Being Absent From the Weightroom

Every once in a while I usually end up taking a vacation with my friends or my family, out of range of a weight room or workout facility. How can I prepare my body the week before this vacation for being gone. Or what could I maybe do after the vacation to get back on track?

Don’t worry about it. Whatever you lose, if anything, during your vacation, you will gain back fairly quickly.
How long are your vacations?

Mexico this April with a bud and his parents, 4 days?, then I usually go to the lake with my family in the summer, and I have yet to find a gym around there, and I usually go for 5-7 days.

So since I follow a 3-day workout schedule I usually gotta cram all 3 days together or just skip the week.

You may want to consider intentionally overtraining the week before your vacation, then just make sure you eat plenty of good food during vacation. Maybe lift each body part really hard 2-3x the week before…something like that. Just a thought.

You’re worried about missing 4 days? Jesus.

Just enjoy your damn vacation!

^ Ok I like your thought on the situation haha

Well I could just intentionally overtrain the week before, enjoy my vacation, and come back and bust ass in the weightroom again. I’m just very anal and hate falling away from routine ha

…its only four days…

I know but thats a whole 3 workouts that it takes out, so I was just wondering if skipping a week from the weight room would effect much.

the rest will actually help your gains you should try it more often

If you miss one workout you will shrink into a vortex and cause the demise of all mankind!! NOOOOO!!!

Ah good idea. I’ll put more vacation time down on my calendar

lol yep it’s good to take a week off once in a while. have fun on your trip

thanks guys

“2 a days”. Workout 2 times a day for the week prior, with new exercises. You’ll be sore on vacation.

I read about a study done that you could skip weight lifting an entire summer and you won’t loose any mass as long as you keep active(ie swimming or something along those lines). And you’re strength might only go down 10%. Stength and muscle doesnt dminish as fast as people think. It’s just that feeling and pumped look that goes away quick, but can come back just as quick after a few weeks of lifting.

Try telling that to Dave Tate, or Jay Cutler. It all depends on what level you’re at. The average American would get stronger if they simply stayed active, weekend warriors would probably not lose much or anything by simply staying active a lot, that study doesn’t take into account that people are gasp not all at the same level, so they would react differently.

Not to so I completely agree with tw0scoops, but Kevin Levrone would take off six months of the year to only write music and would train the other six months and be contest ready for the olympia. he was a freak.

Most of the trainers on this site recommend taking a couple weeks off for every 12 or so weeks of intense weight training. Just enjoy your time off when it comes.

You might come back feeling even stronger than before!
