Begin...The Rest is Easy

Meant to add to the original, woke up at 280.4 after waking up at 279.6 yesterday. This still isn’t intentional weight loss, per se, but i am continuing behavior that has led to the weight loss. It’s amazing how much easier pull-ups are without those 10-15 lbs

Sleep has been shit the last two days, partner is on call and has been getting blown up which is wrecking me too. Think I’m going to buy a sofa bed and sequester her on nights she’s on call. Woken up multiple times before midnight, had to take the dog out one of those times and binge ate a ton of snacks while doing so. Also ate kinda poorly this morning. Not great but not the end of the world, should be better throughout the rest of the week.

As far as the lifting went, everything felt fine but tiring. Top set of push press was pretty heavy, I probably only have 3 cycles in me until it gets real rough unless I get some gains from technique, which I think is going to happen given my back off sets improved each time. I realized that I should not only get leg drive but also push with my shoulders, in the bottom position… on my last set.

Peloton tonight if I ever get relived of dog duty

Thanks, dude! Big fan of bro hugs, I’ve got 4 or 5 more days before this level of sleep really starts impacting me so I should be fine once shit normalizes (tomorrow night).

20 min low impact peloton, amazing how sore my legs are.

Ran to Costco (an hour away lol) and got a bunch of solid stuff, including some steaks getting ready to be cooked tonight.

Also saw a cheap bike roughly my size on FB marketplace so I drove an extra 25 min to get it

Probably wont use it more than once a week for now but should be a goof way to put the peloton training to the test and get outdoors

I go so out of my way to visit Costco that most people would find it ridiculous.

Cool bike!

Also, I’m loving Soccer Mommy’s new single

It actually came up on my mix on the drive to Costco but it didn’t really register, I’m sure I’ll give it another listen. I love color theory, are you aware if she’s releasing another album?

On that note, I listened to Nearer My God to Thee a few more times, including once on the drive. I really like the first third, I kind of lose interest around the (way too long) Five Cups but really like it again starting at Bastardizer until the end.

Also thought to my self that bastardizer would be a better name than pervertor, get it together Wendler.

Interesting because although I don’t dislike her previous work, I am not the biggest fan. So I think I am starting to see how our tastes slightly differ, maybe. Though a lot of the music I adore took more than one or two listens to grow on me, which I think is the case for a lot of people. Yes, her new album is coming out in June.

Nearer My God is a masterpiece. I would die for so many of those songs, ahahaha. Except for Crown Candy, which they admit was sort of a mess that probably should not have been included. I love Five Cups, how dare you! I usually set PRs or at least do grueling workouts to many of these songs.

Ahahaha, that Bastardizer comment made me laugh out loud. That does sound like such a Wendler-esque program name.

I’ve been noticing that too, I’m not positive how to qualify the difference but I seem to lean harder towards the sad girls than you do.

Yep, I’m one of those people. Makes it harder to get into new bands and makes it harder to exit them but that’s just how it works for me.

<3

I actually like Crown Candy, it’s definitely weird in the context of the rest of the album but I’m not infatuated enough with the album for it to bother me. Speaking of, I feel like all of the 8 minute songs end up being favorites on albums I love even if they’re not popular with the general public. Something about being obsessed with an album makes one appreciate them more.

I’ve PRed to St Cloud, so it’s not that weird but it’s still kind of weird of you :stuck_out_tongue:

Btw, I love that the last 30 or so seconds of Gameshark is the instrumental to “Nearer My God to Thee” the Christian song. I was raised Mormon and thought that song was ours until I saw the name of this album, confusing being in Christendom but not really a typical Christian.

I believe this is because I am much pickier with female vocalists. For example, I have given her work a few more chances, but I still cannot say that I understand Mitski’s huge appeal.

So, you like the flops on albums. I know, I know, n = 1…

Not familiar with that. But I dunno how can anyone can listen to Grand Paradise and not magically set PRs on deadlifts.

The lead singer has an interesting relationship with religion. Their second album is polarizing and probably the most disliked, but I should mention that it is a big Fuck You to the Catholic church.

I like her but don’t love her. I like her music more than her voice, specifically, but I don’t like any of it enough to come up with an argument defending its appeal.

Sometimes bands and their biggest fans don’t really understand their music

St Cloud is Waxahatchee’s last full album, I think @wanna_be commented talking shit about my music choice when it was playing. I’ll give GP a try for my next PR set on deadlifts, something magical has to happen or I’m giving up on them (undecided if “them” is Foxing or deadlifts) forever!

The majority of the people I know around my age have similar feelings towards Catholicism (and religion, in general, to a lesser extent).

Took the last two days full off, got ~12k steps yesterday but didn’t do much else. Head has been 100% out of it, stress, fatigue, and bad gut are all taking pretty heavy tolls.

Deadlifts
Shoulder warmup
Pullups (n, p, s): 8, 5, 6
Jumps: 1x2 (something in my inner thigh/groin popped and was painful)
Deadlifts: 135 x 5, 225 x 5, 275 x 3, 315 x 5, 365 x 5 (supposed to be 360), 405 x 5, 315 5 x 5
SA KB Press: 35 x 20, 18, 12
EZ Cable curl (wide): 80 x 20, 18, 12
GHR: 3 x 10

Second jump to a 24" box popped something in my leg, hurt the rest of the session. Getting into position was worse than pulling but nothing felt great. It got better as blood moved into it though so I think it will be fine if I keep moving it and give it some time, no real concern. Was moving slowly today though, still can’t find my flow but I’m going to get on the peloton and make myself do something hardish (assuming my groin tolerates it) this afternoon. Hopefully that will be what I need. Otherwise just need to improve diet (carbs on carbs on carbs) and get through this week so I can sleep this weekend.

If I did I hope you know it was purely in a joking playful manner. I never yuck somebody’s yam. I have horrible taste in music and don’t even listen to any working out so

Oh yea, I wasn’t trying to insinuate you were being a dick. I’m usually pretty sarcastic or lighthearted on these forums, generally not trying to take things too seriously but …

bro, what the fuck?

My beats got stolen out of my truck and I don’t feel like spending another $200 lol. Maybe next big over time check I get I’ll splurge but who knows.

Now on the rare occasion I work out at home I blare music but it doesn’t get my too hyped up or anything, I just like music lol

That blows! I generally am not much of a music-for-hype guy myself either, Avenged Sevenfold was on at the gym the other day when I forgot my headphones, actually turned out to beneficial because I got my workout done faster so I didn’t have to listen to anymore of it.

45 min peloton @ 141 watts
Facepulls 50
Pulldowns 50

That was tougher than it should’ve been, was breathing hard for a lot of it. Imagine I will get it back quickly, my quads are still sore from my squat workout like 5 days ago which is a good indication my recovery has been terrible. Ate a lot of food today, mostly good, so that ship should right itself.

In other news I started a 5 week power zone program to improve my FTP score, it’s only 3x a week but they are longer harder rides so after I finish FSL I might go something low volume to give myself a bit of leeway to recover. Plan is to maintain weight within 3lbs of 280 for this stretch, woke at 281.4 this morning.

Got Dominos last night but order 1 thing fewer than normal, to limit binge damage. Still ate too much last night and a box of chicken this morning but at least was active throughout the day and am determined to use it for good today.

Peloton 45 min @ 145 watts (tiny pr)

This felt a ton better than two days ago.

Going to hit bench later this afternoon when I get a break.

Got 5s week starting tomorrow and the plan is:
Saturday: Squat
Sunday: Push Press
Monday: 1 hour cycle (first ever, hope legs are a bit more recovered)
Tuesday: DL or off
Wednesday: DL or off, 45 min cycle
Thursday: off
Friday: 45 min cycle, Bench

Got some ground beef thawing that i’ll cook up for lunch after I get some walks in with the dog, feeling a lot better than earlier in the week.
