There’s a lot to fault Ann Coulter for. But I don’t think lack of intelligence is one of them.[/quote]

Right back at ya, champ.

I completely agree. It’s all in how people perceive their message. Ann Coulter will say something off-the-wall with the intent to get a reaction, and sure enough half the people are pissed off and call her disgraceful, the other half kind of sheepishly laugh and say she’s trying to be funny. Bill Maher does the same thing, and those same people “outraged” before now pass it off as “he’s keeping it real by politically incorrect.”

Agree.

I still remember when Ted Nugent made him look like a dumbass. It was priceless.

I wish I saw it. Nugent is awesome.

Talking about Ted Nugent…

A sergeant from my unit was in uniform on mid-tour leave coming back, and Nugent was on his flight. “The Nuge” upgraded his ticket to 1st class and had him sit with him. The sergeant had no idea who Ted Nugent was (being more of a hip-hop fan) but Nugent treated him like a hero with a lot of class.

Another guy in 1st class had told the sergeant who he was sitting with while Nugent was hitting the lav.

Ted is right wing of course, but he’s very respectful and appreciatve to the military.

Ted can be a tough one to debate because he’s very smart and knows his subject matter ( guns and hunting cold). He’s also a smart ass and not worried aboput being perceived as being nice.

He doesn’t care about not being invited to the right Washington , D.C. cocktail parties. He would rather be out in the woods hunting.

Big fucking deal. Every comedian was making jokes about Katrina like crazy mere weeks after it happened.

The people who are really insulted by this are the same people who approved Dale Earnhardt to be called a national hero or who think that politicians from their party don’t lie.

When someone is a celebrity they give away their right to shit like this. They must accept the fact that they can be made fun of when they get cancer or die from a mantaray or on the toilet or whatever. Quit bitching.

This is why both of you guys are on my Friends list; firm on well thought-out points of view, yet a willingness to consider others.

I believe I have chosen wisely.

Something like this should be the disclaimer before a lot of people post: “I know nothing about the subject matter, but I’m gonna throw my two cents in anyways.”

My feelings about Bill Maher is he’s way too in love with himself, he thinks acting smug is the same thing as being intelligent, and he’s not funny. That said, he often has well thought out things to say; when he’s not trying to be clever he can say things in a much more personal way than most pundits do.

As for the costume? He’s confusing purposely offensive with humorous. He’s trying way too hard to be edgy, and rather than ballsy it just comes off as desperate. That said, merely the fact that we’re talking about it means it had all the impact it needed to have.

Thanks, Digi!

I believe one can always at the very least, come away with a better understanding of a subject if you can just keep your mind open long enough to listen.

I’m still getting used to that idea but it’s true.

Wow. Stupidest post today!

Thanks, buddy!

Anyone else weep for the future?

I remember when Bill Maher, in all his douchebag glory, proclaimed on his show while hosting Ted Nugent, that all hunters have small penises.

What an asshat attention whore.

Very much to Uncle Tedly’s credit, he responded intelligently with alot of class.

Wow no one’s taken the bait about “Uncle Ted’s” section 8 story…

Well here goes: When The Nuge got his draft notice for Vietnam in '68 or '69, he had 30 days to report.

He spent those 30 days in the same set of clothes and never bathed. Right before reporting in, he pissed himself. Guess what? They decided he was a whackjob and let him out of service.

Now he’s Mr. Support-the-War Guy. Sounds like the real scumbag to me.

Apparently Ted hasn’t bought or eaten commercial meat since 1977. I think that’s kinda cool. I wish I could say the same.

Occasionally I get to eat freshly killed wild game, venison, turkey, trout etc. and store-bought meat/fish cannot hold a candle to any of it.

Compare hunting and killing and dressing/preparing your own meat. Animals that lived to that point in thier natural habitat to buying meat from animals subjected to hormone injections, overcrowding, shitty feed, dirty air, limited freedom of movement, not allowed to reproduce etc.

It’s MUCH MORE humane.

He’s got tons of respect for the animals he kills. He knows that they provide him with a gift and that they’re part of the big circle of life.

Yeah, he’s kinda crazy but it’s a good crazy.

Yup, did a thorough web search and Ted sure seems to be a draft-dodger.

Kinda puts a knife in my back when I think about it.

Oh, Teddy why?

Well, people are saying it’s ballsy to where a Steve Irwin costume that basically mocks his death. Would he have the “balls” to where that in front of Irwin’s widow or her two children who will grow up without a father?

I always thought he was bright, condescending, and somewhat witty but now I know he’s just an asshole.

I got to thinking. His death was indeed tragic. Ironic as well but most certainly tragic. Deaths are tragic not so much because of the initial victim but tragic because of who was left behind (wife, children). So in that sense his death was the very definition of tragic.

And as far as “bothering” animals… Do you think that was all he did? Was his life devoted to pissing off every helpless creature he could get his hands on?

No, he and his wife devoted thier lives to animal rehabilitation, rehabitation and protection. He’s responsible for saving literally thousands of sick, injured and/or orphaned animals of all species. If that’s what you want to call “bothering” animals…

Australia Zoo and the Irwin family are actively involved in intense conservation work and groundbreaking research into protecting the world?s precious wildlife and its habitat. We are fighting to save all species from persecution and indifference.

irwin died doing what he loved. that’s a pretty good way to go and he deserved it. how could it be any better ?

i don’t think a guy in a halloween costume would even put a dent in irwin’s family.

I agree. The man wasn’t taking light risks here. he was putting his life on the line every single time he wrestled an alligator or picked up a poisonous snake by the tail with his bare hands. We aren’t talking about someone who lived life wearing a safety helmet. I was always waiting for something serious to happen.

It is sad simply because he seemed like an overall nice person, but to pretend like he didn’t basically mock death daily is a little ridiculous. Who really cares that someone wore a costume of that? Offensive would be wearing the costume of a WTC victim. Offensive is not wearing a costume of a man who laughed at death as his job and finally got bit.

Steve Irwin’s wife and kids would care.

Depends on your perspective. I think it has the potential to be highly offensive to Irwins friends and family.
