Biden 2021 - A Mediocre Middle Ground

And the child’s right to life?

A child has a right to life, once they can live a life independent of the mother. Until then, they are not a separate, singular life from the mother. The fetus has a right to life once they can live that life. Which is why I think viability (20-24 weeks) should be the cutoff.

… IMO of course.

Your statement is contradictory when applied across society. Children can’t live a life independently of their mother, not for many years. A few can here and there through the generosity of individuals who choose to assume that extra responsibility, but there’s only so many of those people.

At the end of the day, as a walk around my town will easily indicate, you can pass whatever law you like, fund whatever program you like and if the parents don’t want to parent, parenting doesn’t happen. Similar to healthcare in my state’s Maincare program, you could pass a law declaring that everyone has a right to parenting and it will not fundamentally change the actual situation. If there’s not enough people providing healthcare, healthcare doesn’t really happen. A staffing shortage is still a staffing shortage.

This entire line of reasoning is what opens up the door to abortions up until the minute of birth and sometimes even after birth. That happens now by the millions.

I can all but guarantee that the revolution will continue to require new causes, as the Democrats always have and will, and one of those causes shall surely be advancing the argument you just made. A new term will be created for murder in order to legalize it when children are a threat to the “health” of the mother.

The right to bodily autonomy should rank higher than another’s right to life. When I say “should”, I mean that I’ve yet to encounter anyone who disagrees with it that is consistent in their thinking. Thus far it has always turned into cases of special pleading.

Yes and I do.

We’re not going to convince each other. I’m not firmly anti-abortion, but I lean pretty far that way. I was just trying to say that let’s not kid ourselves that all women have abortions purely for health reasons. Plenty do because it’s just more convenient than having another child. (And regarding health, some women I know would say they would willingly die if it meant their child could be born.)

Sure they can. Many mothers die during childbirth, and many babies are born premature and spend weeks to months in the NICU totally separated from their mother.

Whoops nevermind. I didn’t realize you were just using this another opportunity to wax poetic about the ills of Democrats and brown people in your small Maine town. Never miss that opportunity.

Like I said, society can catch some of those kids, but not all. I keep bringing up my town because it presents a very clear example of how nearly every Democrat policy priority plays out. I lived here when it was a normal town. I remember.

I also remember “safe, legal and rare” being said by Democrats when I was a Democrat, just as I remember that Barak Obama declared marriage to be between a man and a woman. Of course he didn’t mean it, that’s easy to see in hindsight.

If I had suggested 10 years ago that Maine Democrats would insist that boys be able to play on the girl’s sports teams and use their restrooms and locker rooms, I would have been called a crazy conspiracy theorist by nearly everyone who would insist that only fringe wacko’s would ever hold such a belief, let alone make it public policy.

Today it is policy in LPS.

Today’s fringe social theory or “reimagining” of what a human being is becomes tomorrow’s radical policy. It depends on people just like you to agree to it.

What’s the moral distinction between killing an 8 month old human being in the womb and killing a 2 year old?

I don’t think I did? Many do for health reasons, especially common later into the pregnancy. But I’d bet the majority, are more along the lines you mention, and the vast majority are performed in the first trimester, months before fetal viability.

The whole discussion really hinges on when we think that lump of cells becomes a singular life.

If having another human being inside you violates a woman’s “right to bodily autonomy”, then that right was waived the second the woman allowed a man to penetrate her.

Don’t have sex if you don’t want kids.

This comes down to the concept of consent. Hopefully you’d agree that if woman doesn’t consent to someone being inside of her, that she has the right to deny it, right?

You really think I care about your opinions, guy? I saw first-hand the outcomes of liberal policies so spare me your sanctimonious bullshit.

Gotta love the “lump of cells” cop out. Leaves plenty of wiggle room for mental gymnastics and goal post moving. Personally, I’m in favor of fewer noncontributing leftoids. Abort away.

Says the guy who only uses dehumanizing, vicious language to describe those he disagrees with politically.

Don’t go thinking too hard and pull a muscle!

The more you actually have to deal with the realities of radical public policy the less room you have to assume good faith on the part of the lying opportunists who advance the policies.

Nearly every LEO I know speaks in similarly frank terms about the realities of Democrat policy. It isn’t a theoretical twitter discussion about how this or that might play out. We don’t have to guess anymore. We can observe.

That’s not sanctimony, dude. I despise them out of principle.

Zzzz…

Exactly. Those cunts ruin everything they touch.

What are the principles you despise me for? Do you even know, or are you just so blinded by the partisan propaganda you reactively lash out like a rightwing pavlovian experiment? Our viewpoints on many things aren’t too dissimilar, and we both fundamentally want the same thing for each other and the country. See through the partisan facade. Tone down the violent dehumanizing rhetoric.

Now I’ve seen everything…

To avoid answering questions from The Press, KamalalalaDingDong walked to her plane with earbuds in, pretending to talk on her phone; why do I say she’s pretending? because she has earbuds on AND puts the phone up to her ears as well! She is so, so stupid it’s unbelievable. Totally a real life enactment of Being There (movie).
