Biden 2021 - A Mediocre Middle Ground

Nah. Zepstoli most likely doesn’t know how to “like” another’s post, and he’s also unable to detect sarcasm; so, he’d likely just see that his position was already well-articulated(from his POV, “just print more” is pretty convincing) and see no need to comment. That is, if Mama Zep were to unground him from computer usage.

Most of them don’t want to work.

Get out of jail free cards enjoy non binary support.

You’d think that after the 1st million laborers were let in the first year, they’d wait a while to see if those “cheap labor” jobs were in fact filled before upping the influx by another million plus.

I think a lot of these shitholers are too dumb to understand the concept and also, really don’t care about incarceration anyway.

With your current 3,7% unemployment rate (which includes people who’re too fat, lazy, high or insane to want employment) you’ve still got at least a million shitty job openings to fill.

You’re trying too hard. Makes you sound like a job applicant.

I get it that you’re again irrationally upset (as usual, mind you) over the latest thing the MSM told you to be mad about (FOX is MSM by definition) but the fact is that modern Western economies (and corresponding low consumer prices for many goods and services that offset wage stagnation) are based on illegal immigrants doing shitty jobs for a significantly lower remuneration than the locals.

The companies get to reduce their opex, keeping their profits and even transferring some savings towards the consumer/end user.

As the US of A is not exactly world famous for its generous welfare, the pull factors for most of those illegals are those shitty low paying jobs.

And the crux of the problem, despite middle aged rage on social media (including PWI), is that the vast majority of consumers would not be willing to bear the increased financial costs of a low-immigrant economy.

In other words, either no illegals or food delivery apps. Pick one.

And seems that the majority of Americans voted with their phones.

You would be surprised. Besides, cities like Chicago are going to build housing for them. NYC has told students at one school to stay home so the school could accommodate illegals.

No illegals.

Yeah, but much hyped “techological disruptors” that exploded in the last decade from Uber and Airbnb to DoorDash are based on that very business model - depressing native worker wages and replacing them with (illegal) immigrants who’re willing to work for much less.

Every Uber driver I’ve had has been an American. Usually white. Maybe it’s different in big cities.

These stats kinda destroy your assertion:

Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t Uber/Lyft drivers “independent contractors” and therefore do not fall under the “delivery driver” employment category and the statistics you’ve provided?

For what it’s worth, I only use Uber when visiting big cities and I don’t think I’ve ever had someone who sounded like English was their first language.

I believe that is correct, but I am not sure exactly how they are classified. Uber has a food delivery service too I believe.

I would be shocked if the demographics were much different for Uber / Lyft, if they are not included in the article I linked.

I am heavily in the transportation sector on the commercial side and it definitely isn’t dominated by illegal immigrants.

You must be joking.

Where else do they receive social welfare benefits to the extent they do in the United States? Government assistance that most Americans do not receive is often available to illegal immigrants.

This makes no sense.

As you said they are “independent contractors” how are they driving down pay or taking jobs? Uber does not care how many drivers it has (that I am aware of there is no cap on drivers), and the pay has always remained the same. Driving in Metro areas has always been a problem for drivers. Saturation happened quite fast.

Also, there are only like 2 million drivers across all apps.

They could still be American or at least, not illegal.

Wouldn’t we have a lot of immigrants if we were famous for our generous welfare?

The “disruptors” aka the flagship companies of the gig economy are function on a simple sleight of hand by reducing the liabilities side of the balance sheet. Less money to be spent on “independent contractors” than actual employees means larger profit margins.

What is initially advertised as a way to “empower” individuals and supplement one’s income invariably becomes an actual low paying job.

Why should Amazon pay salary and benefits for delivery drivers when they can “empower” independent contractors through Amazon Flex who cover their own operational expenses?

Sweden would be the most notorious example. Unemployment rate for foreign-born immigrants is around 20% while in the US it’s around 4%.

If that was the case then the immigrants, including illegals wouldn’t be working and would be living off welfare like many of them do in Sweden.

Why do arduous, shitty (literally) farming jobs when you can apparently just live off generous welfare?

If you want to reduce immigration, you’d have to address the pull factors (availability of shitty jobs for illegals).
