Sierra Nevada is the best Nor Cal Beer.

ain’t that the truth !

Hmm. Isn’t Pete’s Wicked a NorCal beer? And Anchor makes a damn good brew as well.

No disrespect to the Sierra Nevada, but there is definitely competition in the neighborhood.[/quote]

Yes, But Anchor Steam is not as tasty and Petes has a “tinny” or wierd aftertase.

You guys are all telling him YOUR favorite wine. He wants to impress so your favorite wine means jack to him.

He is grilling salmon. This goes with
chardonnay and white wines.
and the rule breaker is Pinot Noir.

With my advice…

Slick Zen says:
“Yes, normally we would go with a white wine for salmon, but it is a little known fact that with salmon, Pinot is excellent. It compliments the salmon and brings the flavor out a lot more than the traditional white.”

Ladies:
“Oh Zen, you know what you are talking about”…then they both think ‘I’d like to bed him tonight.’

If you take the other advice:

Unslick Zen says:
“Uhh this is some wine some dude I never met said he and his wife likes. I don’t know shit about wine, but let’s try it.”

Ladies:
“Thanks”… thenm they both think…“what a dork, he doens’t even plan, care and he’s not romantic…oh well my vibrator is better than this option anyway.”

Beverages and More list the the complimentary foods that go with each wine at the shelf. I find this useful.

rockscar –

Good call on the specifics – is he having salmon?

But never underestimate the power of champagne – not only is it one of the world’s great food wines (it goes with just about anything), but chicks innately dig it.

Word.

Yes Salmon it is…grilled I believe. Veggies and light pasta.

Xen…this will work, then u owe me 1.

Use the Champagne after the wine is gone!!!

Nostradamus, a slightly nutty artisan ale from Belgium, I love this beer, it’s fanttastic. 9.5%, so it’s kinda potent.

Lindemann’s Lamibic - spontaneous fermentation, they add no yeast to it. after doing that for a while, they add fresh fruit juice, the sugar starts the fermentation again. Super tasty, pretty sweet, but not alco-pop sweet. Pick from cerise (cherry), framboise(raspberry) and peche (peach)

Others have mentioned good ones too. Victory is a good brewer in PA, I like Saranac and Stone as well.

Bud Lite can lick my ass…

plenty of solid recommendations already (sierra, pinot noir, etc) but something is really bothering me now:

why does anyone on this site even mention corona, let alone drink it? i can understand buying an iced bucket of them anywhere in mexico, where it literally costs $0.25 per bottle.

from this thread, someone might think paying $4 per bottle and adding a cute little lime wedge actually makes it good beer.

I love this. Most women (or guys who drink like women) would find it too dark.

If you’re going Mexican on the beer, I recommend Pacifico as a much more solid choice than Corona, which, I think, tastes like bull piss if you don’t add the lime (though it’s not as bad as Tecate).

Negro Modelo is another favorite.

My favorite beers would be Carlsberg, Newcastle Brown and Corona. I think any three could work in this situation, but I think your safest bet would be Newcastle Brown for a date.

the CU approved fine beer list, this is what I like, in an order of ‘cool beers I can think of’ first:

Stella Artois
Bohemian
Bass
Grolsch
Pilsner Urquell
Newcastle
Guinness
Red Hook
Red Stripe
Honey Brown
Buffalo Gold (gotto throw in a Boulder made brew)
Oasis (it’s a micro brew brand and hard to find but makes real good stuff)
Left Hand
Flying Dog (but not the pale ale, it’s fairly thick)
Winterfest (seasonal winter brew from Coors)
Coors Light (my light beer of choice)

and finally, the most important beer to impress your lady friend with, a 30 'Stone, yep a case of Keystone Light, Parties Happen.
