Which is exactly why I mentioned that they are nothing more than inflammatory pro-Martin propaganda. Are you suggesting they AREN’T being used that way? That there is a deeper level of irony or subtext in them that actually lambasts the people who believe what the comic is depicting?
Are you suggesting that they AREN’T portraying a version of events that is inarguably lagging behind the current knowledge of the situation being discussed?
You said you disagreed with them depicting outdated information. Support this assertion with current facts.

And that’s precisely why it’s pretty fucking stupid to be lobbing them out into a discussion that is having a hard enough time staying on-topic and intelligent as is.
Anyhow, I’m guessing it’s about time for people to start contributing “funny” pictures in the hopes of giving relevancy to irrelevant points?
I mean, I can see using the images as a platform for furthering the discussion… but spamming the thread with them while contributing nothing more substantial really gives the impression that THAT’S the POV held by the poster.

They may be wrong in this thread but for the general public i’m sure this is pretty much what they are thinking and they may be pro-martain but only because that is the way the wind is blowing. The public see martain as a young teen, the comic highlights/blows up this but drawing him as a child with sweets. The papers are only feeding the public view.
I never said they were true more they are representing the majority view.
Which i suppose still means they shouldn’t be in this thread…

Some of DarkNinja’s cartoons were hilarious, still, since a ninja is a dark, hooded guy I cannot laugh while feeling threatened.
The real scumbags are, of course, the legislators.
Z. might be a scumbag, too, and I’d say might because it’s mighty possible, but this whole thing could really be just an accicent with him now saying everything he has to in order to cover his ass.
So I won’t cast stones. Presumption of innocence and so on.
The black panthers seem incredibly hostile to me.
If my ass would be dark, I’d hate those guys with a passion.
Essentially, use of the word ‘black’ in that context has to disapear.
How are we supposed to enjoy a peaceful, forward looking society where “white” and “black” aren’t amployed but for the most naive and immediate usage?

You mean like, “Oh my God, there’s a BLACK man in the WHITE House!”?

Martin’s family, lawyer, girlfriend, and sympathizers are going to say any and everything to get Zimmerman indicted and convicted.
Zimmerman’s family, lawyer, “eye witnesses”, etc are going to do everything to get him acquitted.
Is there any debate over that? Don’t all cases end up this way? A guy who does something wrong and knows it isn’t going to admit it. Family and friends of a guy who did something wrong are still going to back him up. Lawyers get paid to back dudes up regardless of their personal beliefs. Period.
I refuse to speculate on this subject because too little is known to make many reasonable conclusions. Over-zealous neighborhood watchman chased a kid after being told not to by the authorities. Fisticuffs ensued and the kid ended up dead. Irrelevant facts: kid was suspended, kid may have been a drug dealer, Zimmerman outweighed kid by 100 lbs, Zimmerman was part white, Zimmerman is a racist (or not), etc.
Should Zimmerman have been arrested? Absolutely.
Should Zimmerman be indicted? Absolutely. Any Grand Jury should see that there is enough evidence to go to trial.
Should Zimmerman be convicted? I don’t know, and frankly neither does anyone else at this point. The details of the altercation may never be known but unfortunately that is going to have a major impact on the future trial.
The racial component is popular, that is why. It’s despicable that the media makes its living by dividing our nation so.
When I was 10 years old rollerblading at my elementary school on a Saturday afternoon, a ~16 year old black guy hit me with a lead pipe. He fucked me up pretty bad, swung a few times while I was on the ground. Of course he lied to the cops, but fortunately was arrested anyway. Not for one second did I think differently of black people as a whole. This dumbass kid doesn’t represent shit other than being a dumbass kid. Never let racism consume you and never feel hate from it, even if you are a victim. No one wins.
The media fails to preserve our nation’s unity when we need it most. Maybe we can at least agree on that.

Were you wearing a leotard and a headband?
I agree. Even the slightest hint of racism will send the media into a feeding frenzy. Of course it doesn’t help that black people in particular seem to also jump into that same small window of opportunity to band together. Even the most dormant soul will jump out of the couch and suddenly becomes an activist.
I don’t know how racist or insensitive that last statement sounded, but it is accurate. Of course if your people have been fucked over hard, it is difficult to just let shit go as someone previously suggested (“it’s been over 30+ years, get over it”).
I understand the plight of black people, again in particular, or shit, maybe we can use the Indians, but if our society turns to racism every chance it gets, one incident is eventually gonna fill the glass up and shit will get real.

DN, you realize your comics are like 5 days behind story revelations right?
I would say not really but i’m sure someone would accuse me of jumping mindlessly to her defence just because she is a girl ( a girl i will never meet or care about in anyway)
They absolutely are.
They portray a grossly inaccurate account of the events that showcase Zimmerman as being a predatory racist out to get his rocks off by killing a darky.
The KKK outfit doesn’t acknowledge his black friends commenting on his behalf in the media.
The chasing-while-shooting comic doesn’t address the fact that two eyewitnesses reported Martin was on top of Zimmerman right about when the shot was fired.
The Skittles/iced tea comic has no bearing on the issue of whether or not Martin was the aggressor under Florida law. It’s an appeal to emotion in the exact same vein as newspapers harping about “gun vs Skittles”.
The picture of Zimmerman shooting a baby with a lollipop… well, you get the point. These comics are all caricatures of the events that transpired and are being blatantly and unapologetically used as pro-Martin propaganda.
Again, though, arguing this further would imply DN has made a relevant or insightful contribution to this thread at some point that warrants further discussion.
Who gives a shit if he has black friends or not? He can still be racist. I have black friends and I will still be more afraid of a black man walking towards me at night on an empty street than I would a white man. Why? Because it’s been drilled in my head through media that black men are more dangerous than white men. Especially to a white woman. I know that’s not true, but it’s still there, in my subconscious. I can have black friends and still be afraid to go to the south side of Chicago by myself, any time of day. Why? Because I’m the wrong color. It’s, sadly, a way of life and a way of thinking that I don’t think we will ever get away from.

implying anyone really expects rational behavior from women
Nah, but seriously… you’re kinda missing the point.
But thanks for the n=1 analysis of psychologically-embedded racial stereotyping. I’m sure DN will be able to scrounge up an appropriate comic of you in a KKK costume kicking a dead black baby while screaming “self defense!!1”
