@wanna_be So trying to do DB press after hitting incline bench is tough, could’ve handled 100s but since it’s about the first time I’ve done dB press in a year decided to not be too dumb. I decided early on I was just going to go for this workout and crush my back, I’ve been eating a ton so I had plenty of fuel, was impressed I got it done in an hour though.
Ha, we’re just getting into the weeds. There are only like 20 positions for her residency so not super optimistic, she’s been practicing for a few years though so there’s a place to fall back on.
Haven’t been doing a ton, took like 9 days off in a row, seattle got a ton of snow and I had 0 motivation but it’s slowly leaking back into my system plus a friend is trying to workout at my place 3 days a week, so that should be my minimum. Weight is about the same, strength is a little lower, conditioning is suffering.
So got 3 days in last week and it looks like i’ll get at least 3 for this week.
Did an upper session today, top sets:
Bench: 3x5 275
BB Row: 3x5 275
Assisted pullups: 5x5 (lost a bit here)
Cable curls, high rows, and tricep pushdowns.
Some band tricep and facepulls
Nothing to write home about, think that’s the heaviest i’ve ever rowed, was hard but felt good. Going to keep doing those with high intensity for awhile.
Had a friend tell me how cool cross country skiing was like 2 months ago, finally going out tomorrow, feel like my cardio is going to be exposed but figure it should be a great time.
Shoulders:
Axle clean + press: 4x5 140
(not that) High pulls: 3x10 140
front/lateral band raises
Landmine press: 55 3x12
Few random curls with the bar
No real direction here, just going through the motions but figure it’s better than nothing. Feel like I’ll be ready to get back in building mode post Hawaii
Went to maui a couple years ago. Amazing views and outstanding hiking. Everyone does the “road to Hana” which is a cool day trip and has some really cool spots to stop and hike, bamboo forests, waterfalls and shit. It’s really busy though, and you’re in for a treat driving the back roads there.
We stayed in lahaina on the NW side of the island. If you drive north along the coast, it’ll take you to some fucking amazing views, and cool places to get out of the car and explore. It wasn’t nearly as busy as the road to Hana, and I honestly liked going north better than south to Hana.
Again, the roads are crazy. Single lane for 1/4 mile stretches, on the side of a cliff with no guard rails. If you come up to oncoming traffic, one of you is backing up to a pull off to let the other person go.
In July were spending a week in Maui and then another 4-5 days on the big island, which I’ve never been to before.
Awesome, thanks for the info. We’re going to be in Kihei, which looks to be 35 or so minutes from where you were, I’ve been meaning to research what to actually do but haven’t gotten around to this so this is super helpful. I hadn’t even looked deep enough to find the Road to Hana yet :shame: Planning on hiking and eating a ton though, my desire to be on a beach all day is limited so the more to do the better!
TBH I can’t remember if the roads are shitty or not. There wasn’t any off roading that you had to do to get anywhere up north… But I could be wrong. We had a wrangler so I didn’t think twice about where we had to go.
One thing I regret not doing is going to see the sunrise on the crater. Might end up doing it this upcoming trip.
So much stuff to do there dude, it’s an awesome place.
Skate skiing is fucking hard, some much technique, so much balance, so much leg and core involvement. Definitely was much harder than expected but got better as the day went on and feel like I could be competent in a few more runs, was a beautiful day out there in any case.
