Not quite as old as cbear. (I’m waiting for her to show up one of these days and catch me talking shit, but it hasn’t happened yet…)

clean grip lunges
20x10 (per leg)
30x10

stronghold is a big fat meanie circuit (4 rounds for time)
kb swings 10x20
med ball chest passes 10x30
burpees 10
4 rounds in 16:50

When I did the last set of lunges, my right knee was creaky and tight, so I stopped and rolled/stretched a little more.

I was not a fan of the weights SH had me use, which were the same as what his client had done earlier and the PT that wanted to try it because it looked so brutal. Next time the KB has to be heavier.

And for your entertainment…

That awful metcon circuit thing that SH thought up has been a hit at the gym. A couple of the trainers saw it and decided that they had to challenge each other, their clients, and other staff members. The fit girls have been averaging around 11-13 minutes and expressed great concern for me when they found out my time. So, more conditioning today.

the unnamed circuit 9-15-21-15-9 reps for time
kb swings 16kg
med ball slams 12lb
Time = 4:57

hanging leg raise 8x4
*I attempted cbear’s version of the leg raises (hold at the top of a chin-up) and looked like a retarded monkey having a seizure other 2 sets were just hanging.

kb twist 10x10x3

That god damn song is going to be stuck in my head forever.

Your training log is a good training log.

Yes! My evil plan worked.

You liked the big booty bitches, didn’t you?

Last workout for “3 week”
band dislocates x10

attempt to learn how to kip x10ish

OHP
45x10

I’m a dum-dum 10, 9, 8…1 timed
pullups mini band
hang cleans 65
time = …16ish minutes (~11 working)

push ups
10x3

SH and I debated what I was going to do for accessory work and what I was going to do for the conditioning type stuff. Somehow we ended up with that abomination of a workout. And it didn’t really accomplish anything that either of us had intended to. Fawk!

The 10 round started off with actual pullups (the kipping part didn’t really happen) but after the first set I realized I didn’t have much left in me. Went on to hang cleans, which were fine and attempted to keep on trucking. I finished the 9 round and told SH there was no way I could finish this thing. We debated for a minute or two, I got out my mini band and about 5 minutes later I started back up.

The chins were awful because they were fucking hard and the hang cleans gave me some trouble, not because of weight, but because my grip started to give out on the last rep or two of every set. Do you know how hard it is to hang clean with your hand half open like a hook? I finished up with a work time of 11 minutes and some seconds. Add in the time spent debating when the clock wasn’t running, it took around 16 minutes.

I’m kind of picky about how I pair exercises for conditioning (different moves every workout, avoid 2 exercises that challenge grip, avoid the muscle group that will be trained the next time…) and this was a terrible choice. It didn’t follow any of my rules and, not surprisingly, it didn’t turn out well. I was not a happy camper.

Hi Buckeye. Nice training over here. All the conditioning inspires. And your burpee pullups make me want to reach for the Tums. About chins, I’m finally doing pullups again, but if I raise my knees at all it hurts. No kip for me. And I’ve realized just how much I like to bring my knees up a bit at the top. UGH! Those things are so hard to progress.

PE teacher!!

I’m envious. I thought about going back to school for that, but there’s no schools near by that have the program for it.

Are you worried about the job outlook?

Those kipping pull ups look hilarious in person. I’m sorry, lol! but they do.

You get a few big guys doing that at once and it just looks funny!

Puff!!

I feel like chins/pullups are one of those things where you have to continue to do them to maintain. They got dropped while I got ready for the meet and now I’m struggling to match what I was doing.

I don’t normally kip, but you’re right about bringing the knees up. I have a tendency to want to kinda curl up at the top.

How’s training going?

It doesn’t seem like all schools have a program for that. We have two in the area but only one has a program for my content area. One is about 10 minutes away and the other is 40 minutes away. Guess which one I have to go to…

I don’t even want to think about job outlook. The thought of having a masters degree and not being able to get a job makes me sick to my stomach. SH and I are both willing to move for better work so hopefully that won’t be a problem.

I’d love to see a bunch of really big guys doing kipping pullups. The closest to that I’ve ever seen was SH demonstrating. Not that funny really.

Like many of the other exercises that crossfit does, I think they’re dumb and don’t really see the point. I’d rather be able to bang out 10 smooth, strict reps than 25 kipping. They’re kind of like rack pulls.

For conditioning, they’ll take longer and I’ll have to keep the reps lower but I think that lower rep strict pullups/chins are more likely to build a badass bitch.

Brought stance in more. Last week i managed to go insanely wide. oops. It was much harder this time around. Plus I think the conditioning and lack of sleep has begun to catch up with me.

I did conditioning stuff after class yesterday. I don’t know if it was the caffeine, allergy meds, or having to sit through lectures on steroids and creatine that were full of misinformation and lies, but something had me fired up and ready to do work. So I did.

Repeat of SH’s awful circuit:
kb swings 18kg x20
med ball chest pass 10x30
burpees x10
4 rounds for time = 13:19

I felt like I got drop kicked in the lungs but that was a 3+ minute “PR”.

Hi.

congrats on the conditioning PR.

where’s your headspace BG? sounds like you need switch up or break or bacon??

Hi MIM and Mainy!

Things have just been yuck all around lately. Half of my classes are 8 weekers so I’m already worrying about midterms and end of the class projects. Work is unpredictable and homelife has been equally stressful with SH’s schedule being about as random as mine. And SH’s parents have been moving into their new house this week.

Also, my sleep schedule has been off and my night classes haven’t been helping that situation. I’m tired during the day and then suddenly energized by the time 10pm rolls around. Diet has been all over the place. Some days spot on, others scary. And my training is suffering. I’m just really stressed and feel like I have no control over anything at the moment.

Sorry for your stress. That sucks. I find that when I’m in that situation if I can just find one thing that I can exert control over (training, diet, etc.) it makes me feel better. The tide will turn. It will.

Having control over 1 thing helps. For me its usually training so it gets really frustrating when I can’t even get my body to do what I want it to. On the bright side, I guess, some of my classes are now more than half over. Is that a light at the end of the tunnel I see?

Stronghold and I ran hills last night after work. Cause that’s what cool people do at 10:30 on a Friday night.
