Protien shakes with a spoonfull of ovlive or coconut oil is a great way to bump cals up
Got back to my regular scale. Not putting on weight, fat dropped .2%, calipers say I’m closer to 10%, and these Aria scales are known not to do too great a job at bf%. The key takeaway is that bf% is dropping, not so much the number itself as it seems inaccurate.

179.6 lbs 13.9% fat

181.5 lbs 14.1% fat
Hrm. Two and a half weeks in, should I not have put on even a lb or two? Based on my reading I guess I may be on the threshold right now - meaning the increased t-cyp is just about to kick in at this point. Just logging everything here for the next old fart to come along to try this.
Gym today - added weight to squats and leg assists. So stronger. Hoping/wanting even more.

It’s still early. Don’t worry. At your dose you WILL see results. The fact that you are adding weight is a good sign and there is more to come.
As far as your scale goes. Don’t put much faith in the body fat readings. They use Bioelectrical impedance which is not really accurate. Consumer Reports tested body fat scales and found them all to be inaccurate. Factors such as body type, body temperature, hydration, and recent exercise can have a noteworthy impact on the number you see on the scale. Even wet or sweaty feet can skew the results. If you are checking at the same time of day and trying to insure the same level of hydration they can be used as tool for gauging fat gain or loss but still an inaccurate number to say the least.
So this morning I during my workout - still adding weight btw - I felt like I was going to cry. Mind you I’m not normally someone who gets upset about shit. I have no history of panic attacks, depression or any of that mental mumbo jumbo. I think my e2 is spiking. Only real explanation for this. I’m considering upping my anastrazole dosage - I still have 3.5 weeks before my planned blood draw.
I figure I can gauge my e2 by mood, wood, and popping joints until then.
Folks input on this would be appreciated.
That is generally how you gauge it. If you are feeling like a woman. Irrational, unreasonable, wanting to cry for no reason (or because the cashier at the supermarket didn’t say hello politely enough) that sounds like high e2. If your levels go too low you will feel the lack of estrogen in your joints. Adjust your dose as necessary
I’ve been on .5mg e2d (normally .25mg e2d for TRT)
One testosterone only beginner’s cycle protocol I researched suggested .5mg every day on 600mg of testosterone cypionate. I think I may be a candidate for this. 3 weeks is just about time for the increased dose to start kicking in.
Every person responds to test and the AI differently. You may need more or less. I need 1mg EOD. You should adjust as your body tells you to.
Switching to .85mg e2d anastrazole, seeing how that goes…
Beginning the 4th week of my cycle:
Another decent workout, nothing massive, but added weights to dumbell flys, side laterals and crouched laterals.
The added anastrazole seems to be doing it’s job in keeping my mood in check. Still not gaining much in the body weight department, maybe up .5 lbs. Stupid bathroom scale says my bf% is up.
I’m sprinting now on days I’m not lifting just to make sure my bf% doesn’t go up.
Almost done with my 1st 10mL 250mg/mL testosterone cypionate bottle.
Getting stronger, still adding weight to workouts, both compounds and dumbbell splits… Don’t feel superhuman, but definitely stronger. It’s taking a little longer to fall asleep at night, maybe 30 minutes as opposed to winking out immediately as usual.
Given there is no log here I could find from someone my age on their first cycle, I figured I’d document the crap out of mine. Hope this helps someone in the future.
I have been watching your posts.
Cpl observations (from an older guy that blasts and cruises)
-
Your workouts: seem really intense. I read a post by some guy talking about volume
in your training etc, but sometimes less is more.
My .02 is that you are over training and under eating. -
Give up the sprints for now. Your muscles need time to grow.
A truism I have picked up over the years for muscle growth:
#1 Diet #2 Training #3 Proper rest (days off and sleep) #4 Gear. -
Your BF scale will show you higher bf% the day after an injection
even with proper AI dosage. For now forget about bf%, you want new muscle
which requires extra calories. I am betting you are too focused on bf%, let it go for now.
To gain muscle and lose bf at the same time is near impossible…plus you are already
lean. Eat more, rest more, get rid of your sprints. -
I always get insomnia when I blast, even with test. It’ll pass, Melatonin is a great
natural help. 10mg an hour before bed…ZMA works great too.
Keep up the good work.
Thank you for your response PKNY. We’ll see what tomorrow’s chest workout brings!
Any plans to get mid cycle blood work done ?

Yep, have the order in hand. Was planning on doing it on the 6th week.
So at this point in your cycle, are you satisfied with what you have gained ?
Strength and size wise ?
@PKNY, thank you for the interest:
Just ended my 4th week, (started 6-23) so I think gear is just starting to kick in, I did no orals.
I’m getting stronger every workout. Adding 5lbs per session on the compounds and sometimes go up 5lbs on dumbbell splits. Definitely stronger. In this department I’m happy.
Physical Comp: I’m certainly getting more cut, my abs are starting to stand - had the outline of the pack, pec cut and abdominal “scoops”, but now I’m starting to see the midline cut across the pack - very satisfying. I’m getting more vascular. I feel tighter. My weight however isn’t going up. I cut sprints completely - I flippin’ hate them anyway. I eat like a fookin’ horse. I have two sometimes three protein shakes on workout days, I eat POUNDS of meat and veggies - to the point of really not being able to eat much more. I’m losing weight. I’m fairly strict paleo - but I’ve recently gone to town on carbs like corn tortillas and sour cream etc. Have begun using dairy a bit too. Maybe I should start gobbling rice. I’m wheat intolerant for the record.
I’ve dropped creatine from my shakes as it seemingly bloats me. Still do leucine and glutamine. I’m hovering around 179lbs - kinda stuck here. Somethings gotta give. I figure I’m just getting started and thats why folks do dbol orals often in their first cycles - it has to be more satisfying.
The light insomnia is gone now - which is nice. I’m not sure 8 hours is cutting it, though I’m not as sore on days off as I used to be. If by the end of next week I don’t feel like a ranging bull I’ll start wondering about my gear. It’s from a reputable lab that checks out all over the place, I doubt it’s the issue.
All in all I walk taller and feel pretty damned good. Let’s see what 8 more weeks does for this old workhorse.
Melatonin, 5 HTP, L Theanine, and Magnesium+Calcium will help with sleep…taurine can make you sleepy as well but I use it mid day…
I doubt your gear is bunk.
I know we talked about it earlier in this thread, but I have had similar experiences
with Cyp and Enth. Where I made gains, but felt like they should have been
much more substantial given the amount of exercise, food, sleep and gear I was getting.
You still have a way to go on your cycle, and I am interested in your gains at
the end of the 12 weeks. My suspicion is that your low SHBG isn’t allowing you
the full expression of the Test you are taking.
Hoping you can locate some good quality Test Prop after your cycle, and
just use that in your regular TRT routine for comparisons sake.
I recently heard from a friend (literal bro-science) that one should allow ones e2 to raise a bit beyond the 20s during a cycle, that it helps with muscle growth. Anyone care to weight in?
Strength down today. I don’t think I ate enough yesterday. Bench down about 10%. Maybe e2 issues.
