Better than I have in years, actually. My month long break from alcohol is now entering month 8, pounds are dropping steadily, lifts are going back up, a new rich MILF next door has inspired me to do more intense outdoor kettlebell workouts, and all systems are go except my
right knee, which continues to improve. The boy is getting into his own gym routine now and getting out of the routine of partying like its the pandemic.
Plans for a future in Maine seem more foolhardy by the day. This place is on a seriously concerning trajectory. Even the bluefin tuna fishery is getting fucked with politically (as it has been for decades, to varying degrees), making my kid’s path towards a career in that industry less certain.
That’s the story that keeps getting told with egregious example after egregious example being demonstrated as ideological beliefs far more fantastic than Christianity take hold of the government.
It makes so much more sense when you understand that stuff like this entrenches Democrats in Maine. Their continued success at importing votes also benefits from every person who decides to cash out and move to a place that isn’t governed by a bizarre cult.
The Constitution is the only thing I’m observing right now that separates Maine from a 3rd World Banana Republic. They don’t even really try to hide it anymore.
I’ve never suffered from low sex drive, but cutting out alcohol has really made me not suffer from low sex drive. System checks aren’t too tough to come by for a single guy in his mid 40’s.
My new neighbors are Bates parents renting the place so their boy has somewhere to do laundry just off-campus and they can stay in town for sporting events. He’s a freshman who gets to drive a brand new 80k European luxury plug-in hybrid crossover and seems to be a really fantastic kid. If she wasn’t married to a rather frail retired physician several decades her senior, I would definitely be on the hunt for ridiculous pretenses to interact with her more.
The fact that they replaced a severely dysfunctional white trash couple is a blessing that you can’t really put a dollar value on. Those jackasses moving two towns over is another small win for the City of Lewiston.
She’s a very lovely gal, actually. It’s really quite a shame I’ve developed a sense of shame that now precludes me from messing with someone’s marriage.
Not immediately, but yes. It will happen at some point. I have the perfect retiree sedan to do this in, but adult responsibilities have a pesky way of getting in the way of things like self-indulgent extended road trips.
Oh I agree. I just wish State of Maine did as well. Letting this particular nut loose for a pittance bail is not an isolated incident. A feature, not a bug, of a very intentional policy choice that will continue to produce more bad outcomes, including more dead people.
Yep. The criminal justice system isn’t equipped to handle that guy, and shouldn’t have to.
It’s a mental health issue. I’d argue for more involuntary commitments to mental hospitals (and greatly increasing that system), but it is just so rife with ethical issues and a high likelihood for abuse. Tough situation, but that guy needs medical help and doesn’t seem like anyone is willing to give it to him.
Handling guys like that is what the criminal justice system was created for. You handle a guy like that by - get this - sequestering him from everyone else so he doesn’t have an opportunity to cause the harm he told people he was going to cause.
All of the liberal BS falls apart at the local level, and it barely hangs on as a national political narrative. This guy had no shortage of people willing to help him in every way possible. He didn’t want to accept the help and the State of Maine believes his “rights”, as they currently understand them, are more important than simple concerns of public safety.
State of Maine, through policy enactments by Democrats, has “reformed” the criminal justice system in a way that defeats the purpose it is supposed to serve. The wild reports I post here weekly demonstrate this quite clearly.
Laws were not concocted to rehabilitate the criminal, but to protect everyone else from criminal behavior. Clinical treatment outcomes for the criminal are now how outcomes get measured by Democrats with no regard to whether or not helping reform the criminal causes a great deal more harm to others.
Lewiston City Council declared the other week that Lewiston isn’t going to arrest our way out of our new problem with gun violence. They didn’t mean that it isn’t possible, because it is possible to apprehend and imprison violent people, they meant it as a statement of intent.
I cannot stress this enough. The third world conditions in Lewiston, Maine, which were nearly nonexistent just one decade ago, are a completely acceptable byproduct of Democrat political dominance. Lewiston and Maine more broadly represent a massive political success for Democrats.
Somebody more diligent than me should assemble a series of clips, like a retrospective or something, of Eric Adams. Like his welcome to the big boys club, all of the nice nice stuf- then his pivot of saying that the illegal migrant crisis was unsustainable, to his descent into the criminal underbelly of political corruption, greed and licentousness.
That would be really neat. I wonder if any intellectual types could pinpoint the exact moment when he turned bad. Like, maybe there was a specific point or indicator that we could put our finger on that unleashed the hounds of hell on his whole admin.
…
Man. I guess some things in this world will remain a mystery.
Seemed like such a nice guy too.
But now he’s like indicted. Like Trump was. In the same city, even.
I would have never guessed that from his appearance with ThroatGoat Colbert just two years ago.
If Maine Democrats are gangsters in rainbow clothes and sparkle makeup, and they definitely are, NYC Democrats are likely ruthless. I know what they will do to their own party members who are in the way of “progress” right here in Lewiston. It is not a zero stakes game at all, people will do everything they can to ruin you if you stand in the way.
I have a positive opinion of our local DA but this statement about the above mentioned crime just doesn’t add up at all. You can scroll up and read exactly what the police said happened, and he’s saying they had no idea. I don’t buy that for a minute.
