So boys, anyone watch this? What’d you think?
How would I have guessed that you would start a thread on this? Hahaha. I missed it but am hitting up a torrent.

Watching it now. Liking it.
I didn’t think it was too bad.
My roomate who is Irish and a huge TV fan(watches office, 24, CSI, ugly betty-anything new on mainstream tv) didn’t like it very much.
HE LOVED THE OFFICE, which black donnelly’s took its place. maybe thats why he didn’t like it.

Eh? The Office airs on Thursday.
i enjoyed it. for a pilot at least, it got alot doneand set up a pretty interesting storyline. plus, it’s good to see an Irish story set in NY as opposed to the shithole known as Boston.
you can watch the pilot on NBC’s site: http://www.nbc.com/Video/rewind/full_episodes/blackdonnellys.shtml

For real! What the hell?
I think he meant Studio 60…
I watched it, I liked it, I will continue to watch!
Yes, I’m pretty sure the one poster meant Studio 60, which I’m fairly upset about as well. That was one of the most well-written shows on TV.
Anyway, just watched the pilot this morning. I had been interested from the very first time I saw a preview, but probably for a different reason than most. One of my best friends comes from a real tight family of…wait for it…three Irish brothers, last name Donnelly; traditional Irish family, dad went to Notre Dame, whole family is from Boston (some still there), the whole nine yards.
It lived up to expectations for me. I’ll have to say, though, I honestly was hoping it was going to to be set in Boston. We have enough New York/Jersey organized crime stories. Eh well, at this point, the setting doesn’t really matter as long as the writing is good.
BTW, for anyone interested, this show is written by Paul Haggis, the guy who is the only person ever to pen back-to-back Best Picture winners (Million Dollar Baby and Crash).
SPOILER
I watched it and loved it. They seemed to do a ton in the story line for the pilot. It just moved along alot…I thought it would drag out the plot for Tommy to become the head guy but instead they did it in the first episode. It will be interesting to see where it goes from here.
I loved it. Too bad it’s on NBC though, because there’s nothing like hearing tough Irish motherfucker’s saying, “That freakin guy”. C’mon now…throw the F bomb in there once in while, damn you network TV!
Either way, I thought it was awesome, and very fast moving for a pilot.
It’s definitely gonna be a highly entertaining show, if nothing else. Finally I have something to hold me over until the new season of Rescue Me starts.
