The RINO’s, all dumped Trump, and disavowed him, because they were scared the purge would come for them. All they needed to do was keep their mouths shut, and not throw their leaders to the wolves eg Mitch McConell, and Romney. Disloyalty is a very unattractive quality for a politician.
It’s irritating as to how one is categorised as a rino if they’re republican yet disavow Trump. You don’t have to be loyal to Donald Trump to be a republican just as a democrat doesn’t have to like (or even vote for) Joe Biden or Hillary Clinton.
What it proves is that these people in particular didn’t and don’t believe in the policy prescriptions that they claimed to hold. They are way more concerned about appearance and narrative. It wasn’t until I saw the policies of the Trump admin, that I started liking him. He was actually implementing the policies so many republican’s always talked about, but never did when they had power.
If you ignore the veneer and look under the hood, he did a lot of good things, policy-wise. So if he is a car, sure he looks like a pimp-mobile, but under the hood is a built big-block with forged internals and high flowing heads.

Though an unoriginal thought - l believe power is so seductive that many conservative politicians drift left to maintain it. Perhaps more now than in the past, since communication is being driven (absolutely dominated) by a younger generation’s technology and typically more liberal stance.
IOW - they will just say, vote anything to stay there. Probably with little care as to any ideology behind the position taken.
Cheerful. Since we already can predict the outcome, I’d rather not. So, if we fight, we will lose and have to mourn our dead and Russia get’s Ukraine anyway and China will get Taiwan. If we don’t fight, Russia gets Ukraine, but we have a fighting chance to save Taiwan, which is more strategically aligned with our interests than Ukraine.
And what do the Ukrainians want? I understand that it’s 50-50, half the country wants to be with Russia…
And why do we still have NATO anyway? It should have died with the Soviet Union. A cold war relic, that is essentially useless and typically aligned against US interests and we are going to have our young people die for that?
Afghanistan left a massively bad taste in my mouth. We do not have competent military leadership, we are not prepared for any kind of war. We’ve only won Desert Storm, since the end of WW2. I am sick of fighting to lose. But hey, Raytheon loves it.
I would be more hawkish if I thought we could at least win a conflict, but our track record is horrid. Are we really going to let the people who brought us that absolute cluster fuck in Afghanistan, take us to war against Russia? Russia is prepared. They are not the taliban.
There are a large amount of Russians living in the Ukraine. My friends ex wife was a Ukrainian of Russian descent, who moved to Australia. She was very quiet when I asked her about what was going on when Russia invaded Crimea in 2014. Her brother was ex KGB, and she identified more as a Russian than a Ukrainian.
I’m not read-up on foreign policy but I am read up on this administrations’ patterns of abject policy failures that also happen to systematically weaken our strategic position at home and abroad.
With a draft-age kid who is likely to be both drafted and even gung-ho enlist should war break out, well, I really hope it doesn’t.
It is also invasion season on the Ukrainian steppe, unless you’re poorly-equipped for the cold, which Russia isn’t. Tanks don’t handle the spring mud well. The time is now, if there ever is a time.
This administration is also the best chance for China to invade Taiwan since Taiwan has been Taiwan, unless they know something about the outcome of the 2024 US Presidential election that we don’t. Do it now while you’ve got Theoden running the show with Grima Wormtongue setting the policy.
Maybe I’m wrong and all of those improved outcomes Trump supposedly robbed us of will begin to materialize soon.
To be honest Europe has already moved forces to Romania and Bulgaria. I live close to the Romanian border and there have been military movement in our roads. Spanish battle ships are already coasted in Romania, while France has sent Air Force. Romania is the closest coastal port to Ukraine.
Norway seems to have sent air to Lithuania. So it won’t be an American war. There has been a lot of preparation in Europe the past years.
For example in Bulgaria we have a parliament urgent meeting today. We are on of the main weapon supplier for Ukraine. Some of our factories got blown up the past years and rumours are it’s KGB agents sabotaging the factories. We even expelled few Russian diplomats the past years for spying.
My point is that it will be Europe dealing with the war, not Joe Biden who is terrible in everything.
There are Eastern regions in Ukraine that speak all Russian. I have lots of Ukrainian friends and I have been in Kharkov, very nice and big university city. All people there speak Russian and a lot are mixed marriages between Russian and Ukrainians. But they are very patriotic and love Ukraine. I am pretty sure they are against any war and just want to live their lives.
Pretty sure there are gas pipe line interests involved here. The global warming propaganda made sure Europe has a lack of energy, so now Putin wants to control all energy and transportation sources in Europe. If so it is in EU interest to protect Ukraine.
Yeah, I got myself up to speed on Ukraine and the answer is, it’s complicated. Here is what I do know, the US is in no shape for war. 2 major powers have not engaged with each other since WW2. This stands a chance of spinning out of control quickly. And if we go in to save Ukraine, we are going to lose both Ukraine and Taiwan, and we will lose our global currency status, which means our economy collapses.

Something told me we would not escape clown world without a war. You’re not going to want this war. It’s going to hit everyone, not just far away lands. And yet, our dear, very elderly leaders seem to be running full steam ahead in the wrong direction.
Our biggest threat is Asia, but were heading to Europe, again, Europe. Fucking Europeans.

And why wouldn’t Russia take Ukraine? Why not China take Taiwan? What the hell are we going to do about it? The military ,movements are tokens at best - 2 F16s away from the action, 1 frigate, promise of a couple of planes to Romania or wherever 3 months from now? The Mexican drug cartels can bring more firepower to a fight than Western Europe.
