Well this has been fun.

I have held that suspicion for some time now. =] See, if God were to enliven your mind and spirit to the fact that it is indeed the work of men moved by His inspiration? Then you would also see that allll these objections and arguments are what someone who has had their mind and spirit so enlivened should expect from those who have not.

Yeah, so you say, but we can both see Sapolsky and I dont see that signature.

Then your whole argument is that Christianity is best and the less there is of it the worse it it and therefore less Christianity automatically equals worse society.
Next time simply draw a circle and we know what you mean by it.
Do you know why money has any worth?
Hold on…
Wait for it…
It’s coming…
Faith.

WEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! LOL!! How could I have ever doubted???: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2009/05/090519-missing-link-found.html And I’m ridiculed for having blind faith. =] Your turn to make funna me now.

Well that is convenient since religion draws people during times of fear and uncertainty. I guess things need to get worse for everyone else before they get “better” for BC.

Please forgive me if I refrain from hyperventilating at his views. I apologize for the ninny remark if you are actually offended. I was trying to have a little fun with you. It does not appear you are so inclined.

Then keep wearing your ignorance as if it were a badge of honour.

So they are without excuse.
21-For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22-Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23-and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things
Yes you do, but you will never EVER own it unless He frees you to do so. All you had to do was ask, not like i was hiding something or had an ulterior motive. Just sayin’.
And no…I don’t believe they were divinely inspired in any way. They may have felt that way or believed that was the case. But I don’t share that view.
As far your expectations of arguments from those that don’t share your beliefs are concerned, the reverse applies equally. You don’t bring anything new or different to the table other than a fervour and singleness of purpose that I think alienates more people to your cause than it attracts.
I could try describe to you how it plays out in the minds of others, but I would be wasting bandwidth. Suffice to say it come across as supremely selfish and egotistical. Please note I said ‘comes across’ not ‘is’. But here in the virtual arena it’s difficult to separate what appears to be from what is.

If nobody gave a shit about gold, for instance, it would not be worth a damn. Currency holds value because we believe everybody regards it the same. We’ve been programmed to believe money is worth something when objectively it’s just a piece of paper, or metal.

That’s what the gospel, the old one, the real one has always done.
Neuromancer wrote:<<< I could try describe to you how it plays out in the minds of others, but I would be wasting bandwidth.
I promise you from the bottom of my heart that I view myself as absolutely no better than anybody else here and far worse than many. My participation in the life of the living and risen Christ is wholly by His own electing grace alone. I have sinned right in His face when I already knew His word and could not even claim the excuse of ignorance. Were it not for His faithful mercy I would have condemnation and judgement awaiting me far worse than most of you guys I’m always preaching to. It is difficult sometimes to portray that in a non verbal written fashion. Nevertheless I take such observations very seriously and am not the least bit bothered by you making it. You might be right. In which case I would need to adjust my attitude.

Does not have to be gold, could be cigarettes too, or canned mackerel.
Yeah, canned mackerel.
A commodity money is usually durable, easily divisible and WANTED.
Not believed to have value, known to have value for other people.
Now you can go all Buddhist on me and say that all wants are an illusion, that would still not stop anyone from forming theories about what sort of delusional wants other people might have in the future.

So fiat money works perfectly under those conditions you’ve described then. I would say the more generally accepted term for smokes and fish as currency would be barter…as skills would be a ‘commodity money’ or barter tool too.

Who’s Bill Nye and why should anybody give a shit what he thinks?
Because he has a valid point. America’s cult of creationism makes Americans look backwards, ignorant and unenlightened to the rest of the world. The result of this ignorance is a loss of credibility.
Is that so? Actually, the further we get away from it the weaker we become. This man http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2012/08/25/astronaut-neil-armstrong-dies-at-82/ read the creation account from the bible on the moon under our flag on live international television in 1969. How credible do you think we were then?
Are you part of the 6000 year old young earth cult?
No, BTW.
Yes, I know catholics stand aside from all that insanity. It does seem to be a particular offshoot of hard core protestant fundie American sects. (As far as christianity goes. I’m also aware that certain jewish sects also hold to the same beliefs, and I would think prob muslim sects as well.)
Creationism is in the spectrum of theories acceptable to believe as a Catholic, but it is rather looked down upon. Though there are older theories than creationism that a Catholic can believe (i.e. St. Augustine’s view of the world…only one side of earth is inhabited, &c.)

This is why Aquinas brilliantly said, whatever is received is received according to the mode of the receiver.
