Do you hunt or fish? I have no idea how much tags are around you, but I imagine they aren’t too bad in Texas. Go get some free meat this season man. I know hunting saves me a boatload of money on meat.
Just dont have time. My parents have a 100 acre ranch, and last season they got 3 bucks and 4 does, plus a ton of hogs. Also one turkey.
I hope to maybe get a weekend away to hunt this fall, but with work etc. I just dont know.

I keep a rifle in my truck when I leave for work. During season after work, I will go and park my truck on an old pond levee or the railroad tracks overlooking a field. Makes for a pretty good stand and I don’t have to change out of my work clothes so I can get a quick evening hunt in. I have taken several does this way and considering that I try to supply 3 households with meat I have to take several each year.

But you cant do that in Texas.
Texas has laws?
I thought he just meant you couldn’t because of the terrible twins that roam at night and take your teeth and your ass.

Which part is illegal? Just curious.
Can’t hunt from a vehicle here.
You can here, as long as it is not on a public road or public land, is parked, and the ignition is off.
One of my Dad’s favorite tactics when he really needed one for the freezer would be to clip a lane through the middle of a field in the afternoon, then just sit on the tractor. Deer are incredibly curios and it never failed that one would come check out that fresh cut lane.

If you did that tractor tactic here…lord have mercy, they’d have your truck, gun, your left testicle and your first born child.
Can you hunt from ladder stands there? Just substitute a stand for the tractor.

Is it that bad here? Wow.
When I was in Missouri there were a lot of people who just hunted straight out of their trucks on the side of the road. I don’t think it was legal, but it still happened all the time.

Haha, yeah, our game laws on private land that you own are extraordinarily relaxed. Basically anything goes as long as its during the day.
Exactly as they should be! I also know in MS, if you own the land (name is on the deed) you can kill deer year round. Just have to claim it is how you eat, pest control from them destroying gardens, etc.
And in MS don’t ever let game wardens try and push you around on private property. They don’t have as much authority as they would like you to think. They can be told to get the fuck off private property by the owner like anyone else. They still need a warrant.

I am pretty sure you have to have homestead on the acreage in order for the year around rule to apply. Wouldn’t swear to it though.

Hey, maybe he was an apprentice. Being a brickie has always been one of the best payed manual employments. It’s skilled, and the work really does need to be good. If you house falls on you in the middle of the night, who do you think pays?
I still like the Roman method.
When they removed the last piece of scaffolding holding up an arch, the mason was supposed to stand right below it.

Yep, you are correct. Why my homestead is on my hunting grounds =D. Few ways around it though.
