Okay more questions for you guys:

 1. I’ve really never heard of powdering your balls? Why do you have to do this again? Is it to stop irritation or something?..I’m just asking cause I never have problems down there, or nothing a shower couldn’t help.

 2. Okay you know those Axe “detailers” or loofah - if you shower with those every day won’t IT get dirty after a few weeks of showering with it? Again I’ve never used one of those things so that’s why I’m asking. What happened to just using soap and hands? lol

I’ve always felt very fresh and clean after just using soap and hands, scrubbing the soap on my body. If I’m really dirty that day from work (which is often) then I will soap up, wash down, and soap up one more time.

 1. Soap vs. Bodywash - I used Dove’s Soap for Men and it leaves my skin fresh, not dry, not oily or anything. I’ve never tried a bodywash but can someone tell me some benefits of it compared to a soap like Dove?
Powdering your genitals and ass are more for helping to stay fresh and smell nice, as those areas are prone to funkiness. Loofahs help to remove dead skin cells and also make your skin nice and soft.

If you shave your genitals, scrub them with a loofah after you’re done and before applying astringent with salicylic acid to also aid in freeing any snagged hairs. I just prefer body wash to soap because I feel as though bars of soap leave you feeling a little sticky, or grippy, rather. Weird feeling for me. Plus, I like to really get a good lather going to keep my ass super clean, lol. =P

Powder is to absorb moisture thats about it. It helps to keep you dryer.

More questions:

 1. Okay someone mentioned in this thread about combat athletes: Well yes my boxing gym bag is a mess. I wash my hand wraps, I’ve been using that anti-bacterial wipes for my gloves/headgear and all in my gym bag but it’s all the clothes I have an issue with for boxing and any other type of actvity I’m doing.

CLOTHES:
The other day I boxed…I sweat so much I can squeeze the shirt and I could fill a cup of water. So it takes me an hour to drive to boxing, that shirt is in the gym bag decaying. I wash the shirt and I swear the SMELL did not go away…it was horrific…

I did a little bit of activity outside I figured I’d wear the shirt cause it smelt kinda funky and I was gonna get dirty anyways at my house doing stuff around it…the shirt smelt like a dead body. I ltierally had to SANITIZE the shirt (in the washing machine for 1 hour 50min.) what it does it cooks the clothes lol. After I put it in the dryer and what not it came out smelling like brand new.

My problem here is: All my gym clothes get so bad that this happens to them.
Seriosuly for you guys who are lifting weights in a gym…I can shower before hitting the weights and yes I will come out smelling clean still. I will shower before every boxing class and be smelling like absolute SHIT by the end of class. My shorts seriously smell so bad I don’t know how to help this.

There’s just something about the combat sports man…you train for an hour and half constant non stop sweating and it just does something to my clothes. I don’t get this when I lift weights or anything…but when it comes to boxing it’s a different story.

Help? At the same time I’m not sure what to do with my gym clothes. I train every single day…I can’t really wash ONE t-shirt and ONE pair of shorts everyday, even multiple times a day. I’m stumped on what to do.

Body groomer recommendations anyone?
I was looking into that myself and saw this one recommended in a few places: http://www.amazon.com/Philips-Norelco-BG2020-Bodygroom-Shaver/dp/B000EG8HLE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=beauty&qid=1280446599&sr=8-1
I use a Norelco Body Groomer Pro, works quite well.
I would actually recommend something with a more visible blade, like this:

I have that set, and it’s served me well for 3 years. It comes with multiple-length attachments for each trimmer. The price is actually cheap. Neither are really good for your genitals, though. You’ll get some nicks. For the area above your dick, they’re great, though.
Yah, the Norelco pro has a trimmer on the bottom and one of those razor’s with the screen on the top, it’s pretty sexy.
Oh, very cool. If it works well, then awesome. My first Andis trimmmer actually burned out on me. It was cordless, which I think was part of the problem. Just a warning. I feel like any heavy-duty barber trimmer is a good option, at least for me.

Hmmm… I sweat a fuck-ton, but I work out at home, so I get to throw my clothes in the hamper right away. It might be time to try some moisture-wicking clothing like that pair of boxer-briefs I linked in my first post. Avoid cotton at all costs, or buy really cheap t-shirts and throw them out after like 2 weeks of use. It’s like renting a shirt for $3 for 2 weeks.

Alright I got questions and need answers! lol

 1. I do use a body groomer, but I notice I get ingrown hair on my thighs which cause redness/pimple like dots and it’s kinda annoying. I will actually get it even if I don’t groom my thighs…mmm

Can I go with FlameofOrisis recommendations for my thighs with the “I use Billy Jealousy Hydroplane, the best shaving product I’ve ever used for avoiding ingrown hairs.”

Or is that mostly for the face.

So that’s for my thighs.

When I shave my face I get some irritation/pimples on my neck. The bought neutrogena face scrub exfoiliant, razor defense shave gel, post shave lotion razor defense…I think it helped a bit.

But the biggest thing that helped I really think is…shave my face after a warm/hot shower. Open’s up the pores and well it’s actually a lot easier to shave I have thick strong facial hair and it grows very fast. And using cold water afterwards to close the pores.

As well…if I shave my face…if I shave 2 days after where the hair is growing but not a full beard yet…I will get tons of irritation…but if I shave on the 5th day where I have a beard I will get little irritation. Some guys think it’s awesome to have facial hair…but I had a damn moustache in gr.8, by the time I was 16 I was already growing a beard. It’s not that cool lol
I honestly can’t answer for your thighs, because it might just be some sort of irritation and not actually ingrown hairs. If you’re not shaving, they’re definitely not ingrown hairs, though. Try rubbing some baby powder on your thighs every day. Before I started cutting, my thighs would rub together and I would even get a pretty bad rash sometimes.

I wouldn’t shave that area if you’re only trimming it now, as that might make the problem worse. The Hydroplane can be used for any area you shave. It has micro-beads in it which is why you can get such a close shave. For your facial-hair issue, I would definitely give it a try. It costs $20, but even if you shave every day, I don’t see why it wouldn’t last you over a month, at least.

Try using the new Fusion Proglide blades, too, if you’re using the regular Fusion blades, as they’re much smoother on the skin. Go with the grain first, and then against the grain while pulling your skin in the opposite direction, and if the problem persists, start using an after-shave with salicylic acid in it to free the hairs.

And yes, definitely do this after you shower. I don’t think it has to do with pores opening up, but rather with the hairs becoming much softer for the shave.
Hey man I think you solved my problem here: I work and I do electrical - I’m constantly moving/sweating/it can be a physically demanding job (depending what your doing) but I’m 85% of the time doing hard shit lol So the pants rubbing against my thighs is the culprit here.

The body groomer I use, it cuts pretty close to the skin. It leaves 2mm of hair left, so it’s pretty close and I’m not going to shave right down…I don’t really even like the look of going to 2mm, I like the look after a week and a half where it has grown back just a little bit. I will definately try rubbing baby powder on them though everyday this week for work and see what happens after I trim. Thank you for this advice.

Facial hair. There’s no way I could shave everyday I really think my facial hair is just too thick for that. I also only shave going with the grain…never against it…even after shaving with the grain…mm I don’t mind the facial hair thing much…like I said what I’ve been doing has helped my neck a lot and if I shave on the 5th day no irritation. Again thanks for the advice!

Hey…could this be my problem of having excessive smell in my shorts after boxing? I’m guessing I should try the powder out and see if it helps. I do tidy up down there…I think I will go buy a loofah haha…I’m guessing that axe detailer would be a good thing to get?

Any good bodywash’s you recommend? I really need to stay as clean as possible all the time cause I’m in sweat 24/7…between work, multiple training sessions…it’s retarded.

How often would you throw the loofah out to get a new one? I’m sure that shit gets dirty after a while especailly if your cleaning your ass with it.

This is the groomer I use. It’s pretty good, goes down and will leave bout 2mm of hair only. Can be used on genitals sensitive areas with no problem and no risk of getting nicks and whatnot.

I’m glad I could help. Yeah, thighs rubbing together could get really uncomfortable. I don’t really like the Axe Detailer at all, tbh. I bought one because I though it looked cool, but that rubber handle only serves to get in the way. A generic “spherical” loofah should be just fine, really.

If you shower more than once a day, which I don’t personally recommend, try something cheaper than the Jack Black All-Over Bodywash/Shampoo. It’s like $15/6 oz, which lasts for about 20 washes of both your hair and body. Anthony Logistics makes a nice shampoo/bodywash: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P9033&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=4374 I’ve never used it, but anything by that brand works really well.

For something more generic, try the Dove body washes, because they’re cheap and leave your skin feeling extremely soft. You know what, man? Since you like bar soaps, use this: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P9037&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=4374 and this: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P36852&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=4374 No more need for a loofah.

I just prefer loofahs. About loofahs getting dirty, you’re right. They start to grow bacteria after a bit. You could throw them in the microwave with a little lemon juice to disinfect them, or just throw it out every month and get a new one. If you have any more questions, let me know. It might be a few hours before I could answer, though.

I don’t think loofahs being dirty is a problem. You’re basically lubing them up with soap once or twice a day, therefore it should be self cleaning.

Don’t shave against the grain.

My neck looks like I scrubbed with poison ivy every time I shave against the grain. Don’t do it.

I like the nuking idea of clothes. That works? A lot of my clothes smell funky. Do you think I could do that to wicking underwear, shirts, etc?

My morning routine:

 1. If my face is a little puffy, I’ll put on an ice pack while doing stomach crunches (I can do a thousand now).
 2. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion.
 3. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub.
 4. Then I apply an herb-mint facial mask which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine.
 5. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older.
 6. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion.

Might sound a little gay, but then I also dress up in a form-fitting leather suit and fight clowns and shit.

has DMSO been brought up in this thread? That shit fixed my back but using it for 2 weeks straight my dog started sleeping outside.

Rubbing deodorant on your skin just after shaving will help with ingrown hairs. I have no idea why it works but I shave my entire body and if I rub it with deodorant, I don’t get any ingrown hairs. When I don’t use the deodorant… well it’s not pretty.

Just use the cheap white stick variety and rub it firmly over the skin.

Alright alright some solid advice from everyone here, thanks a lot guys.

FlameofOsiris - well I’m only intrigued about the loofah now because you said it helps to put away dead skin cells…as well I’m sure with a loofah you could really get a good scrub…you can use soap on a loofah just rub the soap bar on it and I’m sure it’d work fine.
I always just take the soap bar and scrub it on my body, but I think a loofah could do the trick a bit better of scrubbing the dirt away.
I will try those soaps out you recommended as well.
I also wanted to say I never used to shower more than once a day…but after working and getting really dirty at work…I kind of have to shower before boxing or I will smell like a decaying skunk lol. So I just have a quick rub down and I’m out in 5min. I don’t wash my hair. And then after boxing I’ll do a 10min. shower and I’m done.

Vicomte - yeah I think that’s another thing that attributed to it…I do my whole face with the grain and my neck sort of against it…which was causing that irritation. Regardless though the shave is always smooth and I won’t get ingrown hairs if I let my face grow some of that facial hair…and by the 5th day I’m rockin a beard and then it’s time to kill it. I think I might try tomorrow though to shave (will be the 2nd day) and see what happens if I really focus on not going against the grain.

Coolnatedawg - I don’t know who that post was regarding to, but man my shirt seriosuly…I’ve never smelt a shirt that bad in MY LIFE leaving it in the boxing gym bag lol. I told my dad to smell it…cause he doesn’t really care much for bad smells and he even said that it was nasty lol.

But in my washing machine they have sanitizer…washes it for 1 hour 50 min and my dad said it cooks the clothes lol. After putting it in the dryer and what not…I never had my clothes so fresh. I put a bunch of shorts, t-shirts, boxers, tons of socks that were dirty as hell from the construction boots. All came out like brand new. I don’t know if it’d be good to do that evryday cause that’s probably gonna rank up the bills washing it like that…but man I think I will do it once a week to the clothes I train in…put it on a quick wash for 25min. and then on weekends just really get them clean.

MarvelGirl - I’m not sure if your a guy or girl lol but I don’t know if I’d want to put the deodeorant on my neck…it seems a bit odd and I think facial hair is a bit different and thicker than hair on legs, arms etc. but ey anything is worth trying. After I use my body groomer I will try it on my legs though and see what happens. Not sure if it’ll have the same effect though case it leaves 2mm of hair left over…I mean it’s a very tiny bit of hair…barely noticeable…actually if I go over it a couple times it seems to go completely down to the skin…i’ll try some deoderant on that…thanks for the advice

I love this thread. I thought it was gay as shit at first, but I find it more and more informative every time I look at it. For once I’m being serious here.

rasturai, did you live in a fatherless home growing up man?

I mean some of these questions should have been staples for conversation between you and your dad.
