Congrats on the offers and awesome pressing!

Thank you! The interview process is a pain in the ass (45 min w/ CTO, ~8 hours of work for home test, 3.5 hour zoom interview with like 5 people)but it turned out to be a pretty wild financial success. Will help with the state taxes, never paid those before!

Pretty pumped about the PR, definitely made the rest of the session better.

Pile of chicken to eat before I leave for Vegas on Wednesday

What a class grind!

Wait what, you’ve pressed 365 over head before? Were you conpeting in anything at that time?

Oh god no, that sentence was a continuation of the run on sentence previous to it talking about front squats (FS). That would be pretty sweet though lol

Oh i should stop skim reading so much, haha. Still a great front squat!

Gf has a few friends coming for dinner, waited until one got here before lifting lol. (Un)fortunately I was already an edible in.

Bench:
135 x10, x5, 185 2x5, 225 1 x 5, 1 x 20 (rep pr)
CGBP:
225 x 5 (tris are fried from max pressing yesterday)
Band flies: 3x15
Tri rope pulldown: 35 3x20 ss w/ overhead SA band extension 3x15
BB calf raises: 225 3x25 (losing grip on last set)

I told myself I would stop lifting if I got 20 reps at 225, something I’ve been strong enough to do before but never actually got done, but once I hit it I felt more like lifting, like always.
First rep of close grip was rough, I think I use my triceps about as much as anyone in OHP, maybe too much they were gassed today, still gave them a beating.

Going to go eat a lot of whatever my gf made and will actually hit the gym for the first time in probably 3 months tomorrow. Going to crush my back and bis

That’s a pretty badass rep PR man

Thanks dude, been wanting it for a long time but never prioritized it, tried to hit it as a back off set a few times but didn’t quite get it. Glad to finally have it in the bag, going to set some new goals when I get to Ithaca that are more body weight oriented.

In completely unrelated news one of my gfs friends said I was looking “jacked…like Chris Pratt”. Not sure how to take that lol

Body weight exercises or body comp?

You gotta figure out which movie she’s talking about. Jurassic park Chris Pratt was pretty jacked right?

Lifting goals in relation to bodyweight, to encourage relative strength gain, which hopefully encourages recomp. Something like bodyweight OHP, trap dL 2x bodyweight for 10 or similar. Figure bodyweight OHP will be easier if I’m not 290 lol

I asked “fat Pratt?” she said “no, jacked version” still not sure I like it

Machine curls: 65 3x10
Straight arm lat pulldown: 80 4 x 10
Rope curls: 40 x 25

Got a solid pump and back workout, my grip and back were more fatigued going in than I had expected. Going to find something to beat into the ground tomorrow then fly to Vegas until Sunday

Random hodgepodge of a workout today, pretty much everything hurt, started doing a WOD but realized my grip had 0 chance on the axle so I broke it into pieces.

5 rounds 120lbs w/ axle
12 deadlift
9 hang clean
6 push press

Lateral dB flies: 15 3x20
Landmine SA press: 90 2x10
BSS: 1x10, 35 3x8

Did a few squats with 135 to see if I could figure out some form issues but a few friends were using the bar so left it there.

Went on an impromptu jog that turned out to be 1.3ish miles, no idea how long it took but it wasn’t fast. Surprised how decent it felt after the split squats, turns out not smoking makes things easier. I think I could convince myself to run more if I dropped some weight, about a decade ago when I was 220ish I ran a fair amount, was never fast but did okay (2mi 13:30, 5k 22min, 10mi ~90). Maybe that’ll be part of the bodyweight oriented lifted goals.

Got back from home yesterday but was exhausted so didn’t get a lift in. Went for a 4ish mile hike with solid elevation gain this morning and got a super lazy back day in after.

Shoulder warmup
Trap DL: 310 5x5
DB curls: 30 2x8
Pound stone curls: axle (30) x 100
Axle row: 190 3x8
Straight band pulldown: 2x15

Digestion is wrecked from the travel, will try and get things back in order this week.

Took me most of the day but got down and did a bit of work eventually, it was 84 when I started lifting, definitely the warmest my garage has been thus far.

Shoulder warmup
Axle OHP: 80 x 10, 120 x 5, 150 3x8, 1x12 (left a rep or two in the tank)
Lateral/front band raises: 3x10
Facepulls: purple band 2x20, green band 3x10
Hang cleans: bar x 10, 95 x 6, 165 3x5

Digestion is trying to sort itself out, quickly, will be glad to be gone of the bloat in any case. Definitely sapped some of the energy from me but did enough to feel okay about it. Need to warm up for cleans better going forward, first few reps of 165 were real ugly.

Still warm in Seattle, which is making working out a bit more annoying but everything else way better, definitely a net positive. I dropped 6lbs from yesterday, the bloat was real, still dropping a bit but should stabilize tomorrow.

In other silly news, stepped off the bed yesterday and found my foot on a dog bone which tweaked my knee, little sore but not too bad, squats were planned for today, made it through with minimal knee pain.

Shoulder warmup, skips, butt kickers, high knees, bunch of other stuff

FS:
95 x 5, 135 x 5, 185 x 5, 225 x 5, 245 x 5 (belt rest of way), 275 x 3, 295 x 3, 205 x 15
Band pullthroughs: 2x15
RDL: 135 x 5, 205 x 5, 255 3x8 (belt on last set)
Assisted pullups: 1x5, 1x10 (straps)

Thought about calves, thought about single leg stuff but I was pretty exhausted and left it there. 3rd day in a row working out and averaging 10k steps after 5 days of sabotage, feels good but it’s definitely taking a lot out of me.

The set of 15 on FS was absolutely brutal, I got about 5 in a row to start, then 3, then 1s the rest of the way except a double at 12/13 which almost caused me to fail because I lost tightness. Took me about 5 min to get my heart rate down after that. Top end strength seems decent, could’ve likely hit 315 x 3 and can probably hit 365 +/- 15 for a single. Will give it a few more workouts and test a max, just for fun.

Took yesterday off, been sleeping a lot, catching up from travel I assume.

Shoulder warmup, low back and leg stretching
Trap DL: 150 2x5, 220 x 5, 270 x 5, 310 x 5, 360 x 5, 400 x 5 (belt), 450 2x3, 1x10 (pr)
Hammer curls: 25 3x8
Pound stone: axle x 102
Rope row: 90 x 10, 125 3x10
Band straight pulldowns: 2x15

Big effort on my last set of deads, followed almost immediately by pound stones. I went from having a small bead of sweat on me to dripping in like 4 minutes, good workout. Will hit bench tomorrow or Sunday

Think I’m going to try and run a split with a primary and an accessory until I move in a few weeks, not going to break any records or anything but will try and stay as consistent as possible until then.

Chest/back
Shoulder warmup, light tricep work, 50 jumping jacks, 1 mile walk
BP: 135 x 10, 185 x 5, 225 2x5, 245 1x3, 3x10
CGBP: 155 2x10
Pullups: Green band 4x5, Fuscia band 2x5
Straight arm pulldown: 35 3x10
Tricep pulldown: 35 3x15
Tricep overhead: 35 3x15
Meadows rows: 45 3x10
Hammer curls: 25lb plate x 8, 35lb dumbbell 2x8

Rear delts and triceps felt weak on the bench press but 245 for 3 sets of 10 is still a solid amount, was absolutely toast by the time close grip came around. Nothing else too exciting, got some decent pullup volume in, definitely much stronger at the movement than i’ve ever been, feels like my back is growing too. Will hit front squats with shoulder accessory tomorrow, in all likelihood

Hope you’re looking forward to the move! My co-worker is.

Stressed about the moving process but am excited about actually getting there! There’s a strongman comp in September (an hour away) that I likely won’t sign up for but may go and check out to see if I like the atmosphere.

Stomach was off and had an annoying day but got down and did some work.

Shoulder warmup, 50 jumping jacks, front rack exercises
FS: 135 x 5, 185 x 5, 225 x 3, 275 x 2, 315 x 1, 335 x 1, 365 x 1 (tied PR), 405 x 0 (lol), 275 x 5, 225 x 10
Lateral/front raises: 3x10
Face pulls: 3x25
SA DB press: 40 3x10

The PR attempt was real dumb, my upper back has been sore for like a week straight, I’ve front squatted roughly 3 times this year, and haven’t touched over 295 when doing so. I didn’t really get close but 365 moved well and my back off sets were solid despite the miss. Will do some ancillary leg work tomorrow since I bailed on the rest of my leg session after the set of 10.

@throwawayfitness not the same lift but I also got buried by 405, if it makes you feel better
