Biggie or Tupac?

Jay would have never gotten as big as he did without Biggie, or Big and Mac both passing away. Jay-Z bites biggie to this day, over and over… So we can toss that garbage about him being anywhere near the top 5, maybe even top 10 out the window. Great business man, but not anywhere near GOAT, or GOAT’s long lost brother…

Eminem is without question top 10 of all time, probably not top 5 though as he has faded a little late in his career.

Can’t really say the same for Tupac. He’s well above average, but I wouldn’t put up there with Biggie, Nas, Mos Def, Eminem, Black Thought, Andre 3000, Jay-Z and others.[/quote]

LOL

You’re either very young or just plain wrong. (no offense)

lol…

so I guess there’s no way someone born early enough could notice that Pac never had a classic album (many classic songs, no classic albums), his above average but not stellar lyrics, wordplay, etc.

Meanwhile Big debuted with a classic, and followed with another. Better lyrics, better albums (he may have been surrounded by a better team but still), better flow. And most of the guys named there are better rappers than Pac, especially Nas/Jay.

Pac was charismatic on the same level as Big though.

Most mainstream rappers who are popular either sound whack once popular production styles change to something that doesn’t suit them, or they keep doing their thing and lose popularity but still make good records.

Jay puts out great stuff every year, stuff that is in tune with what’s hot, and doesn’t sacrifice much in terms of authenticity, lyrics, artistry, etc.

Jay’s catalog should more than show what he’s capable of. He can rap the way he did on RD, the way he did on BP, Vol 2. doesn’t matter. Besides, where has Pac rapped better from a technical standpoint than Jay on RD?

Nobody has lasted like Jay has. I know someone’s going to come on and whine about how bad ALL mainstream music is and blablah but the rest of the world realizes the craft it takes to make a popular song that isn’t just fluff.

He’s definitely in the discussion for GOAT.

Get out with this shit. Jay is good, even great for sure. He can’t touch GOAT in his wildest dreams.

DEAR MAMA

Well, I’ve always said I wouldn’t marry a woman if she didn’t know Biggie lyrics. So…

You’re joking here right?? I’m sorry but whether YOU think so or not, “All Eyez On Me” WAS a classic album for many reasons, content, production, first ever double disc, features, singles.

Its extremely hard for me to imagine anyone saying that wasn’t a classic rap album, sorry.

Every white girl in the world knows the first nine words to Juicy. I guaran-fucking-tee that.

BIG for sure IMO. He made 2 albums and they compare the two. Can you imagine what he would have came out with if he lived a little longer to release more albums. A rap genius died.

The comparison has EVERYTHING to do with their beef and that sparking the whole eastcoast-westcoast thing.

It has NOTHING to do with their actual body of work, lyrical content etc.

Ice FUCKING Cube

And Tupac of course.

Big Pun or maybe Big L

BIG, Eminem, Ice cube, Mos def, Nas. Not in any order. Jay Z is so terrible it makes me sick.
As a group Bone Thugs and WU Tang.

UNTIL THE END OF TIME

Lol!

Honestly, I’d rather listen to WEEEEEEZY F BABY over Tupac and Biggie any day. I prefer Tupac, but I’m going to go with…

Forty waterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Edit: Damn, just realized this is a strong bump… actually, I am going to go with Z-Ro cuz This Ain’t Livin

As much as I like Tupac, he did nothing but repeat and contradict himself. 80+ percent of his songs he says the same damn thing, over and over.

Biggie is the best story teller in rap history, and it’s not even close. Yes he only had two albums, but he had a ton of collaborations with others on their albums, and he did quite a few underground tracks.

Again, I like Tupac and jam everything he did before Death Row ('cause that shit sucks), but I honestly think he’s overrated as a lyricist and story teller.

maybe because my roots are in NY.

just like his flow. my top Emcee’s rakim, black thought, mos def, guru…
