I’m about to start boxing soon and I’m wondering which program of Christian’s would be the best to prepare for it. I’m an experienced lifter and I have a good base after doing bodybuilding for a while.
For boxing you need strength/power and size, so I’m not entirely sure which training programs would be optimal out of the general athlete, hypertrophy, or strength programs.
None of my programs would work “as they are” for a boxer or another athlete. These programs are designed for those whom building size and strength is the priority. When an athlete trains for a specific sport the program must be adjusted because of the volume of work spent on sports training which already require recovery energy and time. And also because some tweaks in exercises selection and loading parameters are generally required.
For example I have trained several hockey and football players as well as athletes from 27 different sports. And although the same principles are generally applied, I wouldn’t use one of my generic programs with them.

Thanks for the response, CT.
Do you have any recommendations for what I should be doing in the offseason to train?[/quote]
Sadly that goes well beyond a simple Q&A forum. While I will sometimes provide simple programs to illustrate a concept or to solve a specific issue, I cannot design individual program for everybody who asks for it.
You can submit what you plan on doing and I can critique it and provide suggestions though.
