I don’t fancy your old guy comment. I’m 49, i lift heavy, i workout 5-10 times a week. Most people overestimate how hard they push weights. I push the weights until i want to cry or pass out. Not saying everyone should go as hard as me, but i see guys wasting their time at the gym pushing baby weight.

The gut takes hard work and dedication. Meaning you can’t eat crap. People underestimate how much crap they eat. The everything in moderation doesn’t apply when you are trying to lose the gut. You also need to cut calories and do additional cardio. Things “bodybuilders” don’t like to do. The TRT will kick in around three months and help mold you if you have diet and exercise in check.

I have by diet in check

Hey, each to his own but the man was asking. Like I said, I used to be a big numbers guy but after 3 shoulder surgeries, both bicep tendons ruptured and numerous aches and pains, its just not worth it.

I’m 54 and much more interested in aesthetics, rather than brute strength.

Without photos, i am making assumptions.

I understand not pushing to injury, but one must still push. I can decline 4 plates on the decline machine. That is brutal and my max. Less brutal is 3 plates and a 25. That is still pushing hard. Not pushing is using 2 plates and doing 25 reps. Not saying anyone here is doing that, just illustrating my point.

The poster said he is at 271 but didn’t list his height. A person at 271lbs does not or did not have their diet in check. I’m 6’5” and ballooned up to 275 back in my early 20’s with no muscle. I was FAT. But at the time I didn’t think i was fat. My diet was crap. And when i cleaned it up, it was still crap. I just didn’t know any better. Sometimes people need a hard dose of reality to get them to see things as they are.

So my tip is that diet is the most interesting thing when you are overweight. Had he said i’ve cleaned Up my diet and been working out for 6 months and listed his efforts, etc. Then i could give better advice. Right now i put him in the same category as those people who join the gym each January.

Maybe, but he had only been on TRT for 3 weeks. He will need time to stabilize and when your hormones are fucked up, then weight loss just isnt eating right. Sometimes it doesnt matter what you do if you Test is in the basement.

I still push but now its thru volume and perfect form and muscle contraction, etc.

He needs 12 weeks to see what TRT will do for him. But he has to be honestly putting in the work as well.

I was joking on the old man comment.

You’ll get there brother. A slow diet takes huge patience but, I think, preserves the most muscle.

Just an FYI, I’m on HGH and its the best cutting compound there is, IMO. Takes about 60 days just to see changes but then by the 90th day, you’ve got veins popping all over the place.
