Isn’t there a big ass squat rack for giants like you? Can’t remember if rogue or EliteFTS
There’s a very tall one in my gym from Rogue, not sure it’s quite tall enough. I’ll test it out if I’m ever allowed to return to the gym :sad_noises:
@wanna_be definitely wasn’t trying to call you out in the Olympia thread, other guy came off as a dick. I have no idea how old they are but I’d guess around 40, think quite a few of the men are about that age as well.
Yea I went back and read and I don’t think you were even talking to me lol I miss read. They all look better than I ever will, I was just blown away at how old they looked in the face. The comment about collagen and stuff makes sense. I was just expecting some younger looking women. But, this shit takes a lot of time so it only makes sense for them to be on the older side with that much development.
Ha, I thought I responded to that guy but, to be fair, I had just smoked some weed when I read that, so I’m not 100% sure.
I looked up the ages of the top 5 men:
Ramy: 36
Curry: 38
Phil: 41
Hadi: 33
Nonac: 38
Average age is just over 37, pretty crazy how long it takes to create that much mass even with the cycles they’re on. I find BB fascinating, I don’t follow it super closely but I read the r/bodybuilding almost daily. My girlfriend is very confused about it, maybe even to the point of slight concern lol
Yea they are definitely up there in age. I read that subreddit as well. It seems a few of the top guys are “past” their prime. Some of the side by side shots of them from 5-10 years ago really show how bigger they used to be. Be interesting to see the new young guns coming in like grimes. I don’t really follow it, but do read about it when I see it.
Yea, Phil is definitely well past, seems like a dick too, hopefully this was his last hurrah. Crazy that Jackson is in his 50s in that condition, truly mind-boggling.
Grimes did really well, I imagine he could be top 5 by the time he is 30, if not sooner. I haven’t been following long enough to understand the rate of attrition among bodybuilders though. I imagine a bunch of reasonably solid younger guys drop out after health concerns related to all of the gear and mass they carry around but I don’t actually know if that makes any impact.
Conditioning/lifting for the day, in like 3 (mind-blowingly awful) minutes.
Legs felt sore after like 10, hip felt weird after like 15, hip stopped feeling weird but everything else was miserable the rest of the way. Glad to break the 100 mark, also over 15,000 lbs in one set lol. Should maybe not squat on consecutive days before doing this
Because I’m in some sort of weird hypomanic yet masochistic mood, I waited about 15 min, long enough to stop feeling nauseous and went back down.
4 mat trap pulls:
150 x 5, 240 x 3, 330 x 1, 420 x 1, 490 x 1, 540 x 1, 570 x 1
That is all the weight I can load on my bar with my current setup and also the most weight I can lift, at least in a fatigues state. Will post the video later, got the belt in the 3rd set of holes for the last set which is likely better for my psyche than lifting but still happy
Woke up at 6 and was hungry, decided to try and go back to sleep, to no avail but laid in bed for an hour. My whole back half is beat to hell after yesterday, told my friend I would lift with him around 1pm, so I’ll do some light shoulder stuff but am pushing myself pretty hard at this point. It’s enjoyable but would be unwise if I didn’t have a mandatory break on deck.
Woke at 293.2 yesterday and 292.6 today, which puts me at a 2 pound loss from last Monday, which is great. Hopefully can not gain any weight this week and start losing again the week after. I’ve never successfully cut while lifting, the idea of providing myself too little food during periods of hard work just doesn’t compute, so the Transformation will be interesting. Currently planning on doing something like cutting 10lbs over 6 weeks, doing a week of maintenance/slight surplus then repeating for a total of 3 cycles. Would put me around 260, which should be a good middle ground to either gain or cut more from.
Tall friend came over, he’s just restarting gzcl and did front squats and bench. Not really telling him how to do much but am trying to sneak in tips occasionally.
Shoulders:
Warmup (pull aparts, dislocations, face pulls)
OHP: 120 5x10 (cleaned first rep of each)
Hang clean: 120 3x10
Band upright rows: 3x15
Band front/side raises: 2x10
Landmine SA Press: 45 x10, 55 3x10
Landmine rear delt row: 55 x 10, 45 3x10 (these are amazing)
Single arm axle front raises: Bar x 10
Took me about an hour to do all that so pretty slow compared to how quickly I have been working, was a fun workout though. Weight was pretty low and got in a bunch of volume, I remembered the rear delt row from years ago and gave it a shot, immediately felt it working, will 100% be adding these to the rotation. I was waiting for my friend to move when I tried the front raises with the axle, the weight isn’t super bad for me but the stabilization was definitely hard, not sure how much value these have but I might do them every once in a while. Not currently sure I’m going to be traveling later this week, risk seems to be increasing, will actually have to deload here if I don’t travel, going to drive me batshit crazy. Maybe I’ll go for some runs.
291.2 yesterday, took the day off but got 8400 steps. 289.2, not sure what I’ll do today, maybe a back squat session before heading home. I’m being more conscious about what I’m eating but my new fiber/medicine routine is playing a huge part. This is the lightest/leanest I’ve been this year. I’ve been slacking on protein intake, will start making bulk chicken thighs when I get back, now that I’ve acquired a functioning propane tank again.
Did a back and bi workout with a couple friends, some trap deads, quite a lot of rowing, good amount of bicep work and pull ups.
Don’t remember what I actually did but fatigue from my deficit and workload are impacting me pretty hard. Going home to eat a bunch, take some walks, and hopefully not get Covid. Inverted Juggernaut 8x3s start next week.
Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays everyone. Surplus time!
Return to Juggernaut.
Bench:
255 7x3, 1x15 (good effort here, left 2 grinders in the tank)
Landmine rope row: 90 3x10, 115 2x8
Slingshot test run: 255x3, 315 x 7
Face pulls, tri pulldowns/overheads/kickbacks mixed into the work session.
Took a long while to get comfortable, changed how I setup midway through, setting the shoulders before the feet (like everyone else) and it helped me get more leg drive. Also moved down the bench a bit to help get tighter. Seems like a smart change.
Got a landmine attachment, wireless speaker, pulley system (need to set up still), slingshot, and trap bar (got this early). So gains should be incoming.
I’ve never used a slingshot before but it’s super easy to adjust to and even though my triceps were toast before the 315 set those 7 were pretty easy, could probably do at least 10 fresh.
I bought myself a long tri pulldown rope and since I don’t have any other attachments I used that in lieu of a t bar attachment for rows. Worked well.
That’s a happy lifter’s christmas!
Yesterday 291
Today 290.4, 2.2 lb loss from last week, should be solidly in the 280s next week, which is exciting.
290.0 this morning after eating a lot of low quality food yesterday.
Pretty dead for this workout, was low on calories, have been eating poorly, and have been sleeping a ton so not surprised I didn’t have a lot of energy here.
FS: 230 7x3, 1x10 (this was my goal, probably had a few more in me but didn’t feel the need to push anything)
Pull ups: GB 3x5
Axle RDL: 120 x10, x5, 190 2x5, 240 2x5 (the axle makes this way harder, even using straps)
Plan is to go down tonight, do some pull throughs and pull ups then set up my pulley system.
Didn’t go back down and do the work, am feeling extremely fatigued, not sure the cause at this point. Hopefully with some more rest and better eating it will sort itself out.
Shoulders
Shoulder warm up (pull aparts, dislocations, face pulls)
OHP: 155 7x3, 1x15 (raises my e1rm but I have 0 faith in those in this rep range)
BB shrugs: 115 x 10, 205 2x10, 255 2x10
Band lateral/front raises
Band upright row
Made some progress on the pulley set up, will be done by this weekend. Not the most complete workout but the press felt really good, grinder on the last rep, may have had 1 more in me, my right thigh (exterior of the leg) started cramping around rep 12 lol
