We know that enemy fighters/terrorists infiltrated all levels of the Afghani police, military and government, right? And we didnt exactly vet someone’s moral code before we allowed them to help our military. Believe 100% in sharia law, but wont kill me? Sure you can translate for me!
Are people in favor of accepting the Afghani refugees into their communities? What kind of vetting process are refugees going through? Surely just because someone served as an interpretor in 2006 doesnt mean that they dont need as much or more vetting than your average syrian refugee, right?
While the sheep are blaming Biden for the chaos of the pullout, and after seeing the complete collapse of the Afghan military which even the hindsight geniuses, including many military members, could not have predicted, we ignore and/or avoid the real issue: wtf happened to 20 years of training? All of the lives lost and all of the money along the way? What we saw happen to the Afghan military was the end result of that investment?
On Fox news you have military members who served over there saying we should go back in. They blame Biden for a poorly executed pullout. If they knew the Afghan military was a farce then why didn’t they speak up earlier? Because not even they could have foreseen what happened, and they were there. Go back in? For what? Another 20 years and an Afghan army that still won’t fight?
The real issue Americans should be upset about is a phony Afghan army we spent billions on and the American troops who died while the sham went on for 20 years. But why face that when we can just blame Biden?

Because - while what you say is true about 20 years of deceit, Biden is the one who was so inept that he pulled the entire apparatus that would have gotten most of the people and (wishfully) equipment out, first rather than last.

I mean, there’s A LOT to be upset about, not just one thing, which is what you seem to be trying to get everyone to focus on. There isn’t really ONE aspect to point ones ire, more the entire situation, of which this IS but one component (and worthy of ones ire and attention)
Which makes the military and intelligence community criminally negligent and/or incompetent. They are the ones who trained the Afghan army and who, after 20 years, should have had a clue about the situation there. I think this idea that in a complex government the president would be blamed for things that require him to rely on others, who should be more than competent, is silly. I wouldn’t have blamed Trump under similar conditions.
And like I said, none of these experts who are being critical would have predicted what happened with regard to the Afghan military vanishing. Which makes one wonder just how knowledgeable they really are.

There is: the neocon chickenhawks under GWB who set this entire money grabbing facade up. People want to blame Biden for the pullout, fine, it’s a free country. But I’m thinking about all of the dead troops who lost their lives to maintain the 20 year cash grab. All of those Americans who are still in Afghanistan chose to be there; the dead and wounded troops didn’t have a choice. They trusted their leaders to do the right thing.

The only way to prevent something like this happening again is to see what went wrong and why. Ultimately, it would be about following the money and because of where that would lead, there won’t be a serious investigation into it. We’ll never see a thorough accounting of how much money was spent and where it was spent.

I don’t know one thing that is gong right. The economy is royally fucked up, with a never before seen in history problem where there are 10 million jobs and 9 million on unemployment. Yeah, that’s going to work out great. The border is a disaster, there are food shortages everywhere, we were energy independent, now biden is begging opec for help, our military leadership is more concerned about white rage than getting the citizens they brought to afghanstan, out. It’s easier to list the things that are not fucked up. Nothing. Nothing is not fucked up. It’s all bad and getting worse.

I certainly can’t speak for anyone but myself, but my interpreters have a place in my home if / when they ever need it. The US deliberately sat on its hands re: SIVs for over a decade. To pull their chances of emigrating now would be calling the game on account of delay when we were the ones who deliberately caused the delay.
I don’t think so. Not unless we wanted to make Afghanistan the 51st state. Controlling Afghanistan is like pushing water with a broom - it only works as long as you keep doing it.
