He didnt have his thumbs around the bar and his spotter failed him, BAD! Who spots and jerks his hands off like that?
That had to hurt!
Now remember kids, thumbless grips are for retards.

Yeah, I stopped using thumbless grip a few months ago when I asked myself, “Why am I doing this?” Oh well.

Call me a retard then.

Retard.
In all seriousness, though, why would someone bench thumbless? Is it just for comfort?

This is exactly the reason you should have spotters who can at least hold the weight you are benching.
I once witnessed 405 roll out of a guy’s hands at a benchpress meet. It probably helped that he was about 250 lbs give or take and fortunately wasn’t seriously injured. I switched my grip after that.

yeah, his spoter was a total fuck mook. why would he hold his hands up like that? he is owed a kick in the nuts from the presser.

It’s not the spotter’s fault if the guy can’t even control the negative. Same with the other video- if the bar slips out of your hands and is free-falling, well, you deserve a few bruised ribs.

Dean, the spotter didnt wait until the bar was stabilized after it was unracked. The bar was actually still moving when he yanked his hands off like he had tourette’s.
Now that’s a reminder why no matter how tough someone thinks they are a gun is a fast equalizer - pretty funny though.
