, followed very closely by Kenpachi. Byakuya doesn’t change the tone of his voice for ANYONE and is an all round bad ass, and Kenpachi is just insane. Anyone who deliberately weakens themselves and gives the opponent an advantage has to be pretty bad ass. Although Kurotsuchi does appeal to my “I want to hurt people” side.

Bro…this is some weird fucking shit.

blasphemy!!

Naruto ftw

Fuck…this …show…

Bleach and Naruto are for fags.

I’m sorry, Mak. I’m so sorry.

I’m hooked.

I checked it out at Hulu. It’s more adult than Naruto, and toned down a lot of the spastic-face-outrageous-comedic elements that I absolutely hate in Japanese drawn-media.

Granted, I’m only five eps in, but I like the sword-slinging ESP elements. I keep thinking that this is what Ghost Whisperer should have been, just with more tits.

I also like how they’re not afraid to translate it as ‘big ass’ sword. The total feel is more adult.

Wol wouldn’t know quality if he woke up next to it after a night of hard drinking still somewhat intoxicated and proceeded to vomit all over it.

I take that back. That’s probably the only way Wol would know quality.

Alternatively, that’s the only quality he’ll ever know. I’m not sure which way is more comedic/insulting.

Bleach: Nirvana’s best album.

I stopped watching this a while ago, but will argue to the death for Kenpachi being the most badass.

DBZ

PLEASE, bleach is just a bad copy of dragonball

Berserk is the best thing, all that gore and anti political correctness, with the most awesome story ever

Super nerd post inc, cause Bleach might be the only anime I’ve ever really gotten into:

The over the top Japanese slapstick is almost entirely absent(it sneaks it’s way in here and there) from the manga adapted episodes, Tite Kubo wrote this as a very dark/adult story. The beginning especially is pretty harsh with the detailed introductions to hollows and what they’re about. The filler episodes made to give him time to write more material however can get a little on the ridiculous side(Bount arc was ok, but I swear it gets worse everytime they have to start a new filler arc), so you may find yourself skimming/skipping some of the more annoying episodes on those.

As far as most badass goes, Kenpachi/Aizen/Byakuya/Ulquiorra, the last 3 all have that quiet confident/arrogant badassery about them that makes me not want to leave them out, even if Kenpachi is the true definition of the word.

I think I kept this post spoiler free for anyone who is just getting into it(hulu has like 120 episodes, but you can google around and find a number of sites with all 265, and all the manga chapters if you’re into that).

Care to explain how…[/quote]

Well first, it follows the “X cant beat Y, so he go to Z to learn some super new technique that will make Y easy to beat, but once Y is down, you learn that he was the weakest of them all!!! and here we go again”

No one ever really die…

Those super transformation that makes them stronger…

popular character showing when everything is going wrong

Bleach is the next gen DBZ

edit: theres more but I havent watched bleach in a while

I don’t know if you know this, but that basically describes Japanese anime, and comic culture in general(anime is adapted from manga, which is their comics for anyone unaware).

The super transformation thing is also EXTREMELY over simplified, they don’t just get an aura from screaming a bit more, change hair color and thus get stronger(see I can do it too!)

I could actually really break into how each of those points is pretty bad, but I don’t want to create spoilers for people this thread generates interest in.

WDF?

am with iron dwarf, nirvanas bleach FTW!

So we’ve quickly come full circle to you incorrectly believing Bleach to be a DBZ copy, excellent. Quick, name me a major protagonist that dies in Naruto(filler characters don’t count, they’ve died in Bleach too). Here check this:

Naruto Uzumaki (ã??ã??ã?¾ã?? ã??ã?«ã??, Uzumaki Naruto?) is the primary protagonist of the Naruto series. He was the first character created by Kishimoto during the conception of the series, and was designed with many traits from other shÅ?nen characters, including Son Goku of the Dragon Ball series.[7] In the series, Naruto has ambitions of becoming Hokage, the leader of Konohagakure. Because he is the host of the nine-tailed demon fox, a malevolent creature that attacked Konoha, he is ostracized by the other villagers.[13] He compensates for this with his cheerful and boisterous personality, and over the course of the series, manages to befriend many foreign and Konoha ninja. He develops an especially close relationship with Sasuke Uchiha, one of his fellow ninja in Team 7, and treats him as his brother.

Goku: ambitions of becoming the best fighter in that one tournament, host of the Saiyan demon form(a malevolent monkey looking thing that has destroyed planets before), compensates for this by being very friendly and boisterous, over the course of the series manages to befriend many foreign fighters, even one especially close relationship with Vegita, a fellow Saiyan, and treats him like a brother.

I have seen exactly 0 episodes of Naruto, but still felt confidence that a quick google search would yield an easy ‘link’ to dbz if I cared to interpret it as such. BECAUSE THAT’S HOW ANIME WORKS(with some exceptions, but pretty much all of the popular ones work like this, just like comic book heroes and western cartoons, and hollywood movies).

You are delusional and getting all emo on me

I have watched bleach until the part where ichigo is fighting that dude with multiple arms AND YOU KNOW WHO come and save the day, you know like how vegita LOVE TO DO

I gave up on Bleach long ago. The story line became a bit repetitive for me after a while. Go back and forth into undead and living worlds, then get stronger and pile up a bunch of upgrades on top of pre-existing skills. Blah, blah, blah…

I’m currently up to date on Naruto and One Piece. I have also read Berserk and Gantz and plan to follow up on them in the future.
