Black Teen Shot by Neighborhood Watch

Thank you, I appreciate the empathy from you and the other posters.

To be clear, I am not attempting to “one up” on who is the most discriminated against. I very much understand blacks (and lots of other people) have had shitty times in this world.

My point is to not let the fuckers get you down. If the fuckers kept my people down, we’d have disappeared in Babylon circa 500 BCE and be a footnote in history.

So some asshole treats you like a thief in a jewelry store?

Take your business elsewhere, I say.

And don’t give it another thought. They’ll go out of business. Just watch.

It’s a mentality of refusing to be oppressed, and intentionally seeking out the good people, of whatever race, creed, or color they are.

Not that it matters, but the shooter is Hispanic, not “white” as in “anglo.”
Being Hispanic doesn’t absolve him from racism. I live in Miami, and the Cubans I’ve met are the most racist. They’re even racist against other Hispanics. I don’t know if this guy is Cuban, or possibly Jewban-judging by the last name, but he probably was suffering from some kind superiority complex like most of them, but there’s no way out of it at this point for this particular asshole.

We have more options now so eventually, yes, it will be as simple as just taking our business elsewhere. growing up, I don’t think we knew more than one or two black doctors. Now, that’s changed. I can avoid the expensive shops who turn their noses up at me…and go spend my money at the shop down the street.

But that only came about because the ones who came before us fought for it instead of just saying, “aw man, just man up and deal with it”.

No, we aren’t going to just deal with it…and this kid died for no reason…and yeah, it will be the center of attention until we find out how the hell a kid dies under these circumstances and the man who did it just walks away.
Professor X wrote:

I agree with that. But now that we know this kid was chased and on the phone, how does this equal “stand your ground”?
I’m not sure how the stand your ground provision applies here:

http://www.cnn.com/2012/03/21/opinion/bellin-stand-your-ground-law/index.html?hpt=hp_bn6

From the above article:

I still give the police and DA the benefit of the doubt that the reason no charges have been brought up is they are still doing their due diligence in their investigation, in order to make sure what he is ultimately charged with sticks and they are able to take it to trial.

I also now expect knee jerk reactions by lawmakers, thanks to general panic that the media is causing over the whole stand your ground/duty to retreat aspect of this.

^ what I (and others) do not get is how the kid action in self-defense gets shot by the guy who was clearly the aggressor and HeE claims self-defense.

I think the issue is that there is only one side of the story. Zimmerman may have said he chased but didn’t start the physical altercation. Again, I think since it is the prosecutions job to prove it wasn’t in self defense, charges have not been brought until they have enough evidence to convict (at this point going to trail w/o enough evidence and acquitting would look worse than no charges at all IMO - see Casey Anthony trial).

If the guy walks then it, in essence, green lights starting fights then shooting the other person.

This is all worthless noise. How can someone claim self-defense on an altercation that they started??? Some weird man follows you in his car, runs up to you without identifiying himself thus altercation ensues? Put that bitch in the ground. IMO The kid is the only one who can claim self defense.

I am sorry, but, for such big dudes, you and Professor X are complete pansies.

As you can probably guess from my name, I come from a people who have a rather storied history of being shit upon.

We’ve been (like your people) slaves.

Nations have systematically discriminated against us for over 2,000 years, forbidding us to own land, persue professions, vote, whatever.

The Europeans kept us in ghettos (that’s where the word comes from, BTW)

We been expelled from contries, en masse, repeatedly

Nations have repeatedly tried to murder us, en masse.

Today, we are routinely attacked by terrorists in our country of origin and abroad (like, say, France, where little kids were murdered a couple days ago).

Iranians and others are striving to nuke us.

In fact, here’s a bit of “discrimination” I’ve had personally:

My wife murdered

My unborn child murdered in my wife’s womb

I’ve had scrapnel pulled out of basically every limb of my body.

In the USA, walking to shul in Brookline, MA, I was hit on the back of the head with a cobblestone by some white guy screaming “fucking Joooooos.” Gave me a concussion.

On the Berkeley Campus, visiting my new wife, I, my wife, and my 3 month old child were pelted with human shit and told to “go back to Israel” by some asshole who sprinted away.

Walking past the “Occupy Wall Street” morons, I got “joooo” and “fuck Israel” catcalls.

In Houston a couple weeks ago, I was putting gas in my rental car by the airport, when 3 or more black boys in a car launched a slurpee at my back, covering me with red sticky crap as they drove away — screaming “fuck you Jew!”

And that’s what I remember off the top of my head. Not a week goes past without some random person making shitty comments.

And sadly, my experience is hardly unique. While Jewish people amount to 1.8% of the USA population, we are the victims of 69% of religion-based hate crimes (yes, I will give you a link if you want it), and something like 16% of all hate crimes overall.

Now, I could be a pansy, and whine about people not “understanding the Jewish experience.”

But, I am not a pansy.

Instead, I chose to be happy, have a great and loving family, serve G-d and my fellow man, and do financially very, very, well, and not let the assholes get me down.

And I am hardly unique. Jewish folk do great overall in the USA.

Far better than average, in fact, despite widespread discrimination.

(In fact, the group most likely to be anti-semitic in the USA are — ready ---- blacks.) (And yes, I am happy to provide a cite to this.)

++++++++

Oh, and as aside, how much did affirmative action help me get into MIT and, later, Harvard Law? None at all.

Bumpkiss.

In fact, when I went to Harvard, they had a maximum number of Jewish students because we were doing too well, and they wanted to keep our numbers down.

+++++++++

In short, the victim mentality is a sure-fire way to be a loser.
Sorry for your loss, man.

Where on earth does all that shit come from? What happens in and around Israel I understand, considering your neighbors.

But in the U.S. ? What perceived beef do people there have with you guys, anyway? What history?

Can’t say I’ve ever heard my few jewish friends and acquaintances say anything about being discriminated against here… Maybe some in the big cities if they’re unlucky enough to run into some wannabe-nazis… Do you dress in orthodox jewish garb (whatever it’s called, I’m not overly familiar with your religion I’m afraid) that makes you stand out or something? Without that, I wouldn’t even be able to tell you from adam.

Sounds like you’d be safest living in rural Germany or something… Ironically.
I hope you and your family stay safe… Or as safe as you can be, anyway.

That’s how I see it as well.
Trayvon even tried to get away from Zimmerman - first by walking fast, then running. But he finally got cornered by Zimmerman. In that situation ANY ONE OF US MEN on here would have fought this stalker. And that’s exactly what Zimmerman was, a stalker.

Also, I’m sure Zimmerman did not have his gun out until the last moment. That stupid law in FL rules that displaying of your gun n an attempt to intimidate is a mandatory 3 year prison term. Zimmerman knew this. And the main reason that law is so fucking stupid is, anyone who DOES pull his firearm out with intent to intimidate knows he must use it, and hope for a kill.

I experienced this for the first time when working in Chicago. I had a Mexican supervisor and a Puerto Rican supervisor and while they got along great, there were racial slurs that were thrown between them, mostly how blacks call each other the N-word. But apparently, there is a rift between Hispanics of different country origins.

Zimmerman’s claim of self-defense would NOT hold up in court.

Even if it was self defense, it would have had to been justifiably reasonable defense. Basically he only would be protected under deadly self-defense if the black teen had been using deadly force in the first place. And I’m pretty sure he wasn’t.

Summed up nicely in this statute (different state but mostly the same everywhere):

EDIT:
And here’s an article even talking about it: George Zimmerman Unprotected By Self-Defense Law in Trayvon Martin Killing, Florida Lawmakers Say | HuffPost Voices

I have no doubt when this goes to court he will be convicted.

The hate comes from the fact that Christians blame the Jews for Jesus’s death and the fact they don’t recognize him as the Messiah. Jews are still waiting for one so that automatically makes them an enemy of Christians. It also comes from the fact that Jews always seem to prosper. They were always the jewelers and bankers and always had financial means. And that caused animosity because why should non-Christians, especially the people who were responsible for Jesus’s death prosper while good, God-fearing Christians suffer in poverty?

Banking and the charging of interest for borrowing money was considered usery and a sin, so that line of work was thrust upon Jews by the Christians. Just an interesting historical note.

My guess that many who hate Jews hate anyone else they think somehow got it better than them and deserve it less.

Thanks for the article.
This quote is great:

"Dennis Baxley, a Republican state representative and co-author of the 2005 self-defense law, said Zimmerman negated his ability to claim immunity under the law by chasing Martin.

“This law is for innocent, law-abiding citizens who are under attack by a perpetrator,” Baxley told The Huffington Post. “Anyone who is out pursuing and confronting people is not protected by this statute.”

“I think they need to go back and read the statute,” Baxley said, referring to the Sanford Police Department."

Oh, and as aside, how much did affirmative action help me get into MIT and, later, Harvard Law? None at all.

Bumpkiss.

In fact, when I went to Harvard, they had a maximum number of Jewish students because we were doing too well, and they wanted to keep our numbers down.

I think your last sentence states the issue perfectly.

They need to do more than that. They showed favoritism because he was known in the precinct. Why test the boy’s body for drugs and alcohol and not the guy who shot him? They were looking for a way out of that screw up…that is the ONLY reason to do that.

This whole thing stinks…and the cops who let that man walk home free are just as much to blame.

I honestly didn’t know that could even happen until this…go out, shoot someone…and then they just say, “goodbye!!!” as you walk your ass back home like nothing happened.

I also don’t doubt that Zimmerman would claim he isn’t a racist.

There seem to be tons of people lately (just like we’ve seen in this thread) who do a shitload of “profiling”…but would consider the act completely devoid of racism…even when blatantly calling the kid “suspicious” because he was walking in the rain with a hood on.

Recap:
-Hoodrat now means “black guy with hood on”
-All of those guys who made grabbing at your crotch or waist a cool thing in the freaking 80’s in rap…somehow get ignored because it just means GUN now.
-Running away from someone now means you can kill them and claim self defense if they get any jabs in after you catch them.
-If one black person commits a crime, every black person after that will be watched for the potential to do the same.

LOL at “individuality”.

I’ve heard the about the interest thing before… Is that really something people still think about? Does the average poor guy even know about this? Scratch that… Where does the average person, poor or not, learn about this? History class? And if so, that’s actually something they remember and use as justification for the behavior described by our resident hairy space-Jew?

Amazing.
