OO’s in the trucking world - if done correctly make far more than employee drivers.
Of course, you have to know how to actually run a business and not be stupid to do it right.
We make a far larger profit margin off asset based trucking than OO’s.
Yep. A couple friends of mine do this, and they do pretty darn well for themselves. Better than most, actually.

Most, though “illegal,” are “asylum seekers”. Sweden has a different setup for them, including integration plans. Many of them are families.
You cannot compare what illegal immigrants receive in the USA vs anywhere else.
Ignoring the fact that many of those jobs can earn well over six figures a year, on the other end are jobs that no one will do, regardless of the pay. Illegal immigrants are not taking strawberry picking in Central California, dishwasher jobs, or laborer positions in construction from Americans.
And they do both. Many are not planning to stay, why would they not get the benefits and send most of the money they earn back home?
You mixed up millions and percentages, sport. Foreign born immigrants make over a quarter of the Swedish population.
Which have spectacularly fallen apart due to a massive influx of welfare seekers and the country’s inability to cope with them.
That’s exactly what I’ve been saying. Illegals are coming to the US because there’s a need for their cheap labor which is hardwired into existing business models of many industries as well as consumer preferences for cheaper products/services.
If there didn’t expect to find jobs, they wouldn’t come. The 2007/8 drop in illegals stems from the 07-08 financial crisis.
Now look how these two graphs correlate. See a pattern?

Fair enough, but either way I used it to illustrate that the numbers are not as high as in the USA which I think the graph still shows. I doubt that of those 3 million they are all illegal. The amount of illegal immigration in Sweden pales in comparison and therefore so does the welfare.
I read another article where in the last decade that let in 5000 asylum seekers a year even with the recent immigration issues that is nothing. The US gets that in a week.
I was directly arguing against these two points which I felt were wrong. Having said that I perhaps read too much into “As the US of A is not exactly world famous for its generous welfare,”. Obviously most/many? (The recent influx and timing has me questioning that) are looking for work.
It’s a good thing the adults are in charge due to winning the most votes ever in what experts call “The Cleanest Election of All Time”.

My wifes step-grandmother used to do this. She would be talking about the 1950’s in Alabama like they just happened, then get confused and irrational when people would correct her.

“Diminished faculties” “Painfully slow” Couldn’t remember when he was vice president. Couldn’t remember when his son died.
This is what I was referring to in the threads back when it was announced he would be put forth as a candidate.
His party threw him to the wolves and drained any and all political capital he had left, and this is the shredding of his carcass.
So, he is too addled and old to stand trial for crimes, but he can be president.
Makes sense.

I’ve not had a candidate I have sorta liked since John McCain, but I disliked his VP (Palin). The candidates in the last few have been awful IMO. Biden is only a viable candidate because the GoP’s candidate (or I should say likely candidate) is also awful IMO.
