Biden 2021 - A Mediocre Middle Ground

I have no interest in being divisive, or get into an internet argument. I just wanted to bring up that a lot of the time that politicians or media talking heads complain about taxes being spent on something not everyone agrees upon, that they often just list a big number, but leave out a way for people to understand that number. Both sides do this I think.

These big numbers that get thrown around make it really seem like we are spending a big chuck of that money Uncle Sam takes from us on these projects we don’t care about or disagree with. It is known that us humans just have a tough time understanding really big numbers. However, if we were to break it down by cost per US citizen, or percent of the national budget, they are less upsetting. I will often get upset about a large amount of money we are spending on something I disagree with, but I usually am not as upset if I try to put it into context.

Even if we say we are spending $50 billion per year for benefits for illegal immigrants, that’s about $150 per citizen. Of course, it is fair to disagree with any money being spent on this cause, but it might be less upsetting? On a pie chart, that is hardly even a sliver that would be visible, when the national budget is something like $7 trillion. National defense and entitlements (SS, medicare, medicaid, government pensions…) is a majority of the budget.

The most concerning thing to me is that currently, we are paying about 6% of the budget on interest. We get 0 for that money and it is hundreds of billions. I’d like our country to be on the other end of the interest payments. Think about getting 6% of the budget from interest, instead of paying 6%. Nobody wants to address this it seems like (or nobody who is popular in politics at least). It just keeps getting worse too. It isn’t going to be too long until 10% of our tax dollars are being spent on interest payments. I’d like to see our government figure out a way to get passive income. It would take some sacrifice to do, but I feel it would be worth it.

Do you have a personality? It must be hard to code switch when you’re posting on the internet because I doubt you talk like you post in the real world; you wouldn’t have any friends. Hmmmmmm……

If you had $150 in your pocket, would you even consider giving it to an illegal? If someone from the government came to your house and said you were required to give 150 dollars, or even 20 dollars, to the government so they could give it to an illegal, would you be happy writing that check? I wouldn’t even donate a can of soup to them.

That is so far from the reality I see as I’ve experienced the transformation into a full-blown sanctuary city. The cost of a bunch of people unable and in some cases unwilling to assimilate showing up in your town is so much higher than $150. It would be impossible to fully calculate the local tax burden of Democrat immigration and social welfare policies. A conservative estimate of the immigration-related school budget costs would easily be in the hundreds of dollars per year, per citizen of my town.

Even with all of the Federal and private grant funding that makes social engineering like this possible, a massive amount of cost for these immigration policies is shifted directly onto the community. Nobody in my local government has even provided a clear answer of how many languages we’re trying to teach in now.

It is hard to overstate how dramatic of a transformation it has been in what used to be a pretty typical, unremarkable small college town. Democrats insisting that college kids (and literally anyone, for that matter) can vote in local elections actually had a big part in a lot of major votes.

The cost of increasing taxes, severely deteriorating public schools, increased violence, housing shortages, and shortages of nearly every useful profession a normal town might have is impossible to calculate.

Of course, the trick is to pretend that the things I mentioned aren’t costs at all, and that the situation would have happened anyway or possibly been worse had we not created a literal human trafficking pipeline that pumps needy people of all kinds directly into Maine.

Meanwhile, Democrats keep telling us how much “free” money they are bringing into Maine. And boy, do the non-profiteers know how to get those dollars so the needy people can be provided for.

$150 is a completely absurd cost to even attempt to attach to policies like the Democrats’ on immigration.

This right here. It seems like no big deal but it’s one of the worst things a town can do. You have children who live in a segregated community getting involved in decisions that affect everyone outside of that community. You might as well give tourists the right to vote.

There’s literally nothing stopping a tourist from voting in local Maine elections. They just need to sign something that says they live in whatever jurisdiction they’re trying to vote in and they can cast their vote a few minutes later, which will be counted a few hours later.

Sounds like paradise.

Have they done a porn parody of Trump and Kamala yet? Not that I’ll watch it.

Another hot take divorced from reality! The students money is a main economic driver of the town, not to mention they are affected by all taxes the same as any other resident renting or owning, are disproportionately affected by crime rates, and use govt services like public transport. They live there between 9-12 months out of the year, and are young adults, not children.

Id wager that the college, and it’s students, were a known entity when anyone living moved nearby. Pretty entitled to want to change the town now because you’re old, cynical and don’t like the way these damn youngins are voting.

What are you babbling about? None of that is true. It’s a democrat ploy like allowing illegals the right to vote. Students don’t pay shit. They are welfare queens with an even greater sense of entitlement. Go read a book you dummy.

With the right lighting, Kamala doesn’t look too bad. And let’s not ignore that caboose.

Students don’t buy groceries, pay rent, pay utilities, buy gas, buy beer, go to bars, hold down part time jobs, have family weekends, etc?

Wild. Who knew they do none of that.

Zecarlo. That’s who.

I know who I’m voting for.

And how much of that goes back to the town? Utilities? Rent? Most live on campus and the so called off campus housing is owned by the college. Groceries? They have a dining hall and a grocery store on campus. Groceries. You think they cook? Gas? To go where? Out of town to spend money. Beer? You out of touch moron, kids don’t drink beer. Bars? They don’t leave their rooms. Part time jobs? Yeah, on campus. They don’t pay property or automobile taxes. You have no clue and probably never went to college. Why am I even talking to your know nothing ass? Go upstairs and ask your parents about the costs associated with being an adult.

She looks like the baby Sheena Easton and Prince would have had.

You took the words right outta my mouth, bravo!

And while I can appreciate @mnben87 trying to put it in a different context, the bottom line is (as @zecarlo so pointedly demonstrated) that these people illegally entered our country, knowing full well that by swimming across the river they were breaking the law, then upon arrival they give us orders of what city they’d like to invade/be shipped to, they complain and throw out the free food given to them because it’s not what they are used to eating, and they want healthcare, benefit cards, driver licenses (do you think if one of these pieces of shit hits your car, that they will have auto insurance? Good luck with that, they don’t give a shit, they have no skin in the game), school to send all their litters of kids, etc. All for free and all without paying a single dime into our system. So yes, it’s much more than just the financial strain/toll on our system and I would say that it IS about the audacity of these parasites coming over here, the kind of mentality they have, like it’s owed to them. Hmmm, owed to them…where have i also heard that before? I digress…

As well as the loss of sports fields, hotel, other facilities that could be used by American citizens, they are taken over by hordes of illegals. How is that fair to American citizens? How the hell can democrats look their constituents in the eye and say “these people need these things more than you guys, sorry, your kids will have to take a 2 hour bus ride to another sports field that is not yet a tent city”. The hotels that you can no longer stay in when visiting these cities because the government makes it more lucrative for the owners to house illegals…I can guarantee that would never fly in a republican city as there would be a mutiny. It’s a complete “fuck you” in the face of all taxpaying citizens and its incomprehensible that the government seems to value the well being and comfort of illegal invaders over it’s own citizens.

Lol wut? When and where did you go to school? Your view is just so cynical, outdated, angry and wrong. You make it out that all college kids are incels in dorm rooms. Maybe you’re projecting from experience?
