Best Program for an Early-Intermediate Bodybuilder?

The least he could do is identify a poster that HAS posted a photo and then clarify if they look just like that person, except bigger, with more muscle mass.

Why do I get the feeling that Hell will freeze over before a pic is posted on here?

But retaining more water. Not because of the roids they’ve asked about, but because of the booze they drink.

Honestly there are plenty of people on here who never post pics, and that’s fine. It’s when people ask questions where photos would help, or even when people dole out advice but hAve no personal success proof to share when it’s an issue imo.

As an aside, I think any author speaking as an expert in anything should have mandatory images posted next to their profile. You wanna be a bodybuilding expert? Great, let’s see how you did when you competed, or which champions attribute their success to you. Just a personal pet peeve of mine.

As in this case it would defiantly help if IMO for the OP to post a pic or lifting video to verify his self assessmentt without personal bias clouding things. Along with placating those who are calling him out.

Hi guys I’ve been lifting for a couple of year but never payed attention to mu my diet and did program hopping. I am very weak. I came to the conclusion that since i can’t bench 2 plates, squat 2.5 plates and deadlift 4 plates I am still a beginner and I can/should milk my novice gains:

  1. EAT LOOOTS OF FOOD (maybe going gomad)
  2. RUNNING a BEGINNER ROUTINE. What do you recommend? SS, SL, greyskull LP, fierce 5? (i guess it isn’t a big of a matter, and that any of them would work but if I had to run one of them what would you suggest?

You want us to tell you which program to hop to next?

Haha funny. But actually If i can make linear gains (i think so, I’m very weak) i’d better stick for a long period of time to a beginner routine which makes me as strong as possible in the fastest way (Still as a beginner),on big compounds. But to me those routines all look the same (Stronglifts, Starting Strenght, Greyskull, Fierce 5) and I was wondering one is better then the others even though I think each of them would work and would have its pros/cons.

You can argue about the specifics, but I firmly believe that the best beginner program is the one you do.

Whatever appeals to you most is what will work best.

Crazy idea but if you want to be a bodybuilder, why not try a bodybuilding program? At least two of these are notorious for noodle arms and a big ass.

Why not just go to the gym, say 4 or 5 times a week, and do a few sets of heavy compounds for each movement? Every session, do two or 3 sets of heavy bench, squats, press, pull ups / pulldowns, deadlifts, rows, curls and triceps.

If that seems like too much for each session, do half one session half in another, doesnt matter how you split it really, upper body one day, lower body one day, maybe one day you train muscles on the front, one day muscles on the back.

Just go and lift weights, train each muscle 2 or 3 times per week, heavy, and eat lots. For a beginner there really is little value in a ‘best program’. You don’t need periodisation, thats the whole point of being a beginner. Do the same thing every week, and every week try and do a few more reps or a heavier weight.

If want to do linear forget stronglifts etc, do one of these…

or

(giant sets optional, main thing is the progression in second part of vid)

I would suggest doing a 5x5 stronglifts for 2-3 months. Then jump to itsnutty’s beginner program. You can find it here at the beginners subforum.

I have been in your shoes and since recently. I am not. 5x5 gave me the biggest muscle and strength gains. The problem with it is that it literally kills you and at some point you will hate the gym. For me it was after 10 weeks.

I am on the other program right now and it is killing you in a completely different way and I like it. I have been hopping trough different programs but I can feel and notice changes best with these 2 programs.

Now you see the problem? In the last 3 posts you’ve had 3 different people suggest you do 3 different programs. You don’t know any of us, and short of the three of us getting into a metaphorical dick swinging contest over who’s giving the best advice how are you going to know what to follow?

You know what, though, luckily it doesn’t matter. You will see good progress following any of the 3 approaches, as long as you pick one and stick with it, and, best of all, you will never know whether you’d have made better progress following a different one. So all you’ll know is that you made progress and that will have to be good enough for you.

Look them up, pick one you believe in, that looks interesting to you and that you can do with the time and resources you have. Commit to it, eat lots, sleep well and thats literally all there is too it.

Starting now, rather than next week or next month, will make a bigger difference than having the perfect training plan.

5/3/1 BBB for life.

GOMAD if you can handle the gas and shits. I got like 8 gallons of Organic Milk on sale (A buck each!!!) when I did GOMAD and it wrecked me

just reading this post made me lose the will to live and reminded me never to stray into new threads on the forum again !!! I’m going back in my box.

You just describe why I tend not to give direct advice.
