Big Daddi Training Log

Where will you be getting plates? I got a free empty barbell a neighbor had put out for trash, and wanted to buy plates but man, $$.
I want bumpers I can drop on concrete, something I’ve never had access to before.

Theres a place in town called bodybuilding depot that has half decent prices on them. A set of 25lbers is $85 and a set of 45lbers is $140. I dont remember the prices for the other sizes and this is Canadian too. But thats just good ole iron plates…im not planning on getting bumpers so i dont know what they cost

Well…yesterday was a lllooonnnggg day but worth it. We did something real good for our family…we got a dog! Adopted a senior (7 yrs old) newfie/lab cross. He is in really good health, strong and has some pep too. His name is Beau.

We went for a walk this morning at a little after 430…so i guess thats the start of my activity for the day now.

So this weekend was fun…first off we definitely started to get Beau figured out and vice versa. We did walk him a number of times, but he definitely has his times of the day where he will be up to going a little longer. And oddly enough too we discovered that he likes riding in the van. He is already amazing with our son and cat, and he is really well behaved.

On the training side of things…i kept getting interrupted by my son mostly. Not that it was a bad thing, just kinda funny, so i only got in a couple of half sessions basically.

I did do some legs and shoulders and counted the walking as cardio.

Gonna hit chest and triceps tonight hopefully.

Awesome dude.
I still remember the first dog we adopted… he passed in 2013/14 and I cried like a baby. For days.

Yeah i can understand that. We had a cat that my wife was really attached to and when she passed away my wife was crushed.

So this week has been a little rough with sleep/work/life. Havent really trained at all this week cause i have been exhausted and beat. Fortunately im still eating good…sometimes with me my eating goes down hill when im this tired.

The only activity i really have had this week is walking Beau…on tuesday night i was walking him and pushing my son in the stroller and last night Beau actually wanted to move so i wound up jogging a bit…didnt feel great on the knees but it got the ole heart rate up. I also had a few really heavy and awkward lifts yesterday at the jobsite, so i would like to think that that counts for something lol.

I really want to crush some training tonight, tomorrow and through the weekend and i know that i can. How the this weeks training split will go we will see.

Yesterday was shitty…so my boss’s wife has covid. Meaning we have to sort some things out. He got tested last night and i am getting tested this morning. The third guy on our crew will also get tested today. If we come back negative me and the other guy can go back to work…but my boss would have to isolate. I dont know how this is gonna work…but i have a day off today. But it defiantly threw a wrench into things.

So between friday/saturday/sunday here im going to cram in push pull legs to get everything worked. Here is this morning :

A.m.

Dips x 5/7/8/5/5
Pushups x 4 x 15
Ohp x bar x 2 x 5 x 95lbs x 5/10/10/6

Giant set :
Chest fly x 10
Tricep push down x 10
Overhead plate raise x 10
X 3 rounds

Overall this felt good. I didnt feel super strong on dips but once i got past that it all felt great and things moved well. The giant set was done with basically no rest.

Even though it was only 95lbs, i was happy with getting those sets of 10. Its been a fair while since i had a barbell overhead and once i have some more plates…im gonna be chasing a previous goal i had to abandon before. But i will keep that to myself for a while.

Now to get food and get ready for covid test.

Unexpected conditioning :
Had taken Beau out for a stroll and lately we have been moving at a good pace so i would count it as mild cardio. The same was happening this afternoon until we had hail all the sudden…so we hid under a tree for a few min, got ourselves straightened out and made a run for the house. We were a ways a way from the house and it was pretty much a full on sprint. Heart rate was way up to say the least. Fortunately the hail wasnt too bad until we got in the house and then it really came down.

Will write out todays training later.

So today has been fairly active. Walked a couple times with Beau, the first one being with my wife and son as well. Played in the yard this afternoon and worked on our garden spot too. I moved a fair amount of dirt in a short time…so…conditioning? Lol.

Today also was a good one for eating.

Hey man, nice work in here pushing through a pretty random schedule and whatever life throws at you. Hope you’re able to get the headache to chill out so you can do what you gotta do!
