Best Whey Protein?

Just a note, I tried a Muscle Milk RTD drink today, Banana Cream flavor. It TASTED LIKE ASS. This really surprised me, since their powdered stuff tastes pretty good.

Do ALL RTD drinks taste like shit?

And why the hell not!?!??!

Anyhow, this feels a bit funny. Imagine if you sold cars for a living and had a group of people over at your house. I come along and start telling everyone AT YOUR HOUSE that my friend Bob sells cars, you should talk to him instead. It’s a bit weird to say the least.

I have tried lots of protein powders in my day, before I found T-Nation. I kept switching brands and flavors looking for something edible. I used to have to choke the things back.

When I got my first tub of Grow! I was actually hesitant to try it, for fear it would be like those other proteins. I was amazed that it tasted so good! I’ve never looked back.

I don’t know about anyone else, but this place has made a huge difference in my life. I’ve gone from being a fat and sedentary to being in shape, knowledgeable about fitness and nutrition and I’ve even gotten advice from pro’s during Prime Time and otherwise.

While it might be possible for me to find something somewhere for a few bucks cheaper, I’ll never do it. Not as long as this place isn’t charging me a fee just to access it.

For giving me control of my life with respect to fitness and nutrition, absolutely free, I’m perfectly happy to give back via consumer loyalty.

Hey all,

I’m glad I found this site/post, as I’m thinking that I need a bit more protein in my diet.

I’m going to try this Grow! stuff everyone says is so great, but have a question.

How do I choose between the Classic MRP or the Low-Carb MRP?

Here’s a little about myself:
I’m 5’7", 153 lbs, maybe 14% body fat.
Been lifting on and for the last 10 years.
This last workout spurt has lasted about a year and a half (though inconsistent week in and week out).
I’m planning to start working out on a set schedule with the HGM workout.

I’m not looking to gain/lose much weight. I think 150-160 is good. I’d like to lower my body fat to just under 10% and gain a bit more muscle.

If someone can also recommend when to take this stuff (aside from pre/post workout), as well as any other general workout/nutrition info, I’d greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

I also agree that “Grow!” is a superior protein supplement . But like it was mentioned before it can become quite pricy. If I could afford it I’d get it but for right now I use Designer Whey . I get 5 lbs. for 22 $ !

I’ve tried just about everything under the sun except for Grow! so I can’t justify either way if it’s worth it or not to buy it. I know that I’ve used EAS, Designer, Nitro-Tech, Isopure and even had Met-RX in the day all with pretty good success. Today I use a basic EAS protein. Next month, who knows. Can you buy Grow! anywhere outside of the web? Any chain stores carry it?

Grow! proteins, MRPs, and protein bars are only available through this site.

We’d have to raise the price significantly if we were to sell them stores.

Ok great point. But for people who are running on a low budget and cant afford Grow! for various reason (For me, I live in Canada) Is Syntrax Matrix a ok alternative to Grow!?

Try Isopure. Very light texture, easily dissolves, no carbs, and not expensive.[/quote]

Are you kidding? Nature’s Best Isopure is ridiculously expensive. Their 8.8 lbs. tub is almost 80 friggin dollars. I don’t know if you pay some special price but from what I’ve seen, Isopure is up there with the most expensive protein powders…

How is ON crap?

How do you know you’re getting all the protein that’s on the label… how do you know ON isn’t adding in all that gelatin and padding the protein numbers?

Label claims and consumer labs. ON has been tested to meet label claims.

Take Low-Carb Grow!. Better proteins.

Take one serving early in the morning, one before bed and the usaul pre/post routine.

Consumer labs testing doesn’t differentiate between low-quality geletin-rich protein and high-quality casien and whey.

This is what many people just don’t get. A lot of companies flat out lie on their labels because it’s practically impossible to test a product to determine if it has the ratio of protein they claim. It’s easy to claim it has mostly CFM whey isolate or another quality protein and actually fill it with something much cheaper.

I buy the cosco stuff also and it’s working well for me. 19.99 for 6 pounds and I haven’t noticed any problems with it. I’m adavancing in weight lifted and in size.

It’s good give it a try.

Pricey? Not really, once you throw in all of the information that you have picked up FOR FREE on the T-Nation site. In fact, it’s a very good deal…Oh you want all the T-Nation information for free and not give anything back…I see.

In fact, you want to come onto the T-Nation FREE SITE and promote someone else’s products. Does this in some way seem fair to you? Think!

By the way, that goes for all of you who have the audacity to sit there and promote someone else’s protein powder on a site that has brought you information from the likes of Waterbury, Thibadeau, Poliquin, Davies and the rest, FOR FREE!

Clean up your act and get some loyalty my friends! This site runs for free because people like us purchase quality products like Grow! from Biotest.

Make any sense?

I’m probably going to try Surge for my post workout. (hey…in for a dime, in for a dollar, right?)

But can anyone suggest something for a preworkout? I was originally thinking Grow! for preworkout and again before bed. Is this good?

Or…

Would Grow! be better as in the morning as samsmarts stated? Though that leaves me again with, what would you guys suggest as a pre workout meal?

this website, while for commercial purposes, also classifies itself as “bodybuilding’s think tank”, which to me would mean the exchange of ideas. Biotest has a lot of people here already singing the praises of their product, but if you think it would be best to stifle all opinion other then about what is sold here, then welcome to communism, I suppose. No thanks.

If you have Surge. Use a serving before your workout and some during the workout as well. Surge is the best quick protein and energy fix you can buy at a reasonable price.

A commercial website praticing communism? Interesting.

$23 seems expensive? There was a time when Grow! cost about $45/tub, and it was still worth it. Ah the good old days.

Cost being relative, however, it is one thing if you can’t afford it, or you don’t like it, don’t want to use it, don’t want to try it, or hey, maybe like frisbee you just ain’t no commie.

But it seems fairly tactless to be sitting here in the supplement forum of the website you enjoy for free, promoting competitors products.

I would bet that nobody on this web site is monetarily benefiting from mentioning which proteins they have used.

Actually, Biotest pays me a dollar for every bottle of Grow! I go through.

I thought they did this for everyone, but I may be mistaken.

Like I said before, you get what you pay for. And $23 for Grow! is cheap in my opinion. I have not looked back since I switched to Grow!.
