SH and I debated what I was going to do for accessory work and what I was going to do for the conditioning type stuff. Somehow we ended up with that abomination of a workout. And it didn’t really accomplish anything that either of us had intended to. Fawk!
The 10 round started off with actual pullups (the kipping part didn’t really happen) but after the first set I realized I didn’t have much left in me. Went on to hang cleans, which were fine and attempted to keep on trucking. I finished the 9 round and told SH there was no way I could finish this thing. We debated for a minute or two, I got out my mini band and about 5 minutes later I started back up.
The chins were awful because they were fucking hard and the hang cleans gave me some trouble, not because of weight, but because my grip started to give out on the last rep or two of every set. Do you know how hard it is to hang clean with your hand half open like a hook? I finished up with a work time of 11 minutes and some seconds. Add in the time spent debating when the clock wasn’t running, it took around 16 minutes.
I’m kind of picky about how I pair exercises for conditioning (different moves every workout, avoid 2 exercises that challenge grip, avoid the muscle group that will be trained the next time…) and this was a terrible choice. It didn’t follow any of my rules and, not surprisingly, it didn’t turn out well. I was not a happy camper.
