Thanks, dude, definitely my strong suit. If only deadlifting came this easy.

Press looked awesome man. Badass set up you have down there. Must be 10 foot ceilings lol

Lol I don’t know how tall it is but you’re reminding me I probably can’t dunk atm which is shameful.

Like pressing an empty bar! Is this the first time you’ve ever used an axle consistently, or had you already experimented with one at the gym?

First time, the grip is really the biggest difference, it’s way more comfortable to go thumbless which probably isn’t doing bad things for my press. It also keeps the bar a little further forward due to the increased diameter but I find this less annoying on pressing motions than pulling ones.

That makes sense. An axle seems pretty cheap to buy or make, so maybe I’ll try it one day. I imagine benching with it is interesting as well

Yea, like $70 from Titan, the powder coating doesn’t seem like it’s going to last long but I don’t really care about that and I doubt it will impact the rest of the bar. I figured I didn’t have the requisite tools to make one so buying was going to be cheaper and easier.

Benching with it is more uncomfortable for me but that’s probably because I’m much more used to barbell benching than barbell overhead (I haven’t done much ohp historically) but it seems to push stress to different areas a bit. My favorite thing about it atm is honestly that it gives me a second straight bar which allows me to superset things like squats and rdl. In terms of bang for your buck I don’t think you can do much better.

That’s a good point. It sucks not being able to superset barbell movements, like benching and rowing. But I also think I would need to order more plates… those would definitely be more expensive than the axle!

To paraphrase a saying my grandpa repeated a number of times, “a home gym is a hole into which you pour money.” Weights are stupid expensive though, if I increase intensity much more I’d have to buy more to be able to continue supersetting stuff.

Got drunk on NYE, smoked a couple of cigs, and have felt terrible since. Ate a miserable amount of dominos yesterday and woke at 293 this morning. Going to try and stay completely away for at least January.

Back
Jumps
Axle rows: 120 2x10, 170 2 x 10, 190 2x10

Sumo dl: 330 7x3, 1x10

Hammer band curls: 3x15

Limited myself to 10, so as to not fatigue too much, had 3 or 4 left easily. Plan is to go down tonight do some vertical pulling and bis while finishing the pulley. Also plan to finally put up transformation pics. I have booked a flight to Hawaii for the beginning of March so that should add to the motivation

Means your normal life is too healthy! Be a little less healthy and then these nights won’t effect you :joy:

Lol I smoked for like a decade from which my lungs are still recovering and there were some other factors mixed into nye that won’t be mentioned on the internets

Finished connecting the pulley, the carabiner is a bit annoying and it’s making me want to rotate my setup 90 degrees but works well enough

Rope curls: 35 x10, 70x8
Lat rope pulldowns: 115 4 x 10
Axle curl: 50 3x15

Too lazy to take pictures atm

Not the leanness I wanted after a year but considering I’ve never been stronger I’m pretty happy with my physique changes over the last year.

Cold seems to want to linger forever, only time i feel okay is when I’m doped up with cold medicine. Have two negative Covid test in hand and no symptoms apart from cold ones, so seems unlikely it’s that.

Monday weight was 289.2
Today 288,8

Means I lost 0.8 pounds from last Monday, which i’m happy about considering how poorly I ate and controlled impulses. Hopefully sub 288 next week and hopefully can start lifting again tonight or tomorrow. In other news, hopefully the gyms open soon, were supposed to open the 4th (after being delayed twice) but now it’s looking like the 11th. Not holding my breath but hoping it will happen before Jan ends.

289.6 wednesday, 288.2 yesterday, 289.2 today. 5 straight days in the 280s, hooray.

Still not feeling great mentally or physically but made myself lift to hopefully buoy my mental side, at least.

Bench:
Shoulder warm up (facepulls, dislocations, pull aparts)
135 x 10
185 x 5
225 x 5
245 x 3
275 x 2
280 x 12

Tri pulldown 3 x 12 35
Landmine rope row 3 x12 90

Did quite a bit of coughing and my stomach felt off the entire time, going to dedicate at least a decent chunk of this year to attempting to get help. Feel physically mediocre at best and bad to awful the vast majority of the time, need to change it, it definitely is impacting my mental side. I assumed smoking and drinking were the largest contributors but even with those cut out not much has changed.

I don’t think I’m going to finish Juggernaut, it’s a worthwhile program but when I don’t feel well the last thing I want is to be pushed into doing x amount of y work. I’ll see how I feel tomorrow but I’ll probably go back to doing my own stuff, I enjoy that way more and make decent progress.
