He’s a hell of a lot more aligned with my values and priorities than the current one, thats for damn sure.

Failure with the company he started. Not sticking around or being promoted at any of his civilian jobs. That doesn’t show success.
He was successful as an author and student.
And that is totally fair. But does that alone mean he is qualified to be V/POTUS? What else gives you confidence in his ability to lead this country from the executive office?
Qualified and Elected are two entirely different things.
A business failing does not necessarily reflect upon his performance working there. What did he do that contributed to it failing?
That says nothing about his performance.

Ok, let’s start - the venture capital firm of which Vance is co-founder is named Narya. There’s not much blame to spread around as there are literally four employees in total. Apparently the name is a LOTR reference and Thiel’s companies are named after LOTR characters so we know who’s he indebted to.
If we’re looking at investors - a few surprisingly prominent billionaires, notably Thiel gave some chump change - in VC terms - to Vance’s Narya (93 million raised in the initial seed round) which he managed to increase just before the second seed round to a valuation of a whopping 50 million (apparently 50 is much less than 93).
Since there are two co-founders in Narya either Vance is criminally incompetent or the other guy is to blame. And losing 43 million is impressive, I gotta say.
Yet, despite this failure, Thiel and his buddies kept throwing good money after bad when it came to Narya. I mean, it takes skill to be so inept at being a VC when you’ve got the artificially created PR, backing and clout of one of the most successful VCs in SV.
There’s some pretty damning Wikipedia stuff about his other business endeavors.
If Trump wins, and the RNC anoints Vance as the official 2028 nominee without any primaries being held, while strongarming any potential challengers into oblivion, I will come back and admit I was 100% wrong, and a rube.
Sounds like a small thing, but I doubt any of the I’m-never-wrong crowd jabbering away in here would do the same.
And Vance’s #1!!! qualification in my book? He’s not a lying sack of shit, who looks to shake the hand of his “wife” after giving the cheating sack of shit across from him a loving bear hug. I’m a very simple man -that’s good enough for me.

Its also not apples to apples when you compare a political career to that of the private sector.
A politicians job is to get the job. A private citizen has to actually work to keep their job.

Remember back when George W. would come back to Texas for vacation? Or whenever he would take any time off, the democrats lambasted him for it and got more and more worked up with each passing day he was on vacation?? Same with Trump, whenever he played golf the press crucified him for not working on behalf of the American people. But Obama was fine to fly back and forth to Hawaii (a MUCH more expensive overall endeavor, mind you, especially considering the distance, equipment, fuel, staff, etc needed to go from DC to Hawaii) multiple times during his time.
I guess when it’s YOUR candidate in the White House, and “he’s an older, seemingly gentle old man with not the best memory” then he gets a pass to do as he pleases. The scary thing is, this is a very harrowing reveal of the fact that Joe’s NEVER been holding the reins of this country, it has and continues to be someone on the inside of his staff. Most likely a handful of individuals who have been steering the country the past 3 1/2 years while Joe just focused as best he could on walking up and down air force one’s steps or making appearances at ice cream parlors.
