Its been almost a year since I started actually listening to SH and I took a look back at what I was doing last summer cause its nice to see how far I have come.
Around this time last year…
Squat: I could not double 185 and had missed 200 with knee wraps almost exactly 1 year ago. Now, 185 is “high rep” weight and my best is 265.
Bench: I could do multiple singles with 115, touch and go. Now I can do multiple singles with 135, paused.
DL: I was pulling 185 for sets of 5 and 205 for a double. New PR 275.
Training approach will be changing now that the meet is over, but I’m still looking forward to making more progress.
Good work with all those PRs. Good to see you and BWG in these parts.
Awesome job at the meet; 8 for 9. You must be high as a kite. It takes me a while to come down after a good one. You’re getting a really strong squat and bench and you must be pretty stoked about that last pull too.
It’s fun to look back at numbers and see how far you’ve come. That’s one of the reasons I keep a training log; when I have a crappy day, I can look back and see how wonderful I actually am ![]()

Thanks woman! You’re right. I’m still kind of excited about the whole experience. And I know that 275 is hardly even enough to be considered a competitive pull, but I feel like it was absolutely huge for me. DL has been 1 step forward, 2 steps back for so long that when meet training started, I was just hoping that I’d be able to pull something more than 225. I couldn’t be happier about how the training turned out.

I like to look back through my training sometimes too. Sometimes I get frustrated about where I’m at and its nice to see just how far I’ve come. Sometimes its easy for me to get caught up in what I can’t do and forget that I’ve already accomplished a lot. Other times I read over it and wonder wtf I was thinking…

I went to the gym today. I kind of alternate between still wanting to SFW and feeling completely destroyed. I think that’s further proof that the training/meet went exactly how it was supposed to.
This week is going to be a “fun week” where I get to do what I want but nothing too heavy. Honestly, I don’t think I could go heavy even if I wanted to.

I think you’d make a good training partner! No way I’d leave that epic booty of yours.
1)I’m actually deadlifting in my vibrams, along with a pair of $2 knee high socks from target that I cut the toes out of. (the PL fed requires that our shins be covered on DL and I couldn’t bear to cut up my good knee high socks). DL slippers do exist though. They kind of look like ballet slippers or those hospital socks.

No. Its actually a random picture of a girl with a nice butt that I stole off of the internet. I used it as an avatar so that everyone would think I was hot and like me and send me lots of PMs about how awesome “my” ass is.
I’m actually really jealous of girls that don’t lift weights and still have nice booties like that one. Mine used to be nice too. I can’t post my own up as an avatar because it has been ruined by lifting more than a girl is supposed to on manly exercises like squats and deadlifts. Its all big and hairy and manly now. I attached a picture of it so you can see just how bad it is.
I hope that my post here along with the picture increases public awareness of the dangers of women lifting too heavy. I’ve found some comfort in knowing that there are other women who have made this mistake and are successfully dealing with the consequences of lifting like a man. I also hope to hold a 5k this fall to benefit these ruined dumb-belles.
